1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and worry. Have
you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry
them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing
that comes your way?
2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No,
not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to
take care of the problem. I can't help you until you turn it over
to Me. And although My to-do-list is long, I am after all...God.
I can take care of anything you put into My hands. In fact, if
the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things
for you that you never even realize.
3. TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them
back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your
needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids?
Put them on My list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list.
Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put
it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.
4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling much
stronger now, I think I can handle it from here." Why do you
think you are feeling stronger now? It's simple. You gave Me
your burdens and I'm taking care of them. I also renew your
strength and cover you in my peace. Don't you know that if I
give you these problems back, you will be right back where
you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just
let Me do my job.
5. TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making
you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know
I'm in control. But there's one thing I pray you never forget.
Please, don't forget to talk to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU! I want
to hear your voice. I want you to include Me in on the things
going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends
and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with
Me. I want to be your dearest friend.
6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see from where
you are. Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me;
you wouldn't want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care
for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have
to trust Me. Although I have a much bigger task than you, it
seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple
part. How hard can trust be?
7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were only two years old.
When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those
who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those
who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those
who haven't heard any in such a long time. Share your tears
with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith
with those who have none.
8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so
many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult,
have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades,
travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and
experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when
it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something
on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect.
Just because I created the entire universe in only six days,
everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.
9. BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you.
They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same
way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for
My sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would
be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each
of your differences.
10. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You
were created by me for one reason only -- to be loved, and to
love in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me. Love your
neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes My heart ache when
I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You
are very precious to me. Don't ever forget......

SAI - ISM
NATIONAL INTEGRATION PERSONIFIED IN SHIRDI SAI BABA '
If one man can make a million people to follow him, then that man
cannot but be considered as a great soul.
One among such saint is Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi. Still it is a
mystery whereform He came, who He was, to what religion He
belonged and what His real name was All that is said about Him,
is that He was called Sai Baba and that by His dress and food
habits he resembled a Muslim. Because He always uttered
"Allah Malik", it was presumed that He belongtd or have had the
association at early stages with the Muslim community.
On the other hand, the way in which He allowed Himself to be
worshipped with "Arathi" during His lifetime and adopted other
Hindu rituals, one can take Him to be a Hindu also.
PREACHED PURPOSE OF BIRTH
In practice, during his life-time, as per records officially
available from the government end, indicate that He gave only
'Vibhuti' to the people as "Prasad". Generally speaking, 'Vibhuti'
and keeping all the time burning fire (akhanda jyothi) before Him
go to prove His habits emanating from Hindu heritage. He left us
still guessing as to which sect He belonged to, because He
practised what was practised by the Muslims as well as by the
Hindus, both in the worshipping methods and observation of
rituals. One thing that He has achieved during his lifetime is that
He was able to personify Himself as a symbol of unity, bringing
together the two warring classes of the society, the Muslims
and Hindus. He had made every attempt to find unity in diversity
in that He allowed Himself to be a party to celebrate all the Hindu
festivals as well as those of the Muslims.
The Urus and the Rama Navami, two fairs and festivals were held
on the same day to unify the Hindus and the Mohamedans.
The principle of national integration, which we preach today, was
practised by Him then. He not only, at every stage of His life,
brought both the sections together but also made them mingle
together on the same platform and at the same place. This is
something unique in His life. Sri Rama Navami, Moharram
Ramzan, Krishna Jayanti, all these festivals of Hindus and
Muslims used to be held in the place where Sri Sai Baba lived
and He was the only presiding diety for both of them at Shirdi.
He ate meat with Muslims and vegetarian food with the Hindus.
It is surprising to find from the records as maintained by the
government that He allowed even goat to be sacrificed although
on the other hand He celebrated the birth of Krishna and Sri
Rama with great splendour and pomp. The biggest question-mark
now is, if a man can make two warring groups to follow him and
have faith in Him and make believe as the son of the God, then
we cannot but call Him as one possessing Godliness.
THE MIRACLE OF VIBHUTI
'Vibhuti' was used as a 'Prasad' and as a medicine for curing the
diseases, by Sri Sai Baba. This reminds us one of the most
important things in life and tickles our sentiments to the fact
that those who are born with life and blood will have to return to
the earth - the dead finding their body being reduced to ashes.
May be, He wanted to tell the mankind that you are made of
earth and you will have to go back to earth. Shri Sai Baba
possibly wanted the mankind to understand the dictum:
"I shall pass this way but once. Any good, therefore, which I
can do, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again".

Satsang A BRIEF LIFE SKETCH OF GURUDEV H. H. NARASIMHA SWAMIJI
In Pandharpur, Narasimha Swamiji cultivated devotion; but his aim
was to find out a Sadguru. He made enquiries and came to know,
that in Khedgaon (a place 34 miles from Poona) Sadguru Narayan
Maharaj was living. B.V.N. Swamiji approached him in his Ashram
for guidance. Narasimha Swamiji asked the Maharaj, where he could
find the Kohinoor, the richest gem. The Maharaj directed him to go
west wards. Narasimha Swamiji went to Meherbad, a place near
Ahmednagar and stayed with Meher Baba for sometime. Meher Baba
was considered to be a perfect master, who had toured round the
world. He was previously known as Meherwan, born in 1894 in a
Zorastrain family in Poona. Sri Meher Baba was a pupil of Sri
Upasani Baba of Sakori. Following the advice of Meher Baba's
disciples, Narasimha Swamiji proceeded to meet Sri Upasani
Baba.
Narasimha Swamiji was in pursuit of the Bhakli-marg. Sri Upasani
Baba advised him to stick to the Bhakli-marg and not fritter away
his powers in metaphysical speculation. He also advised him to
develop his knowledge through jap, bhajan and parayan etc. and
lead the life of a holy ascetic. Upasani Baba's teachings and
methods were against Narasimha Swamiji's opinions and
expectations about correct religious life. So, he left Sri Upasani
Baba in 1933 resolving never to go back. Sri Narasimha Swamiji
began his pilgrimage with a visit to the Siddharudha Mutt in Hubli.
Here, he met a Sadaka. That Sadaka was eager to go to some
place and settle down to a religious life. Narasimha Swamiji
promised to help him. This commitment made Swamiji to take
him on a pilgrim from Hubli to Pandharpur, Khedgaon. The Hubli
Sadaka thought that the only safe place for him was Sakori. Being
informed, that Sri Upasani Baba was not in Sakori, Sri Narasimha
Swamiji agreed to take the Sadaka to Sakori intending to proceed
to Dwarka immediately avoiding a meeting with Upasani Baba.
Reaching Sakori to his great astonishment he came to know, that
Sri Upasani Baba was there. He paid his respects and bowed to
him. The Sadaka told Swamiji that he was not allowed to stay in
Upasani Baba's Ashram. He requested Swamiji to speak on his
behalf. Upasani Baba agreed to allow that Sadaka to stay with
him in Sakori, if Narasimha Swamiji was prepared to stay with
him in doing the Sadhana, following his path without proceeding
further on pilgrimage.
Narasimha Swamiji had heard from Upasani Baba about Sri Sai
Baba of Shirdi (Shirdi is close to Sakori, six and a half kms. from
Sakori). He wrote in his book 'The Sage of Sakori', how much Sai
Baba had helped Sri Upasani Baba. Sri Narasimha Swamiji bagan
to collect information about Sri Sai Baba. He discovered, thai Sri
Sai Baba was really Sri Ram or Sri Krishna, born for the welfare
of mankind and he found in Sai, The Trinity. Upasani Baba's
reputation was so great that Mahatma Gandhi had approached
him in 1927 with a view to secure his blessings for national
welfare. Swamiji reasoned, if Sri Upasani Baba, the disciple, was
so great, his Master, Sri Sai Baba must be much greater, still it
did not occur to him to pay a visit to Sri Sai Baba's Mahasamadhi
till the dcstined hour arrived. With the permission and blessings of
Sri Upasani Baba, Narasimha Swamiji set out for Shirdi.

The Greatest Proof
Love - How Baba Developed
Conferring of benefits is the surest means of the development
of love. Baba conferred benefits in a very peculiar, often in a
very mysterious way and the manner of benefit being conferred,
as well as the nature of benefit being conferred, equally tended
to develop the mysterious element of LOVE.
- By Mr. Usha Ranganathan
"I take it that,
When a man's life ends in death (What is called death),
Another mother gives him birth, with sturdier limbs
and brighter brain
And the old soul takes the road again
Whatever he has blessed or cursed,
come back to him in exact measure.
To make him wonder why this stranger helps
and the other hinders, not knowing that all these are his
own actions in exact measure.
Thus the old Soul is born again and again,
till it is cast in purest gold."
Recently, I was deeply moved by a plea from a broken hearted
mother. A short time ago her three-year old daughter was hit
by a car in the street and killed instantly. "Who is God and
where is He that He would allow this thing to happen?" She
asked, "How do we know there is anything beyond death? I
must know, somehow, that my daughter is not dead, just
gone for a while, and that I will see her again some day"
Out of my own experience, I understand this need of knowing.
It always comes when death invades one's personal world.
Prior to my husband, Dr. R. J. Rang Nathan's death in
December 1990, I had never seriously considered the subject
to immortality. In fact, for years I had been doing what many
do -ducking, pretending that my family members and I had a
long lease of life. We were still young. Why should we even
think about such gloomy matters? Then came that day when,
like the young mother, I needed answers. And I wanted them
to be authoritative answers, not just someone's opinions. So
I went directly to the most authoritative source I know - Sai
Satcharitra. Here I found solid help.
My first discovery was that Hemadpant never argued about
immortality any more than Sai Baba argued about the
existence and the love of God. The reason for these
assumptions is that wise men knew that certain matters
can never be proven by logic. They must be experienced.
Then we know, and not until then.
During His talks with devotees, Sai Baba pointed to them
the path that they should follow in order that they might
know. 'Believe Me, though I pass away, My bones in My
tomb will give you hope and confidence. Not only Myself
but My tomb would be speaking, moving and communicating
with those who surrender themselves wholeheartedly to Me."
"Watch Me." He seemed to be saying when He appeared
in the dream vision of Laxman Mama Joshi. He seemed to
be saying: "Watch I am ever Living." His assurance 'If you
spread your palms with devotion before Me, I am readily
with you day and night. Then you will know finally and
forever that there is no death.

own actions in exact measure.

Satsang Why Worship Sai Baba?
Why Worship Sai Baba?
By M. Rama Rao
What Kids Need From Their Fathers
1. Someone who shows his love for them
2. Someone who will spend time with them
3. Someone who can see the world through a child's eye
4. Someone who will set limits
5. Someone whom they feel proud to imitate.
Despite all that mothers can provide, children feel safe and
protected with their fathers.
Nothing can change the need for a dad.
I attended the 'Guru Poonima' celebrations at Sai Spiritual
Centre on 12th July 1995 and on our return trip home, my
grand-daughter asked me : "Why so elaborate pooja and
rituals? Sai Baba has stated simple remembrance of My
name as 'Sai' 'Sai' will do away all the sins of speech and
hearing'. I pondered for a while and told her that she will have
a convincing reply from Sai Baba Himself by that evening.
When we went home, we had a guest who had just returned
from Africa. He was describing African sanctuaries and other
places he visited there. He showed us several photographs
taken in Africa.
I had almost forgotten the morning's incident. In the evening,
my grand daughter said that Sai Baba is ever living to help
and guide all and she herself had a unique experience in this
connection when she asked me in the morning - Why worship
Sai Baba?
Her experience is something, which is a direct reply of Sai Baba
Himself. Sai Baba anticipated the psychological difficulties of
His devotees who have been worshipping their family Gods
through traditional forms of worship by insisting that they
continue to worship their family Gods with undiminished reverence.
She told me that the very fact of a guest coming to our house and
narrating his experiences of African sanctuaries is a Sai-miracle.
Sai Baba has made her learn that in the African sanctuaries where
wild life is protected, there are guide posts and shelters where lost
tourists may take shelter and procure information about correct
routes and directions. Our temples, churches, mosques etc., are
like these guideposts set in the wildlife sanctuary for the guidance
and protection of toast tourists. Sai Baba is that facet of the
Supreme who out of irrepressible love and compassion is such a
guide always on the look out for the lost tourists and waiting
eagerly with open arms to welcome them. That is why it is easier
for all of us to take shelter in Sai Baba from the terrors lurking in
the forests of this 'samsara.'
Regarding the elaborate rituals in worshipping Veda Vyasa,
Krishna, Shankaracharya and the lineage of Gurus upto Sai Baba,
Sri Narasimha Swamiji and Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji at Sri Sai
Spiritual Centre, she understood that the Supreme Being containing
all Gods, avatars, prophets and Gurus like the 'Viswaroopa' revealed
in the 11th chapter of Bhagavad-Gita. Sai Baba repeatedly stressed
on 'Allah malik' and thereby tunes the minds of His devotees to the
Supreme Being. She concluded that Sai Baba insisted on continuing
traditional methods of worship.
Sai Baba - the 'Antaryami' seated in my heart - in His own inimitable
manner had convinced my granddaughter in less than ten hours of
her argument with me. This transformation itself is a Sai Leela par
Excellence.

Satsang MY PRAYER
MY PRAYER
By S. Natarajan
When life grinds to a halt
I pray only for Sai's darshan
To absolve me of my sins any sort
And lead to Jiva and Paramathma fusion
I pray for Sai's radiant light
To burn out my past bonds
And be with me in future births
Till I qualify for eternal peace
I want to rest at His holy feet
And be ever in bliss and ananda
This bliss I would never forfeit
By the accumulated sins of Samsara bandham
I know Baba is an ocean of mercy
And a Bhakta praadheena of his devotee
Sure, Sai follows him in every birth
Till the devotee merges in Sai's eternity
Baba followed Chandorkar for four generations
For 72 generations Sai was with Shama
Durandar brothers had Sai's grace for 60 generations
Even a Jnani has to suffer many births
Before realizing and attaining the Almighty.

Satsang Road to Sai Baba
Road to Sai Baba
By U. Sangamesan
"I took a piece of plastic clay
And idly fashioned it one day,
And as my fingers pressed it still,
It moved and yielded to my will.
I came again when days were passed;
The bit of clay was hard at last,
The form I gave it still it bore,
But I could change that form no more.
I took a piece of living clay
And touched it gently day by day.
And molded with my power and art
A young child's soft and yielding heart
I came again when years were gone;
It was a mind I looked upon;
That early impress still he wore,
And I could change that form no more."
It was October 1943.I was in my early twenties and was
passing through a turmoil in life. I had problems from all sides -
physical, domestic, official etc., I had lost my peace of mind. I
had resorted to traditional forms of worship and nothing
concrete had come out of it. At times I felt like running away
from life and even on a few occasions thoughts of committing
suicide had entered my mind. It was at this juncture, I was
drawn towards Sai Baba through Sri Narasimha Swamiji.
One evening I went to Mylapore and sat on the steps of the
tank adjoining Kapaleeswarar's temple. I sat quiet for a long
time and my mind was debating as to whether I should run
away from my family or ends my life. The time was already
8 '0' clock and as I got up. I saw a board 'All India Sai Samaj'
just opposite the tank.
I had heard of Sai Baba but did not know the existence of a
Samaj. I approached the building. It was Dr. Nanjunda Rao's
residence. I went upto the gate. I saw there a saintly person
with a half grey beard talking to another person. I saw the
picture of Sai Baba in a wooden enclosure. I stood there for
a while.
On seeing me the person who was talking to the saintly
person came out and introduced himself as 'K. Radhakrishna'
and asked me to come in. He pointed out to the saintly
personality as Sri Narasimha Swamiji, President of All India
Sai Samaj. I had heard his name as the one who spearheaded
Sai prachar and was immensely happy to meet him. I
prostrated before Sri Narasimha Swamiji. He blessed me with
the words: "May Sri Sai Baba protect you and your family".
The very blessings of Swamiji were a turning point in my life.
I narrated my tale of woes to him. Swamiji asked me to
worship Sai Baba with total surrender and promised me that
He would take care of everything. As foretold by Swamiji, I
came out of my problems shortly thereafter and peace of
mind dawned on me. I became a regular visitor to All India
Sai Swamiji and also a 'Sai Sevak' in Sai Prachar of Sri
Narasimha Swamiji.
Sri K. Radhakrishna who later on blossomed himself to a
great saint Sri Saipadananda Radhakrishna Swamiji
affectionately recalled the above incident whenever I met
him at Bangalore and once wrote on the flyleaf of my
copy of Sai Satcharitra as follows:
"Got any rivers you think are uncross able?
Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?
Sai Baba specializes in things thought impossible.''
Once we grasp this great truth, the exhilaration and
adventure that Sai Baba brings into our lives makes
anything else seem pale stuff. For everyone's problem,
I always quote : "Take heart - these are the very
adventures in which Sai Baba delights.

Satsang BABA SEEKS HIS CHILDREN
BABA SEEKS HIS CHILDREN
The hope, solace and consolation for the spirituality anguished
human being is that, though it may be very difficult, if not,
altogether impossible for man to search God by his own unaided
efforts, it is no problem for God to reach man. SRI SAI BABA
pointing to His devotees assembled before Him, used to say
"These people imagine that they have come to me of their own
accord, without realizing that, it is I who have drawn them to me,
like pulling the birds by a string tied to their feet. I have been
watching, nursing and guiding them like a fond mother through
several births". What a consolation to reflect that the benevolent
and protective hands of Baba are over us, even when we do not
realize that our heart-strings are held in His hands, fill your heart
with the oil of His love, and trim the wick of your mind and work,
wait and watch day and night for none knows when the Bridegroom
comes. There are no errors or omissions in SRI SAI BABA's ways.
He surely comes, but not when you want but in due season when
the time is ripe and you are really ready to receive Him.

Satsang Sai wanted me to tell you
SAI WANTED ME TO TELL YOU::::
It shall be well with you this year. No matter how much your enemies try this year, they will not succeed. You have been destined to make it and you shall surely achieve all your goals this year. For the remaining months of the year, all your agonies will be diverted and victory and prosperity will be incoming in abundance. Today Sai has confirmed the end of your sufferings sorrows and pains because HE that sits on the throne has remembered you. He has taken away the hardships and given you JOY. He will never let you down. I knocked at heaven's door this morning, Sai asked me...My child! What can I do for you? And I said, Father, please protect and bless the person reading this message...Sai smiled and answered...Request granted.

Sage Vishwamitra discovered the Gayatri Mantra. This mantra
enabled the sage to use rare weapons, which bowed to his will,
when this mantra was invoked with faith. Through the power he
attained, this way he was able to create a counterpart of the
cosmos. The Gayatri Mantra is addressed to the energy of the
Sun - Surya. It is addressed to the Immanent and Transcendent
Divinity. This mantra has infinite potentiality; it is a vibrant formula.
It has immense powers, which are truly amazing, for the Sun is
it's presiding Deity.
The Gayatri Mantra is enshrined in the Vedas, the most ancient
Scriptures of Man. Gayatri is the Mother of the Vedas and Gayatri
redeems the chanter of the Mantra. Ma Gayatri is present wherever
the Mantra is chanted. Gayatri has three names - Gayatri, Saavitri
and Saraswathi. These three are present in each one of us. Gayatri
is the master of the senses, Saavitri is the master of Prana (Life
Force). Saavitri signifies Truth. Saraswathi is the Presiding Deity of
Speech (Vaak). Theses three represent purity of Thought, Word
and Deed. One who practises the purity and harmony of Thought,
Word and Deed will have Gayatri, Saavitri and Saraswathi in him.
The Gayatri Mantra Has Three Parts
1. "OM BHUR BHUVA SVAHA TAT SAVITUR
VARENYAM BHARGO DEVASYA"
2. "DHEEMAHI"
3. "DHIYO YO NAH PRACHODAYAT"
These three parts refer to the three elements that figure in the
adoration of the Lord - Praise, Meditation and Prayer.
These Parts may be described as
· Prayer to Savitha, The Divine is first praised
· Meditation on Savitha, The Divine is then meditated upon with
reverence
· Prayer to Savitha.
An appeal is made to the Divine to awaken and strengthen our
intellect, the discriminating faculty in us. The Gayatri Mantra is
considered to be the Essence of the teachings of the Vedas,
The Veda Sara. Chanting it fosters and sharpens the knowledge
yielding faculty in man, and one who chants it regularly with
faith the mantra relieves him of diseases, wards off all misery
and fulfils all the needs of man. It bestows all that is beneficial
to the chanter. The Gayatri should not be chanted casually, as
it give the chanter various kinds of power. This mantra should be
chanted three times a day - Dawn, Noon and Dusk, although the
mantra is not bound by these three time periods of the day.
Remember it can be chanted anywhere and at any time. The
chanter of Gayatri mantra should not treat it casually and his
heart should be pure at all times. The Gayatri Mantra is an
essential requisite for the young and students because it ensures
bright and auspicious future for them. The chanter of mantra has
sharper intellect, they become more zealous, more enthusiastic,
and certainly become qualified to get better marks, ranks and first
classes. Just as we take bath to cleanse our bodies, so also we
should chant the Gayatri Mantra to purify our mind and Intellect.
The most recommended time for chanting the Gayatri are :
· When we get up from bed in the morning
· Before every meal
· When we go to bed in the evening
After the Gayatri one should chant 'OM' and 'Shanti' Three times.
The Gayatri Mantra protects the chanter wherever he may be.
The importance of the mantra are given as follows:
· If Gayatri Mantra is not recited correctly it has opposite effect
of enveloping the chanter in darkness. If it is chanted with Love,
God will accept it.
· Each word should be pronounced clearly and distinctly, without
undue haste or hurry.
· Gayatri is the very basis of Vedas. It is also called Veda Mata
(Mother of the Vedas)
· Gayatri is the mantra, which preserves, protects and rescues
the chanter from mortality.
· The Gayatri mantra is a Universal prayer, which asks for a clear
Intellect so that the Truth may be reflected therein without
distortion.
· Men, Women of all climes and creed, can chant Gayatri Mantra.
· The heart needs to be cleansed atleast three times a day with
Gayatri.
· The Gayatri Mantra is synonymous to the Divinity and therefore
must be approached with humility, reverence, faith and love
towards the Mantra.
· Chanting with humility, reverence, faith and love is more important
than mechanical repetition while the mind wanders.
· Full faith in the power and potency of the Gayatri Mantra will be
generated only when the seeker has developed requisite degree
of enthusiasm, reverence and love towards the Mantra.
· The more one chants the Mantra, the greater benefit the chanter
gets.

Satsang Glory of the Guru
A Guru transmits his power to a worthy disciple through thought,
sight or touch. Transmission through thought is like the hatching
of eggs by mother tortoise, which buries its eggs in the sands
and goes away but its continuous thought waves have the power
and warmth to hatch the eggs. Transmission through sight is like
the intense gaze of the Guru into the eyes of the disciple, like the
fish which lays its eggs in an insoluble bubble just outside its
mouth and looks at the eggs all the time and the third type of
transmission is through the touch of the Guru - placing of Guru's
palm on the disciple's head.
Enlightening by thought like the mother tortoise hatching her
eggs was the method used by Sai Baba. Enlightenment by
drishti, like the fish hatching her eggs through sight was the
method used by Ramana Bhagawan and transmission through
touch like the bird hatching its eggs by sitting on it was the
method of Ramakrishna.
Since God's grace is ex-gratia and can never be procured by
human effort all that an earnest striver can do is to "seek,
knock and ask". When the seeker's hunger and thirst for God
equals the cry for air by a man drowning in water or the
desperate need for water by fishes thrown out of water then the
Grace of God is not far away. God's love for man has been
described as follows:
"When my devotee prays to me lying down, I sit near and listen.
When he sits and prays, I stand by and listen. When he stands
and prays, I dance before him, and when he dances in ecstatic
prayer to me, I prostrate before him."
Narada saw Lord Krishna opening a small pooja box and taking
out reverentially something from a beautiful silk pouch and when
he saw it was just a bit of earth, he asked of the Lord what it was.
The Lord replied it was the dust collected from the feet of the
devotees. So there is no higher sadhana than total unconditional
surrender. Man by himself is nothing but a frail being like a dry
leaf caught in a storm and tossed about helplessly till the power
of God flows into him and he becomes the image of God as God
had originally made him. Complete and unflinching faith in the
Guru will take the disciple to the goal even as Ekalavya attained
perfection in Dhanur Vidya by worshipping with faith only the
clay image of Drona as Guru.
