Satsang A MIRACLE (November 1985)

A MIRACLE (November 1985)
What I relate here is one of the greatest wonders that took place in my
life. Baba's deeds are wonderful and no science can explain them. They are
certainly miracles. The account I give you now proves this. A doctor friend
of my father-in-law saw my little son one day and suspected that he (my son)
was suffering from the Primary complex. My father-in-law took the boy to a
children's specialist in a city nearby. The doctor confirmed the doubt of
the other doctor and prescribed the boy some medicines after studying the
reports of various tests like the blood test, X-ray etc. All this happened
in my absence. When I came to know about it, I prayed to Baba to save the
boy from trouble. Baba has saved me many times whenever I have been in
difficulties. My prayer was answered in a miraculous way. I took the boy to
another specialist to know whether the diagnosis of the earlier doctor was
correct or not. All the time I had been praying
to Baba that the boy should be all right. Believe it or not, the specialist
said that the boy had no infection at all. Two other specialists also saw
the X-ray and other reports and said the same thing. Could the first
specialist be wrong? I think even now that it is nothing but Baba's kindness
that saved us from much trouble. My boy is quite all right now.
Tears well up in my eyes whenever I think of Baba's kindness which can not
be described at all. My debt to Baba cannot be cleared off even in a
thousand lives. His mercy and kindness are limit less.

Satsang Chapter 11 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram
Chapter 11:::
Dr. Pandit, Haji Siddik Falke
* Sai Baba is incarnation of God.Vedas declare that Brahma is bliss. People enjoyed that bliss at Shirdi. Baba permitted his devotees to worship Him as they desired. Once Dr. Pandit, during worship in the masjid , applied sandal paste on Baba's forhead . No one ever dared to do that till then.Baba explained to Dhadha Kelkar that Pandit in his mind personified Baba as his guru and applied sandal paste on His forhead as he would do to his Guru, and hence He could not object. Later, the doctor confirmed this. Sometimes, though Baba appeared to shake with anger and appear to rotate his reddish eyeballs menacingly, He was at heart embodiment of motherly love.
* No one can say when Baba would accept a person. Once , for nine months Baba dis not permit an aged Moslem named Haji Siddik Falke, who had visited Mecca and Medina, to enter the masjid.Shama pleaded for him. Baba exclaimed ' 'Who can enter the masjid without that Fakir's permission?' Then He shot three questions to the Haji through Shama. On hearing the replies given by the Haji, an emotionally charged Baba came to the Haji and said: 'Why are you imagining yourself as a matured Haji? You do not know Me. You are vain about your trip to Mecca. ' Then He returned to masjid , sent a basket full of mangoes with Rs. 55 to Haji and permitted him to come to masjid whenever he wanted.
* One day a severe storm raged at Shirdi frightening men and animal alike. Baba came to the edge of the masjid , looked up at the sky and commanded 'Stop! Stop your fury.'
The storm quickly ceased, sky cleared and moon shone brightly.
* Another day, the flames of dhuni rose dangerously to the ceiling of masjid. Baba struck His chatka in the nearby pillar ordering ' Get down, get down' and the flames subsided for each stroke and became normal.
Those who read this chapter would be released from all dangers. Having achieved all their desires they will reach the high state of desirelessness.

SAI THE PROTECTOR (November 1985)

In the early hours of 12th February 1985, (Tuesday), my sister had a
wonderful dream. The dream was as follows:

She and her friend were going to some place and all of a sudden a monkey
started following them and was trying to snatch her friend's spectacles. At
first she asked her friend to be careful and walk faster but a few seconds
later, she realized that the monkey was no other than 'Lord Hanumanji'. She
and her friend then did pranam to Lord Hanumanji and asked Him to forgive
them for not recognising Him earlier.

She got up soon and narrated the dream to all of us. It was her usual
practice to visit Lord Hanumanji and Lord Sai Maharaj temples every Tuesday.
Since it was a Tuesday she as usual took Hanumanji's and Sai Nath's darshan.
On her return from Sai Maharaj's temple she went to the post office. But on
the way to the Post office a gentleman coming from the opposite direction
indicated to her with his hand to step aside. She accordingly stepped aside
and looking backwards saw to her surprise a cow running at full speed in her
direction. Had not the kind man (Sai himself) asked her to step aside, she
would have come in the way of the cow and she would have been injured.

We then realized the full meaning of her early morning dream. Sai Maharaj
always protects His children, so we should cast off all our anxieties and
become His sincere devotees.

Satsang Wishing you all a very Happy Holi

Satsang Wishing you all a very Happy Holi

Holi is one of the most festive, joyous holidays of the Hindu year. It is celebrated on the full moon day of Phalguna (February - March). The festival is marked by great revelry during which everyone paints each other with brightly colored powders. Song, dance and bright red, green, yellow and pink powder are the hallmarks of the occasion.
Disciple and Divinity over Passion
The meanings of Holi are numerous. For some, it is the festival of Springtime, the heralding of warm weather and bidding farewell to the winter. It is also seen as a festival of love, the return of fertility and virility. However, side by side with the celebration of love and fertility is the message to exercise control over the emerging passion. In some parts of India the story is told on Holi of Kamadeva (God of Love; Cupid), whom Lord Shiva burned to ashes as he tried to seduce Him out of His meditation. The message is: celebrate love, but don't get carried away. Thus, Holi is a celebration of divinity and discipline over passion.
Virtue Over Vice:
The Puranas describe Holi as a celebration of virtue over vice. It is a time when we rejoice in the victory of pure, divine Prahlaad over his aunt Holika. The story - in a simple, condensed way - says that Prahlaad was a young, beautiful, pure, divine devotee of God. However, Prahlaad's father was a powerful king who believed that everyone should worship him. At Prahlaad's refusal to do so, due to his singleminded love of God, his father decided to have him killed. Prahlaad's aunt (his father's sister), Holika, had been given a special shawl as a boon from God for various austerities she had performed. When she wore this shawl, she could not be burned by fire. So, Prahlaad's father and his sister devised a plan in which she would wear her shawl and hold Prahlaad tightly in her arms as they sat in fire. In this way, Prahlaad would be killed, but she would emerge unscathed.
However, as divine plan works, a strong gust of wind came and blew the shawl off of her, as well as carried pure Prahlaad to safety. Holika was burned in the fire of her own evil.
One of the great obstacles in life to our spiritual progress is the difference between what we do or say on the outside and how we really are on the inside. Holika had performed certain austerities by which she was entitled to this boon from God. On the outside, she was "pious." But, on the inside she was not pure. Prahlaad, on the other hand, was a simple, pure, loving devotee of God. This is what saved him. This inner purity and inner piety are what truly save us, what truly make our lives divine.
So many of us go to temple, do the rituals, offer money to the priests, and chant a certain number of malas. Then, we go out and act in selfish, unpious, dishonest ways. These may not necessarily take the form of malicious transgressions. It may simply be the way we speak to our children or to our loved ones. It may simply be the way we try to cheat those with whom we do business. It may be the way we sit and gossip about others.
All the rituals and puja in the world cannot make up for a lack of piety, honesty and compassion. The goal of going to temple is not just to perform rituals; the goal is to become spiritual. God is happier with pure, innocent, devoted Prahlaad than with all the austerities and rituals performed by his father and aunt.
Thus, on this divine occasion, we should pray to be filled with the purity and devotion of Prahlaad. We should commit ourselves to performing our puja, meditation and japa with focus, dedication and deep love for God.
One meaning of the word Holi is sacrifice. On Holi we light so many bonfires to revel in joy and to burn the effigies of Holika. The meanings of these bonfires are to burn that which is devilish and impure, leaving only the purity and divinity after Holi. However, we must remember not only to partake in the merry-making of a bonfire. We must remember to sacrifice that within us which is devilish and impure. There is some demon-nature in all of us. We must burn that demon-nature on Holi and emerge as pure and pious as divine Prahlaad.
The fire of purity and divinity which we light on Holi must burn continuously in our hearts throughout the year. We must have an ever-burning bonfire of impurity, so that we are continuously renewed, continuously purified and continuously rejuvenated.
So,
LET THIS HOLI BE A TIME WHEN WE CHANGE
NOT ONLY THE COLOR OF OUR FACES,
BUT THE COLOR OF OUR HEARTS.
LET US NOT ONLY "PLAY" HOLI,
BUT LET US BECOME HOLY.
LET THE ONLY COLOR THAT
TRULY PENETRATES OUR BEINGS
BE THE COLOR OF GOD.
FOR, ON THE MORNING AFTER HOLI
THE OTHER COLORS WILL WASH AWAY.
BUT WE MUST LET THE COLOR OF GOD
BE INDELIBLE
IN OUR EYES, IN OUR EARS AND IN OUR HEARTS.
May God bless you all and all your families.
With love and blessings,
In the service of God and humanity,
Swami Chidanand Saraswati

Satsang Chapter 10 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram
Chapter 10:::
Baba's bedstead

Remind yourself always about Sai Baba. One should do it from minute to minute when one's mental and
physical faculties are fine.
* Baba suspended a wooden plank of rags from the ceiling of the masjid, kept lamps burning on four edges and slept on it. While it was a puzzle as to how the withered cloth pieces held the weight of the plank, it was all the more a miracle that it held on the weight of Baba also. People used to gather to see how Baba climbed up and down. They kept vigil in turns. But no one could see him either climbing up or ascending down. All that they could see was that either He was lying on the plank or already on the ground! One day enraged Baba broke the plank to pieces. Some times, Baba appeared as embodiment of love. At times, He threw stones on on-lookers. In fact, only the blessed ones got the treasure called Sai Baba. The inner significance of Baba's preaching was Ram and Rahim are one and the same. Sai is the one Guru who will carry us beyond the sea of bondage of birth.

*Once a man named Nanavali asked Baba to get up from His seat and sat on it. Baba obliged and said nothing.
Immediately he got up and prostrated to Baba. This man was so devoted that he died on the 13th day after Baba's mahasamadhi.
*Baba said, "If you shed all intellectual burden and remind yourself "Sai" "Sai" then you will be untied of all bondages and freed"
Listen to these stories with attention. Meditate on them .Without God's grace no one gets the taste to listen to the stories of Saints.
With meditation on Sai's form let us close this chapter.

1. FOUNDATION STONES FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE: From the Satsanghs of Saibanisa ji

Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi, Saidarbar – Hyderabad.199. We should not underestimate the enemy. He may look weak and small, but he will become a big headache to you like a tiny dust particle fallen in the eye.

200. The sheep without a proper shepherd, and people without a righteous leader are one and the same.

201. Everybody should do the charities, but at the same time they should not be like King Bali who lost his kingdom due to over enthusiasm in doing charities.

202. Once you are entangled in the vices, it is difficult to come out in the way as when you are suffering with itching which needs your continuous attention.

203. We should not befriend or enter into enmity with bad people as it is like touching the cold charcoal will give you a black spot or the hot charcoal which burn the fingers.

204. If you can not avoid the company of bad people, try to be with them the way the bird cuckoo mixes with crows but does not change its original voice.

205. By mistake, if you are the cause for someone’s physical injury, it can be healed with medicines but if you hurt somebody’s feelings which can not be cured life long with any medicine. So take proper care in dealing with others.

206. The one who obstruct you from performing bad acts, who encourages you to do good acts, seeing good in others and who stands by your side in troubles, is a real friend.

207. A friend in need is a friend in deed is correct. But at the same time you should not reveal some of your secrets to him as he may be tempted to reveal the same secrets to others.

208. You should be more careful with the sweet words of the bad persons as they keep poison in their mind and at their convenient time, they spit out the poison on you.

209. Criticizing a good person is nothing but spitting towards sky which will fall back on your face only.

3. SAI IN DREAMS: These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSa Ji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.
24-04-1994

Before retiring to bed, I offered salutations to Baba and said “Tomorrow will be my birthday, please give me a message”.

Sai shown me the following visuals-

I saw a dead person and all his relatives were busy preparing for the last journey. The whole situation was looking like a birthday celebration. From the crowd a person resembling Sai was addressing at me- “The real point of birth starts off from the moment you are dead, as this body enters into the womb of another woman. So this in fact is the real Birthday for anyone. The rest are all man made for the sake of celebrations.

Birth and death are the two fixed entities of life.

26-04-1994

Sai appeared in the dream drawing my attention towards a group of people-

Look to them, how they are engaged in wasting food with utter disregard and indulging in fun making. It is sheer pity that they do not realize ‘Annam as parabrahmah swaroopam’ (source of energy and supreme). Food is very essential for survival.

Food is the fruit of hard labor that every able person should earn for and enjoy it by him rather than to accept as charity.

Food is one of the basic driving forces.

28-04-1994

The essence of the visuals shown by SAI is –

It is unpardonable to forget the giver when all the long wish list is fulfilled. Give a thought as to what is now expected from you.

Always think of the supreme power behind the universe.

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)"Shashi":
22. Atma – Jnana

It is a universal fact that every person’s physical body invariably undergoes changes. Every person, who is living in the world, is born as an infant. By the process of Growth, the infant grows into an adult. The duration of each stage of life is fixed. For example duration of infancy is 12 months; the duration of childhood is 12 years. Similarly specific duration is also present for adult and old age. During adulthood, every person possesses as the ability to reproduce. During the old age, every person’s physical body begins to dwindle or decay. Finally, due to death the physical body totally vanishes.
Atma is devoid of all these modifications. Atma is not physical body. The real nature of every person is ‘Atma’ (self). Hence every person is none else than ‘Atma Swaroopa’. It is consciousness which enables us to identify human beings and objects. So consciousness is the character of Atman. This Atman alone as the ability to identify all, yet remains changeless.

Sri SaiBaba said: “The Atman, constituting the root of everything in the internal or the external world, is also the very content of all experiences.” That means – the Atman is the sole real entity enveloping all forms, as well as formless. Such a realization overturns one’s ordinary distorted perception of Reality. Here we may recall Baba’s identification with dogs and all living beings giving proof of His physical oneness with these living beings. Because every thing springs from the Self, is dissolved in it, and remains imbibed with ‘IT continuous ‘it’ cannot be perceived apart from the self. Therefore everything is the Self.

Sri Sai once said, - “Since atman pervades everything and is the only reality and it is with in you only and try to listen within the follow the direction you get. You must look as you and that it guide you. The Atman which is within you constitute your own nature, Self – Effulgent. The Atman is your true Guru and that is the voice of your conscience.”

Atman is the ‘Self’ of every individual and this dwells inside every person. It is the individual’s physical organs which perform various actions and it is the sense organs of the individual which are enjoying the fruits of the actions. Atman is none else than Supreme God. Whenever our mind gives birth to various types of thought-waves, Atman remains merely as a ‘Sakshi (witness). Let us assume that ‘Sakshi state of Brahman’s wave less portion of an ocean called ‘Consciousness’. Pure consciousness is the absolute state of supreme God’.

Sai through Reincarnations
By: Sai Sevak Raghuraman Satulury

From the Epics:

A certain reindeer (mother-in-law of one male deer) to wreak it’s
Vengeance was reborn as a human being and is quoted from an
incident that took place in Ramayana.

The king of Kaikeyi kingdom killed a male deer while hunting. An
elder female deer requested the king to give the wounded deer so
that she could treat and save the wounded one from dying. The king
Was adamant and refused to hand over the wounded to their kith and
kin. Instead, he prepared a dish out of it and ate it. The female
deer cursed the king with the words that she would one day become
the source of agony to the king, he would then die a similar death
weeping for his son-in-law. After death the deer was reborn as
Mandhara, the central character of the Epic Ramayana and becomes
the cause for the death of King Dasaradha, the son-in-law of the
king to the Kaikeyi kingdom.

Hindu shrine site steeped in history

http://www.c-n.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060223/NEWS/602230302

In July, Sai Mandir's USA Newsletter announced the "Nori Foundation has ... purchased six acres of lot in the town of Millstone in Somerset County, New Jersey to establish a ... Sai Mandir. This will be a central location for all our devotees coming from Washington, Delaware, Philadelphia and New Jersey."

The shrine, designed by architect Vilas Parab, will be located at the rear of the property, 345 feet from the road, with the existing Cape Cod home at the front of the property used as housing for the priests.

The main building, designed to hold a maximum of 250 people, is proposed to be 123 feet long with a gazebo-style conservatory at one end. The stucco-style exterior is a light pinky-peach color, and the exterior walls of the walk-in basement wall will be covered with dark gray granite. The building is designed to have seven spires, each one over interior shrines, with the top of the main spire 55 feet above the ground.

The main floor, as proposed, includes a main shrine and several smaller shrines, a large worship area, a coatroom and shoe room. The basement includes a kitchen, a dining room that could also be used as a lecture hall and a small gift shop that would sell religious items and books.

Florida Hindus Plan New Temple

www.news-journalonline.com

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, March 11, 2006: Suryakant "Sam" Patel is president of the Hindu Cultural Association of Daytona Beach, which has bought a vacant lot on east Madison Avenue to build the city's first Hindu temple. While the association has yet to hire an architect, members said they would like to build a distinctive building with a domed roof and statues of Hindu Gods. Currently, Hindus organize a monthly worship service at the Schnebly Recreation Center on North Atlantic Avenue. The group does not have a Hindu priest, but Patel said he and others take turns in leading worship services. Some also travel to a Hindu temple in Casselberry, which was completed in 2003. Hindus want a local place of worship because they like to visit a temple daily for prayer, said Kirit Patel, a fellow member of the Hindu Association. "A lot of people like to pray early in the morning, (especially senior citizens)," said Kirit Patel, who is the associate vice president for fiscal affairs and chief accountant for Bethune-Cookman College. Local Hindus represent a "very diverse group," said Kirit Patel. The association includes educators, business owners and physicians. Like Sam Patel, about 30 percent to 40 percent of the membership is involved in the hotel industry. Because the organization has grown to include more than 300 families, members also feel like they need their own place, Sam Patel said. The association purchased a 52,000-square-foot lot on East Madison Avenue in December, according to Volusia County property appraiser records. Hindus are still raising money for the building. They would like to raise at least US$500,000, Sam Patel said.

6. SAIBANISA OFFERS PRANAMS TO “LORD SIVA”
From Sai Satcharita -chapter 28

Megha began to look upon Sai Baba as an incarnation of Shiva In order to worship Shiva, bela leaves are required and Megha used to go miles and miles every day to bring them and worship his Shiva (Baba).

Megha returned to the Wada, and drew a red Trident on the wall near Baba's picture. Next day a Ramadasi Bhakta came from Poona, saluted Baba and offered Him Pindi (an image of Shiva). At this time Megha also turned up there. Baba said to him - "See, Shankar has come, protect (i.e., worship) Him now." Megha was surprised to see Pindi following Trident immediately.

3. SRI MAHAKALESHWAR in Ujjain

On the banks of river Kshipra, the city of Ujjain exists in Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as Indrapuri Amaravati, and Avantika. Because of the number of golden towers of several temples, this town is also known as “Swarna Sringa.”

One of the seven cities of deliverance or salvation, Avantika Nagar has 7 Sagar Teerthas, 28 teerthas, 84 SiddhaLingas, 25-30 SivaLingas, Ashtabhairav, Ekadasa Rudrasthana, temples for hundreds of deities, Jalakund and monuments are there.
sthala puran

The grandeur of Mahakaleswar is indescribable. Chandrasena, the king of Ujjain was not only a scholar, but also a staunch devotee of Lord Siva. Once his friend Maheswari’s follower Manibahdra gave him a beautiful gemstone called Sundara Chintamani. It shone so bright and beautiful when Chandrasen wore it on his neck, that he looked even more glorious than the celestial gods. It would make even them feel jealous. Once, some kings went and asked Chandrasen to part with the jewel and Chandrasen promptly refused to do so. This angered the kings, who in turn attacked Chandrasena’s kingdom. When Chandrasena realized that he was surrounded by the enemy he sought the help of Mahakal. Bhagawan Shiva was pleased with his prayers and showed him a solution for his problem. Just then, by chance, a Brahman woman wandered near Mahakal, carrying her child with her, and suddenly became a widow. An illiterate boy once saw the king performing Puja in the stone and installed it in his empty house. He imagined it to be an incarnation of Shiva and started worshipping it. The boy became so engrossed in prayer and chanting, that he even forgot all about food. When his mother went to call him, any number of calls had no affect on him. He was silently praying. Angered by this, the mother who was still bound by worldly love threw away the Siva Lnga. She destroyed all the thing of worship. The boy was very sad at what his mother had done. He started to pray to Shiva with his entire concentration. Siva was not long in coming to the rescue of his devotee. This stone Siva Linga which was brought by the son of a cowherd soon became adorned with gemstones and turned into a JyotirLinga. After singing in praise of Lord Siva, when the boy returned to his house, he was amazed to find a beautiful palatial home instead. Thus, with the Grace and Blessings of Lord Siva, the boy became rich and led a very happy life.

In the mean time, the enemy kings who attacked eased Chandrasena’s empire, began to fight among themselves. They began to say king Chandrasena is a Siva devotee and Ujain itself is the city of Mahakal. It is therefore, impossible to anyone to win it. They then decided to extend a hand of friendship to king Chandrasena and together they all worshipped Mahakal.

At that time, the Vanara King Hanuman appeared there. He told the kings that only Siva could grant salvation to mankind and nobody else. Siva can be pleased with worship done even without chanting any mantras. The example of the son of cowherd is for us. Then Hanuman looked at Chandrasena with eyes filled with affection and benevolence and disappeared.
Historic glory of Ujjain

Shiva is auspicious and beautiful. Avanti Nagar is Shiva’s favorite town. Those who visit the Mahakal temple and take a darshan will never be touched by sorrows even in their dreams. Those who pray for whatever they desire to the Mahakal JyotirLinga would be granted all his/her wishes. They would attain salvation.

2/26/2006 05:20:06 -0700

There are not one but too many Sai miracles in my life. To mention a few. The first time I started believing in Sai, I prayed to Him that if he is really my Lord, He should take me to Shirdi once, but there was no chance of going to Shirdi as there was no one to take me. To my surprise, within a weeks time I was in Shirdi. Then I started believing in Him and also that miracles happen in life. My father who doesn't send me even to my relative’s house alone has consented to send me to Shirdi with not that close friend. She is my best friend now, just because she is also a Sai devotee and it is because of her that I believed in Sai. Since then there were endless miracles happening in my life every now and then. I tasted all my successes on Thursday...Baba's day.
The first of them was Biotechnology exam in first year of my graduation. I wrote it so bad and I thought would definitely fail. I cried on the day I wrote the exam, I ripped off the book in which I write my poems and felt that my life is worthless because I spent so much money on my course. I was sure that I would fail. Not only me, but also most of my friends had the same experience in that exam. Some gave blank paper and walked out. Some complained that it was not the questions were not from their syllabus, but I kept on praying God till the day I received the results. When our lecturer was reading out the numbers, we were literally panicking because so many of them failed. But our numbers were announced at last and the interesting thing was that it happened on a Thursday, and to symbolize his presence, Baba sent a rain for 5 minutes on that hot and dry day (first week of June). Is this not a miracle?

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA
Tue, 28 Feb 2006 23:27:50 -0800 (PST)

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the spirtual gems.
"In this way Baba went on giving instructions whenever necessary. If these are borne in our minds and acted upon, the spiritual goal (realization) is not far off. There is a proverb which says - "If there be my Hari (Lord), He will feed me on my cot." This proverb is only true in respect of food and clothing, but if anyone trusting in this sits quiet and does nothing in spiritual matters, he will be ruined."

Sai Ram. Strictly speaking, if a person can really sit still and do nothing, he is already enlightened. What Shri Hemadpant is alluding here is laziness. Laziness is a big evil and masquerades as surrender in the minds and speeches of pseudo-philosophers. Stilling of mind is not same as sleep. Physical inactivity is not meditation. And finally, an idle mind is a devil's workshop!

One has to exert himself to his utmost for attaining self-realization. The more he endeavours, the better for him. Sai Ram. Only after exerting, one can learn to be really still. Only after acquring possessions one can learn detachment to them.

Baba said that He was omnipresent, occupying land, air, country, world, light and heaven, and that He was not limited. To remove the misunderstanding of those, who thought that Baba was only His body - three cubits and a half in length, He incarnated Himself in this form and if any devotee meditated on Him day and night with complete self-surrender, he experienced complete union (without any difference) with Him like sweetness and sugar, waves and sea, eye and its luster. He, who wants to get rid of the cycle of births and deaths, should lead a righteous life, with his mind calm and composed. He should always engage himself in good actions, should do his duties and surrender himself, heart and soul to Him. He need not then be afraid of anything. He, who trusts Him entirely, hears and expounds His Leelas and does not think of anything else, is sure to attain Self-realization. Baba asked many to remember His name and to surrender to Him, but to those, who wanted to know who they were ('Who am I' enquiry), He advised Shravanam (study) and Mananam (meditation). To some, He advised remembering God's name, to others hearing His Leelas; to some worship of His Feet, to others reading and studying Adhyatma Ramayan, Jnaneshwari and other sacred scriptures. Some He made sit near His Feet, some He sent to Khandoba's temple, and some He advised the repetition of the thousands names of Vishnu and some the study of Chhandogya Upanishad and Geeta. There was no limit, nor restriction to His instructions. To some, He gave them in person. To others by visions in dreams. To one addicted to drink, He appeared in his dream, sat on his chest, pressed it and left him, after he gave a promise not to touch liquor anymore. To some, He explained some Mantras like `Gurur Brahma' in dreams. To some devotee, who was practicing Hath-Yoga, He sent word that he should leave off Hath-Yoga practices, sit quiet and wait (Saburi). It is impossible to describe all His ways and methods.

Sai Ram. The above is pure gold, pure nectar. It is to be read and reread several times. It gives us an idea that Sai is not a body, a saint etc. but is ParaBrahma.

We will conclude the chapter in the next issue. Sai Ram.

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my child hood.
:
The Peacock and the Tortoise

Once upon a time a peacock and a tortoise became great friends. The peacock lived on a tree on the banks of the stream in which the tortoise had his home; and daily the peacock after he had a drink of water danced near the stream and displayed his gay plumage for the amusement of his friend.

One unfortunate day, a bird-catcher who was on the prowl caught the peacock and was about taking him away to the market. The unhappy bird begged of his captor to allow him to bid his friend the tortoise good-bye, as it would be the last time he would see him.

The bird-catcher allowed him his prayer and took him to the tortoise, who was greatly moved to see his friend a captive. The tortoise asked the bird-catcher to let the peacock go; but he laughed at the request, saying that was his means of livelihood.

The tortoise then said, "If I make you a handsome present, will you let my friend go?" "Certainly," answered the bird-catcher that is all I want." Whereupon the tortoise dived into the water and in a few seconds came up with a handsome pearl, which, to the great astonishment of the bird-catcher, he handed to him. This was beyond his expectations, and he let the peacock go immediately.

A short time after, the avaricious man came back and told the tortoise that he thought he had not paid enough for the release of his friend, and threatened that, unless a match to that pearl was obtained for him, he would again catch the peacock. The tortoise, who had already advised his friend to betake himself to a distant jungle on being set free, was greatly enraged at the greed of this man.

"Well," said the tortoise, "if you insist on having another pearl like it, give it to me and I will fish you out an exact match for it." The stupidity of the bird-catcher prevented his reasoning that "one in the hand was equal to two in the bed of the stream," and he speedily gave the pearl to the wily tortoise, who swam out with it saying, "I am no fool to take one and give two!" and forthwith disappeared, leaving the bird-catcher to be sorry ever after for his covetousness.

10. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES:
Sai Eshwari 2/17/2006 21:19:49 -0800

Immortal Saint of Shirdi
Baba's 72 hours Samadhi where He decided to take His Prana high up and go into Samadhi and then returned back to consciousness (life) after three days is an evidence that Sai was not limited to the body of three and a half cubits height, but was the Self inside. The body, composed of the five elements is perishable and transient, but the Self within is the thing - Absolute Reality that is immortal and eternal. Baba said, "I am not confined within this body of three and a half cubits height, I am every where". Sai Baba expounded several times, Who this Me or I is. In His words "Barring your name and form, there exists in you as well as in all beings a sense of Being or consciousness of Existence. That is Myself" (Sri Sai Satcharitha, Chap. 43-44). Baba assured before His Mahasamadhi, "Though I pass away, My bones in My tomb will give you Hope and Confidence. Not only Myself but also My tomb would be speaking, moving and communicating with those who would surrender wholeheartedly to me. You will hear My bones speaking and discussing your welfare." (Sai Satcharitra, Chap. 25) Sai is defined "This Pure Being, Consciousness or Brahma, the Ruler and Controller of the senses and mind is the thing Sai... He pervades all animate and inanimate things and is their Inner Controller and Ruler."

(SSS Chap. 43-44). This shows Sai is immortal, birth less and deathless. Let us realize why Sainath Maharaj declared "I shall be ever active and vigorous even after leaving this earthly body." Though Baba has no body now, He is more Alive now than when He was living. This is being experienced by many who surrender themselves completely to Him and worship Him with wholehearted devotion. Saints like Baba never die; though they look like men, they are in reality God Himself.
! Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai !

Satsang Chapter 9 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram

Chapter 9:::

Sai Baba's directives to those leaving Shirdi

If any one leaves Shirdi without the permission of Baba they used to face hurdles.
* Once Tatya was eager to leave for Kopargaon in a horse drawn cart. Baba advised him to leave after some time. Neglecting His advise Tatya left immediately and he got injured when his cart hurtled.

* Once a European gentleman came for Baba's darshan. For reasons better known to Him, Baba did not allow him inside the masjid. When the displeased European wanted to leave Shirdi, Baba advised him to stay for a day. He disregarded the advise and went ahead. But his cart overturned on the way and he had to be admitted in the Kopergoan hospital.

* Smt Tharkad and her son came for summer holidays to Shirdi. The boy's father had promised to conduct the worship of Sai at home regularly. On the fourth day of their stay at Shirdi, Baba told the lady that He went that day noon to her house in Bandra and came back hungry. The boy suspected some slip in Sai's worship back home and wrote to his father to be careful in the puja. Next day a letter from his father came stating that he had failed to offer nivedya to Baba the previous noon. The letters had crossed.!

* Once Smt. Tharkad gave two brinjals to Smt. Purandare, who was going to Shirdi and told her to prepare pareet and kacharya [two kinds of preparation of brinjal] and offer them to Baba.Smt. Purandare on coming to Shirdi prepared pareet and served to Baba. Baba immediately asked for kacharya indicating that He was omniscient.

* In 1915 a boy named Mangar came to Shirdi for performing his father's annual ceremony.Smt. Tharkad gave him a sweet already offered to Baba, as nothing else was available and told him to present it to Baba. When he came for darshan he forgot about it. Baba asked him 'Did not that lady gave you sweet to be given to me?'

* Once when Smt. Tharkad was preparing rotis during noon, a dog came there and she threw a piece of roti, which was eagerly swallowed by it.When she came to the masjid Baba said : 'Mother! You fed me so sumptuously to day that my withered life forces were rejuvenated. I never speak untruth from this Masjid. The dog that you fed is united in me. Like wise all living beings . Hence, serve every being without discrimination.'

Satsang THE MERCIFUL SAI BABA (November 1985)

THE MERCIFUL SAI BABA (November 1985)"PEOPLE ARE VERY IGNORANT. WHEN THEY DO NOT SEE MY PHYSICAL BODY, THEY THINKI AM ABSENT."- Shirdi SAI BABA"The result of "Karma" is inevitable. But, by repeating the Name of God, youcan lessen its intensity. If you are destined to have a wound as wide as aploughshare, you'll get pinprick."- Holy Mother SARADAMANI DEVIIn the course of my work, I had to make a business call at SURI in BirbhumDist., West Bengal. It is my practice to carry always in my VIP brief case acabinet size coloured photograph of the SAI-Idol of Shirdi Sai Baba in theSamadhi Shrine, Sai-Udhi, Joss Sticks etc., to enable me to worship Sai evenin my tours. I boarded an Express Bus (WNM 4821) at 6.30 a.m on 5-8-'85 atthe Esplanade Bus Stand with my personal effects. The bus sped off at 7.00a.m. and I alighted at BURDWAN for snacks and tea with my co-passengers at10.25 a.m. We were allowed 10 minutes time. I went back to the bus standafter six minutes to find to my horror that the bus was gone with my VIPbrief case containing the Company's important documents also. It hurt me tothe quick; but I realized soon that only Sai Baba could rescue it for me andI should also play my part in the game. When I was to chart my course ofaction, I beheld a YEZDI nearby. I requested its driver to help me and heagreed. He drove it at 60 M.P.H. a part of the way. Then I switched over toa lorry, then to a State Bus with a view to pursuing the Express Bus butfailed. By now, I was at PANAGARH, exhausted. Despite my dedicated serviceto the helpless children of Shirdi Sai Baba, panic gripped me for while. Idid not like anything to be half-done. Suddenly the line, "Do your duty andSai will do His" hit my mind. I gathered courage and caught the 12.30 p.m.Express Bus bound for SURI. It arrived at Suri at 2.50 p.m.My living and pulsating faith in Shirdi Sai Baba helped my mind not to runamuck as thought my mind was on Sai and the important documents in the briefcase. I ran from pillar to post and finally located the Express Bus (WNM4821) near the Birbhum Cinema Hall. It was empty. Its driver and theconductor were relaxing. I related to them my woes. They suggested to me totake a close look inside the bus and try my luck and they added with a touchof Hitchcockian mystery that the bus was already swept clean by the sweepera few minutes ago. All the same, I boarded the bus and after a carefulsearch seat by seat found to my joy my VIP brief case untampered below myreserved Seat No.3. I reported my finding to them and they were taken aback, not me. I opened the brief case to show them Shirdi Sai Photo & Udhi andthey instantly saluted Him saying unconsciously that it was He who made thisbrief case invisible to the sweeper. The play of DESTINY and the mercy of Shirdi SAI BABA did not come to an endhere. On my return journey to Calcutta, I went to AHMEDPUR Railway Stn., andwaited there for boarding a connecting train to Burdwan. The scheduledBurdwan Passenger train was late. So "Kanchanjunga" Express train was theone available train to reach Burdwan. Even though it stops at AHMEDPURrailway station signal point on all nights, this night the signal was clearand it thundered past all of us. Two hours later, the Burdwan passengertrain crawled to the AHMEDPUR railway stn., i.e., at 9.20 p.m. Hardly fourpassengers were in the compartment. I grew suspicious and thought of aprobable encounter with dacoits later. Those four Bengali passengers advisedme not to take any risk but to alight at BHOLPUR and spend the night in ahotel. I heeded their advice. When I glance — at 'The Telegraph" nextdaybreak at my hotel at Bholpur, I read the report that the "Kanchanjunga"Express train that had sped past us at AHMEDPUR had collided with astationary goods train between TALIT and KANAN Jn., killing a few andinjuring many. How deeply grateful I was to Sai that He had saved me from anencounter with death. Thus Shirdi SAI BABA helped me to continue my bodily existence in thismundane world to serve His children and my dependants who are also Hisdevout children.Every act of man is a chisel stroke of destiny; but every Divine Act ofShirdi Sai Baba neutralises the negative destiny of his faithful devotee.T.R. Subject: Satsang AN ATHEIST TURNS DEVOTEE (November 1985)

AN ATHEIST TURNS DEVOTEE (November 1985)
As I believed that Sai is solely responsible for doing all the good things
or bad, (which also finally lead to good), so have I experienced, it in
life. These experiences in my life made me turn into a devotee from an
atheist. Unlike other things of the world Sai leelas are in-extinguishable
and do not have any limitations and boundaries. The recent experiences in my
life make me think that Sai cares, for each and everyone who comes to Him in
good faith, whether he is a devotee or not. Really I also experienced the
truth of His words "If you look upto me I look after you", "Cast all your
burden on me and I shall bear it".

It was from my early childhood that I saw the photo of an oldman being
garlanded, in most of my relatives houses, and on asking, came to know that
it was of the Shirdi Sai Baba. Towards the end of 1981, I unexpectedly got a
chance to visit Shirdi in the company of my mother because of her long
standing desire to go there. She had considered Sai Baba as her Guru and
also benefactor. She became a staunch devotee only due to a sudden and
unbelievable arrival of the photo of Shri Shirdi Saibaba followed by Shri
Sai Satcharitra. After finishing the first reading of the book, she felt so
peaceful and overjoyed that she automatically started worshipping Him as her
Guru and Saviour.

In the following year I got married. This was the first proposal for me
which came from a middle class family, and my mother entrusted the matter to
the decision of Shri Sai Baba and waited patiently for His guidance. In the
meantime she completed one parayana of Shri Sai Satcharita. She thought that
if the proposal moved further smoothly without our intervetion then she
would accept it, thinking that it had Baba's blessings. Thus keeping full
belief in Him,, she accepted the proposal which progressed smoothly without
any initiative on our part. Everyone gave his consert, but it was a tough
thing for my father to okay it as he had some other plans, for my future.
But my mother was able to convince my father about the suitability of the
match and he too gave his consert. Sai's miracle did not stop here. The
cermony was carried out with great pomp and solemnity. As it was a suddenly
settled marriage, it was difficult for us to find the necessary money. This
difficulty was also taken over by Sai, as money came pouring in from our
Income source and some we had to borrow. Now this borrowed money was repayed
within a short time. The real miracle had yet to come. Immediately after my
marriage my husband fell ill, without any symptoms. The illness was so
severe that his healthy body was reduced to skin and bone. We were all
perturbed and lost our mental peace as usually the newly married bride is
blamed for all the bad times her family has tp go through. My mother shed
tears and prayed to Lord Sai, to save us from any disaster and promised to
send us to Shirdi on the recovery of her son-in-low. He miraculously
recovered and we visited Shirdi in fulfilment of my mother's vow. Later we
came to know that it was truly a miracle which saved him. From that day
onward I completely surrendered myself to His feet and started worshipping
Him wholeheartedly.

I always pray to Lord Sai that he should always keep His devotees at His
feet and shower His blessings on them and also see that they slip not from
the path of devotion.

Mrs. Anuradha

Satsang SRI SAINATH PRATHYAKSHA DEVAM (November 1985)

SRI SAINATH PRATHYAKSHA DEVAM (November 1985)
On 15-10-1984, the wedding ceremony of my daughter Kum.
Niveditha was over by 11.30 a.m. All had feasted and were
resting. I was deeply thinking of the insufficient money
that was on hand to meet the future expenditure connected
with the amount, as I could not approach anybody in that
hour of need for monetary help. To whom could I appeal and
ask for money except Sri Sai at such a crucial juncture? I
closed my eyes and prayed to Sri Sai for help. I have
complete faith in His "Bhakthapalana" nature. Throwing my
budern on Him, I kept quite as nothing could be done by me
without His Grace. Just then a close relative came and sat
by my side. He is a rich man too. But my mind did not permit
me to request him for money. We were talking about something
when our Dhobi came to me with his towel closed with his hands.
Of his own accord he told me that the man who took loan from
his mother about five years back had repaid the amount of Rs.
6,000/- though the life of the promissory note expired. So
saying he placed the amount of Rs. 6.000/- (Rupees six thousand
only) in the form of Rs. Rs.20/- denomination notes in three
bundle of hundred each in my hands, asking me to take the amount
as I might be in need of money connected with marriage. He also
said that no promissory note need be written by me for the given
amount and said that I could repay the money at my convenience.
So saying, he handed over the amount and immediately left the
place,  giving me no time even to express my gratitude. Who else
is that  Dhobi except Sri Sai in that form? In 'Charters and
sayings written  by Sri H.H.B.V. Narasimhaswamy, Baba pronounced
"If you want money  Rs. I/- or Rs. 10/- or any you ask me for
anything and I am here to give". His emphatic pronouncements are
effective even to-day
though He cast off His mortal coil in 1918,
if the prayers of His  trusted men are sincere and firm. My joy
knew no bounds. What could  I do except to offer my humble pranams
to Him with folded palms?
Even to-day, people who have not seen Sri Sai in flesh and blood
need  not be discouraged for not having had the opportunity to
have His blessings in person. If one has absolute faith in Him
and completely surrenders himself at the sacred lotus feet of Sri
Sai, the devotee's  prayers are answered.
Nothing is difficult to achieve for a Sai devotee, provided, the
Bhakta approaches Him sincerely with devotion.
