Satsang APPA KULKARNI

Satsang APPA KULKARNI
APPA KULKARNI
Keshav Anant alias Appa Kulkarni, a resident of Shirdi village, was a
devotee of Baba for a long time. He was a staunch proponent of truth;
but he was very egoistic. He had deep faith in Baba; but he was a
harassed man - as if the sins of his earlier birth were after him.
He was accused of misappropriation in some government matter. The
news spread very fast in the village and without verificaton of the
truth, a rumor - that Appa Kulkarni was a cheat and has swindled
money - started circulating. There was a talk that a case would be
filed against him.
The then district collector officer sent a word to Appa and called
him to give his statement. Appa got scared and started saying that
- ‘‘Now, I cannot return home.’’
Before under taking the journey, as per usual practice, he went to bow
before Baba. He prostrated before Baba and pleaded, ‘‘Baba, You are my
father and You are my mother. You know, whether the accusation is true
or false. If something happens to me, it will be You Who will be
blamed. Please, save me from this peril !’’
Hearing the utterances of Appa, Baba took pity on him. He said, ‘‘Appa,
do not fear. Presently, the district officer is at village Nevase -
the same place where Sant Dnyaneshwar wrote his treatise Dnyaneshwari
- First there, take Darshan of Mohiniraja and bow down before him !
Then go to the Saheb ! The Mohiniraja will protect you.’’
Appa did exactly what he was told. After bowing down before Mohiniraja,
he went to the Saheb’s office and wrote down his statement. After going
through it, the Saheb said, ‘‘I am convinced that you have not
defalcated money. Therefore, I am releasing you.’’
Appa danced with joy. Next day he returned to Shirdi, held on tightly
to Baba’s feet and said, ‘‘Baba, You saved my reputation. I am ever
grateful to You.’’ Baba replied, ‘‘Who am I ? This was done by the
Parameshwar. He turns impossible into possible, Appa !’’
Appa devoted his life to Baba. Baba also brought other devotees closer
through Appa. Amongst such devotees, prominent was Nanasaheb Chandorkar
- a highly learned and high ranking govt. official.
Around 1892, Nanasaheb - who was then residing at Kalyan – was appointed
as secretary to the collector of Ahmednagar. Baba called Appa and told
him, “Go, and tell that Nana that I have called him !” Appa delivered
Baba’s message to Nanasaheb.
How could believe this ? He said, “Why Baba is calling me ? And why are
you taking His name ? Tell me clearly what you want !”
Then Appa narrated the incident in detail to Nanasaheb and convinced
him that it was really Baba Who had sent the message.

Subject: Satsang APPA KULKARNI (contd....)
APPA KULKARNI
in the same year, like Nanasaheb, Baba also brought Shri Narayan Krishna
Pendse and his devout wife through Appa Kulkarni to His Darbar.
Pendse’s wife was very pious. Everyone called her ‘Maai’. Hearing about
Baba ’s reputation, she was keenly anxious to take His Darshan. But,
Pendse himself never believed in such matters. He said to her, “There
is no saint in Shirdi that you talk of. However, in a Masjid there, a
mad and pretentious Muslim Fakir sits. The villagers are crazy after
him. According to the information that I have received, this beggar
from the Masjid goes from door to door, collects alms and survives.”
However, his wife was restless. Considering her anxiety, Baba managed
a coincidence. Pendse was required to go to Shirdi for some Govt. work.
His wife accompanied him and when he proceeded for his work, she came
to the Masjid and took Baba’s Darshan. On returning home, she narrated
the incident to Pendse and said, “He is really a saint. Do not criticize
Him or blame Him. Take His Darshan and enjoy the bliss !”
Then Pendse came to the Masjid. When he came near to the steps, Baba
roared, “I am warning you. Do not come forward. I am pretentious and
mad Muslim. You are high caste Brahmin. Then why do you come to take
my Darshan ?” Pendse was stunned to hear his exact words coming out
of Baba’s mouth. He became restless to have Baba’s Darshan. He caught
hold of Appa Kulkarni and with his influence availed Baba’s Darshan.
Once, Appa was sitting with Baba in the Masjid as per his usual
practice.
While chitchatting, Baba said to him, “You see Appa, thieves are going
to visit our village today. They are not going to commit dacoity; but
they are concentrating on the main wealth. They commit their act so
fast and with such expertise that even if you are alert, you get
heated. Go and see, what precautions you can take. Because, today
they are going to raid you !”
At that time, there were signs that an epidemic of cholera was likely
to break-out. But, nobody could see it coming. Taking Baba’s words
literally, Appa started making preparations. He put guards to protect
property. It was night time and Appa started having vomits and loose
motions. His hands and legs became cold turned stiff like wood. His
pulse slowed down.
Seeing that his end is near, his wife panicked. She was sure that
soon she would become a widow. She rushed to Baba and pleaded to save
her husband. She asked for Udi. But, Baba consoled her that “One day
every living being has to face death. But, the soul lives for ever.
Take courage and face the reality.”
Hearing these words, the lady took control of herself. She went home
and after some time Appa went to his heavenly abode. Next day, 2-3
more people took ill. The villagers rushed to Baba. He said, “Totally
seven persons will die and then the disease will leave this village.”
Accordingly, seven persons passed away and the epidemic disappeared.
Appa was fortunate to have the love and affection of his Sadguru.

Satsang Affection of Sri Sai Baba by Omprakash S. Mehta

Satsang Affection of Sri Sai Baba by Omprakash S. Mehta
Affection of Sri Sai Baba
This event is of 1st September 1985. I had invited some of my guests for
lunch and they were sitting in the drawing room where in every corner Sri
Sai Baba's Photo's were hung. Suddenly one of my guests started joking, "Mr.
Mehta, you have got Sai Baba's picture every where in the room; what do you
get by this?" I told them every thing which I wished to the peace of mind
and that I get from the feeling that from every direction God is looking my
activities. Another guest asked, "Does it mean that Sai Baba knows what you
do at what time?" I said, "Yes, he also knows that today you have been
invited here". Suddenly my hand was raised and there appeared Baba's
Vibhuti. They were looking surprisingly I told see this is God's gift, you
are very lucky that God has given this at the right time to bless you. They
were very much impressed by this and asked me the way of worshiping. I told
them to remember Him whenever the time permits them from the depth of heart.
Thus Lord Sai helps me in increasing the love and devotion towards him. I
pray to the almighty to show the same affection to all other loving devotees
too.

Satsang LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI

Satsang LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI
LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI
Laxmanrao Kulkarni Ratnaparkhi was maternal uncle of Madhavrao Deshpande. He
was a resident of Shirdi itself. He was an orthodox Brahmin. He used to
follow the laws of touchability and religious rites very rigorously.
As Laxmanrao was the maternal uncle of Madhavrao, he was known as ‘Laxman
Mama’ in the village. He was the Vatandar Kulkarni and Gram Joshi of Shirdi
Village.
While the devotees were experiencing Baba’s miracles, Laxmanrao maintained a
distance from such things. He not only had no faith in Baba, but he was a
very staunch opponent of Him.
An unlearned person is likely to fall into prey to bad ompany and habits. He
may listen only to his ego and have belief only in himself. Gradually, he
starts thinking that he is bigger than God. To bring such a person to the
proper path, Bhagvant gives him certain jolts. The person starts coming back
to his senses. Then, the Almighty enters his inner soul and gives him
deliverance.
It so happened with Laxmanrao. The great egoist fell ill with an incurable
disease. His sufferings knew no limits in spite of the various remedies he
tried. Ultimately - as a last resort - he came to Baba’s Masjid.
Baba looked at him with tranquil eyes, moved his hand over Laxmanrao’s body
and said, “Go ! Allah will set things right.”
There was a miraculous change in Laxmanrao from the time he stepped into the
Masjid. On top of it, he had the blessings of Baba. From that moment, he
became a devotee of Baba.
On another occasion, Baba took a test of Laxmanrao.
Bappaji was the only son of Laxmanrao. When he was young, he ailed from some
incurable disease. But, now Laxmanrao had faith in Baba. Therefore, along
with other medial remedies, everyday he started bringing Udi from Baba’s own
hands and giving through water to Bappaji.
However, there came a time, when people felt that the body is going to be
lost for ever. Laxmanrao rushed to the Masjid. He prostrated hemself at Baba
’s Feet and cried, “Baba, save my son ! Oh, my God, I bow before you.”
But, suddenly, Baba shouted at him, ‘‘Go away !’’ He even started showering
abuses. Laxmanrao got scared. He was unable to understand Baba’s strange
behaviour.
In reality, now Laxmanrao had started believing in Baba. However, his old
traits had not been completely eradicated. Some of his ego was still
lingering. A few questions and doubts used to crop up in his mind - time and
again.
With a heavy heart, Laxmanrao returned home. And after some time, Baba got
up from His place. He came down the steps of the Masjid and straight away
went to Laxmanrao’s home. With love and affection, He moved His hand over
Bappaji’s body and immediately turned back. From that moment, Bappaji got
relief.
Now Laxmanrao began believing that Baba is God Incarnat. He decided that in
his every deed he will remember Baba.
Early every morning, Laxmanrao used to complete the rituals of Snan-sandhya
and then came to the Masjid to avail Baba’s Darshan. He used to wash Baba’s
Feet (Pad-prakshalan), used anoint Gandha Akshata, draw a Tilak, place
flowers and Tulsi leaves, offer Dhoop - Deep -Naivedya and Dakshina.
Thereafter, he used to prostrate himself before Baba and take His blessings.
He used to distribute Prasad amongst those present. And then, he used to
proceed to perform Pooja of other Gods and Goddesses of the village. This
was his daily routine and he adhered to it till the end. With great
devotion, he served Baba.
After the demise of Baba’s loved devotee Megha, it was Bapusaheb Jog who
used to perform Baba’s Pooja at all times. In the afternoon of 15th October,
1918 - on the auspicious day of Dassera - Baba took Maha-nirvan. On the same
night, He appeared in the dream of Laxmanrao and told him, “Bapusaab will
not come to perform my Kakad Aarati. He thinks, I am dead. But, I am alive.
You come and perform my Kakad Aarati.”
There was havoc after the Maha-nirvan of Baba. Everyone was moved with deep
grief. On that night, Baba’s mortal body was placed in Masjid itself. Next
day, it was moved to Butti Wada. Therefore, as instructed by Baba in the
dream, Laxmanrao arrived at the Masjid with full preparations for performing
Pooja. He prostrated before Baba, removed the cloth covering the face and
took the last Darshan, and proceeded to perform Pooja. Many - who were
present experienced Baba’s hands moving at that time.
Time and again, Laxman Mama’s eyes were getting filled up with tears. His
body was trembling. In that state, he opened Baba’s closed fist, placed Vida
Dakshina, covered the body and departed from there.
Thereafter, the noon Aarati was performed by Bapusaheb Jog and in the
evening Baba’s body was brought to Butti Wada...
This was the way in which Baba showered His blessings upon Laxman Mama. Baba
entered Mama’s dream and made him perform the Aarati.
After Laxman Mama’s demise, his only son Bappaji became Vatandar Kulkarni
and Gram Joshi of Shirdi Village. Bappaji was fortunate enough to be around
Baba for close to twelve years when Baba was Dehdhari.
Bappaji said that Baba believed in reincarnation of man.
In the year 1917, Lokmanya Tilak had come to Shirdi and offered coconut and
garland to Baba. Baba returned the coconut as a Prasad to Tilak. Bappaji was
present in the Masjid at that time.
Bappaji was a good Keertankar. He was well read as far as religious books
are concerned.

Satsang Pure heart is -------------

Pure heart is when you dont think bad about anyone. Pure heart is when you
dont let jealousy ,greed ,anger or lust be in your heart or mind. Pure heart
is when you forgive and forget ,the bad behaviour of people who are against
you .Pure heart is when U beleive that you will do ur good karma no matter
how hard it is for you cos in the end it is Baba who is with u and what ever
the outcome will be -it will be for your best. Pure heart is when instead of
arguing with someone or gossiping about someone , you choose to be
quiet.Arguing will just give rise to anger and ego which will destroy our
peace of mind .And gossiping about someone is like pointing four fingers at
yourself when you point 1 finger towards someone else, after all we are not
perfect so we are not in a position to comment or judge about other people's
karma.Pure heart is when you try your level best not to have ego . Pure
heart is where love ,peace of mind and SAI lives.

Satsang Inspirations from Sai Vichaar

Satsang Inspirations from Sai Vichaar

Man walks from "EVERYTHING" to "NOTHING":-
The inward journey from the "world's everything" leads one to find the "soul's nothing". In NOTHING he suddenly finds he has EVERYTHING. The inward journey to find our soul results in the bliss where we find "everything", "The happiness".
There are two choices in this world. 1. Getting higher positions, high qualifications, more money or 2. Living with what we get, following the chosen path, loving and serving others. The first choice will boost our ego. The second choice will give us holy ash. Now, the choice is ours...
Love All Serve All:-
God gets expressed in us, when we are loving and serving others. Other times He does not get expressed in us because we are busy thinking with our ego about our selves...So we cannot blame God for not being with us at those moments..
Unity in Diversity (A logical investigation):-
Sai Baba says he is inside everybody. So, "you" (your name for example, Shanthi., .Ganesh., Peter, ..George, ...Chang, ..Mohamed. .etc) are inside every body else.
If you see YOUR SELF in the EYES of people you meet everyday... then you are very closer to Swamy. LOOK FOR THE LOVE OR SEARCH FOR THE LOVE INSIDE OTHERS EVERY DAY.....this is the first most important step in finding Sai Baba.
You will definitely find "Baba" in people you meet. Initially it might be a difficult task, may be even frightening! But, you will become used to meeting Baba wherever you go.

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Pitru Yagna
.Let us now take Pitru Yagna-the offering to the ancestors. A devotee had
not been performing the "Sradha" of his late father. In "Sradha" the food is
offered to the pitras and ultimately everything reaches the foot of Lord
Vishnu-"Vishmi Pade Dattam". On seeing the particular devotee Shri Baba
said, "This man has starved me and his father". By this statement Shri Baba
made two things clear. First, the importance of Pitru Yagna. Second that He
was Vishnu reincarnated.

Deva Yagna
We next take up Deva Yagna - the offering to Gods. Instances abound in
Shri Baba's life and teachings, where he emphasized the importance of
offering to Gods. Shri Baba Himself whenever "He cooked food, first offered
it to God before distributing it to others. When Nana bypassed Datta's
temple to avoid an offering of Rs. 500/-, which he had vowed, Shri Baba
chided him and refused to talk to him and Nana realised his mistake. Shri
Baba advised all His devotees not to neglect the worship and offerings to
their family deities. Shama had to offer silver breasts to the Goddess
Saptashringi to fulfill the long standing vow of his late mother. When he
approached Shri Baba with the silver offerings, He refused to accept them
(although He identified Himself with Lakshmi) and directed him to make a
pilgrimage to the temple of the Goddess and make the offering there.

Bhoota Yagna
Bhoota Yagna comes next. This is the offering to beings. Shri Baba used to
beg for His food and on His return to Dwarakamai he used to deposit the food
in a kundi. Dogs, cats and crows ate the food from the kundi freely. Once
when Mrs. Tarkhad was carrying specially made dishes for Shri Baba, a hungry
dog turned up. Mrs. Tarkhad threw some food for the dog. When she reached
Dwarkamai Shri Baba told her, "Mother! Take pity on Me like this. First give
food to the hungry and then eat yourself". Shri Baba added further, "The dog
which you saw before meals and to whom you gave the piece of bread is one
with me, so also other creatures. He, who sees Me in all these creatures is
my beloved".

Manushya or Atithi Yagna
Lastly comes the Manushya or Atithi Yagna or the offering to men or
uninvited guests. Shri Baba always said that without "Rinanubandh" nobody
comes to any one. To quote the words of Shri Baba, "Unless there is some
relationship or connection nobody goes anywhere. If any man or creature
comes to you, do not discourteously drive him away but receive him well and
treat him well. Lord Hari will be certainly pleased if you give water to the
thirsty, bread to the hungry, clothes to the naked and your verandah to the
strangers for sitting and resting". By numerous incidents, Shri Baba
encouraged those who followed this advice and scolded those who behaved
rudely to beggars and strangers; the compassion which Shri Baba himself
showed to the poor and needy cannot be described in words.

All the above examples show that Shri Baba was the greatest exponent of the
Vedic and Upanishadic teachings by His words and more than that by His
deeds. As devotees of Shri Baba, it is our duty to meditate on His teachings
and lead our lives accordingly. That is the surest way of pleasing Baba and
getting his ever lasting blessings.

Satsang Sai is Still Living

Satsang Sai is Still Living

Sai is Still Living

According to the Chapter 27 of Shri Sai Satcharita, Shri Sai Baba gave
EKNATH Bhagwat to his devotee Shyama for his spiritual welfare and
blessings. In the same way I relate my story of Shri Sai Satcharit given to
me by Shri Sai Baba.

In June 1976, I visited Shirdi accompanied by my husband and my only son,
whom I got with Lord Sai's blessings. My husband purchased a copy of Sai
Satcharit in English. I insisted that the Hindi Edition of the Book should
be purchased; but he was not agreeable as he did not know Hindi
conversantly. On coming back to Delhi I was wonderstruck to know that a copy
of the Hindi Edition of Shri Sai Satcharit was found near my book shelf, of
course without the first picture page. Since then, I am reading one chapter
of the book daily and I am experiencing His grace and mental peace even now
in the rowdy world.

Satsang How Baba Redeems His Pledge

Satsang How Baba Redeems His Pledge

How Baba Redeems His Pledge
"Cast all your burdens on me and I shall bear them" was the pledge given by
Shri SAIBABA, for the benefit of humanity. The devotee has to do his part in
a spirit of complete surrender, and BABA had never failed HIS devotees.
Since nearly four decades, I and the members of my family have been
experiencing the redemption of this pledge by BABA. There was never a
problem in our lives, which could not be solved by HIS grace. There were
innumerable instances when we turned to Him for succor and guidance and we
were never disappointed. I would crave the indulgence of the kind readers,
to mention two or three of several such instances,

In 1959 my only son had appeared for his B. E. mechanical, final examination
and came home to spend his summer vacation with us. I found him unusually
brooding. When pressed, he revealed the cause. He was worried because he did
not fare well in his examination. He was expecting his first ever failure in
his academic career. Since childhood he was a very sensitive child. I prayed
to BABA to come to his help and vowed to send a certain amount to Shirdi
Sansthan, for poor feeding. A few days later, I had a dream in which BABA
was sitting on the branch of a huge tree, the top of which was in the
clouds. HE stretched HIS hand towards me from the sky demanding HIS money.
After I woke up the daily paper came in the morning and I was happy to find
my boy's number in the list of successful candidates. I immediately sent the
amount to Shirdi.

A few years back all the members of our family went to Tirupati in our car
for the tonsure ceremony of my grand-son. One night, prior to our departure,
I had a dream. In the dream, we were traveling in our car along a very
narrow forest road. Our journey was obstructed by a big tree which fell
right across the narrow road. There was no way of by passing the road block.
We tried to remove the tree; but it did not budge. While we were waiting in
despair, a villager wearing soiled and torn clothes came there. He laughed
at us, coming to know about our predicament and questioned me "You are so
many and why don't you all make an effort to remove the tree". I
told him that we have tried and failed. He said he would assist us and
we all tried again. Our contribution was of no consequence, as he pulled the
tree from the road with ease. I felt grateful to him and thanked him
profusely and offered him some of the eatables which we had in
the car. He ate them with relish and wanted some more. We gave him
some more. He again wanted some more and thus he ate all, that
was available in the car. After that he again asked for something
more and I told him that nothing was left with us.

Satsang Baba's Udi Miracles by The Late M. Narasimha Rao,

Satsang Baba's Udi Miracles by The Late M. Narasimha Rao,

Baba's Udi Miracles
We are well-conversant with numerous miracles of Baba's Udi (Sacred ash or
Vibhuti) from study of Sai-Satcharitra. We also share with great interest
the numerous personal experiences of our Sai-brothers and Sai-sisters
regarding the same when we open the pages of the reputed Journal "Shri
Sai-Leela".

I am also tempted to narrate herewith some of my personal experiences about
Udi. It may not be out of place to refer to my previous article in Hindi
"Vibhuti Ki Alaukik Leela" (Shri Sai-Leela December '83). It is interesting
to note that the Tin Box, in which the School Mistress was supplied a small
quantity of Udi from our house about 10 years back, is never empty up till
now, though Udi is being taken out from the box daily for her own use and
for other members of her family. Thanks due to Mahaprabhu's touch, prayed
that he should continue to be afflicted with the disease, as only then, his
thoughts would be always centered on the Lord, he said, Ordinary people rail
at Cod even for little adversities in life, holding Him responsible though
they are only reaping the consequences of their past misdeeds.

Yet, there is the famous example of Kunti Devi, the mother of the Pandava
princes who prayed to Sri Krishna that she be visited ever with disasters
and distress every now and then, so that she could always remember the Lord!
What a strange prayers they were to the Supreme Lord by His sincere
devotees!

Kuchela (Sudhama) a classmate of Shree Krishna when he visited the latter
has absolutely forgotten to request for financial help though he was very
poor. One should never have or experience "Penuary" of heart in praying to
God.

One need not ask or seek any thing from the Supreme Lord who is omniscient,
omnipresent, and omnipotent. He ever knows well His devotees' plight and
whether one craves or not for His Divine help it simply flows to His
devotees in times of need or an 'Emergency' This is the experience of God's
true bhaktas. Lord Vishnu rescued His Devotee Gajendra after the latter
completely surrendered himself to His divine will after his great struggle
and after severe test he was put to by the God. Several Legends and Leelas
of God amply testify about this baffling Divine ways or Leelas of God.

Our Akhilanda Koti, Brahmanda Nayaka, Yogadhi Raja, Sachhitananda,
Parabrahma, Samarth Sadguru Shree Sai Nath Maha Raj knows well as to what
should be granted, and when to be granted, irrespective of His Devotees
prayers for His boons according to their eligibility for His boons to
receive them at the appropriate time and place as per His Divine will. The
Leelas in Sri Sat Charita are replete with such anecdotes graphically giving
the experiences of ankita children of Shree Saibaba of Shirdi.

Even though one casts his burden on His divine shoulders, and looks up to
Him for His help and guidance, he, must practice tooth and nail His two (2)
great commands to Shraddha (i.e. faith with devotion) and Saburi (i.e.
Courage with Patience) to become eligible for Shree Sai Baba's Divine grace
in life! He says "Ever carry Me, in your heart!" from His Mahasamadhi, which
is effectively communicating and speaking to His true devotees day by day!

Jai Sai Ram! "Let us Bow to Shree Sai — Be Peace be to All"

Satsang Thought for the day

Satsang Thought for the day

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For beautiful eyes, seek out the good in other people.

To lose weight, let go of stress and the need to control others.

To improve your ears, listen to the word of God.

For poise, walk with knowledge and self-esteem.

To strengthen your arms, hug at least three people

a day.

To strengthen your heart, forgive yourself and others.

Touch someone with your love.

Rather than focus upon the thorns of life, smell the roses and count your blessings.

Don't worry and hurry so much...

Rather walk this earth lightly and yet leave your mark!

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

He constantly and invariably prides himself in ruining and in the ruins of
others Thus he not only mars his own life but mars the life of those around
him. Here his intellect works like a knife in the hands of a murderer that
wroughts the hedious, murderous and inhuman act of treachery. Here this
inanimate object-the knife-feels very sorry for having seen the light of the
day and being possessed by an inhuman creature, to suffer the hell for
having done some inhuman act. Thus such a man becomes a nuisance and an
obnoxious person to the society.

The root cause of this inhuman behaviour is the Ego, 'the I-feeling*. The
Ego I all through the life of a man right from the cradle to the grave
completely pervades and incessantly dictates the human mind and paves the
way for a hedious hell. This Ego ‘I' makes him forget all the invaluable
values attached to the sense of honesty, faithfulness, truthfulness,
sincerity, compassion, love, non-violence and thereby giving place to
unauthenticity, disloyalty, falsehood, frivolity, fraud, distrust, cruelty,
hatred, malice, and violence at last. The treasure of all the good qualities
is disappearing from the dictionary and vanishing from the human mind and
soul.

This I feeling goads a man to tresspass over the rights of others just for
the sake of satisfaction of his own 'selfish instincts. The states and
countries also will never prove an exception to this egocentric instinct.
The very frequent clashes between nations and nations even with the coming
up of U. N. O. with a very benevolent desire to pave the way for universal
peace, are the very valid and outstanding proofs of this inhuman act. As
long as man is under the spell of egocentrism he runs after a shadow. Once
he throws off this false guise and frees himself from the clutches of
illusion then only he begins to think of the substance, the reality. But he
gets this spark in him only when he completely submits and surrenders
himself at the holy feet and sweet will of Sadguru Sai Baba.

The prudent man will never give any undue value to this illusory and
deluding world and this perishable and muddy body. He will always feel that
this life is a peregrination between life and death and he himself a
traveller resting for a while in this earth, the caravanserai till his
journey's end serving the human souls for which he is sent for and to return
to his real and eternal home, the Heaven. This is one way of looking at the
life.

Another way of looking at life is that this Universe is a vessel in which he
is journeying in the sea of mundane existence the driver of which is Baba
the Almighty and the-all-pervading. Here he submits himself completely to
the sweet will of Baba the God either to take him safe to the shore or to
drown him half way in the sea as we completely surrender ourselves to the
sweet will and fancy of the driver of a bus, a train or plane when we are
travelling during the course of our daily routine life either to take us
towards the destination or to meet with some sudden disastrous accident half
way.
This sort of complete surrender and submission to Sadguru Sai Baba will only
help the poor suffering souls to attain salvation from the wheel of life
revolving on the axis of birth and rebirth.

Shri Baba Converts "No" into "Yes"
Four years preceding 1976, much though I wished to appear for B.A.
Examination; I could not do so. For some or other urgent domestic problems
invariably cropped up at the examination time compelling me to give up the
idea of doing the Examination.

Finally, I resolved that come what may, I would do it in October, 1976.
Accordingly, I saw my Officer and spoke to him of my plans. He bluntly told
me that he would not sanction my leave and advised me to appear in 1977.
Despite my Officer's "No" I made an application for leave and sincerely
prayed Shri Baba to sanction it.

On the day I wrote my application, the Chairman of our Bombay Port Trust,
visited our Office and was pleased with the Work-diary maintained by me. The
Officer, who, had declined to sanction my leave had accompanied the Chairman
with our Head of Department. He too was pleased. Next day, I was informed
that my leave was sanctioned by the Officer who had earlier refused to do
so.
I thanked Shri Baba for converting “No” into “Yes”.

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Shri Baba and Vedic Religion
The other day, I was reading the text of a talk by the venerable Kanchi
Acharya Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham at
Kancheepuram). The Acharya has emphasized that Pancha Yagaa (Five kinds of
Sacrifices) is the best means of atonement of sins and final salvation. The
five kinds of Yagna are:
1. Brahma Yagna or Vedadhyan - Offerings to a Brahman or the study of
Vedas.
2. Pitru Yagna - Offerings to the ancestors.
3. Deva Yagna - Offerings to Gods
4. Bhoota Yagna - Offerings to the beings.
5. Manushya or Atithi Yagna - Offerings to men or uninvited guests.

When I read this, my mind went to our Shri Baba. He, who had taken Avatar
for the emancipation of mankind, had endorsed by his words and deeds the
Upanishad teachings in letter and spirit. A study of Sai Satcharita amply
illustrates this. What I am attempting is to highlight certain incidents and
teachings of Shri Baba, which emphasize the importance of the five Yagnas.

Brahma Yagna
Baba loved those, who studied Brahma Vidya and encouraged them. Once,
Bapusaheb Jog received a post-parcel. It contained a copy of Gita Rahasya by
Lokmanya Tilak. Taking it under his armpit, he went to Sri Baba and
prostrated himself before Him. Shri Baba told him "Read this completely and
you will be benefited". It was a common sight in Dwarkamai to see orthodox
Vaishnavites and Agnihotris chanting Vedas, Upanisbads and the Gayatri in
the presence of Shri Baba and feel most elevated. Yet Shri Baba knew that
the study of Vedas and Upanishads was possible only for a few. So for many,
Shri Baba showed a simpler path. He encouraged Shama, Purandare and many
others to study Vishnu Sahasranamam. He directed Swami Vijayanand to do
continuous reading of Bhagawat (to ensure continuous remembrance of Hari)
just before the Swami left his mortal coils. Many of the devotees read
Adhyatma Ramayan, Jnaneshwari and other scriptures under Shri Baba's
guidance. The episode of Shri Baba expounding the meaning of a verse from
Bhagwat Gita to Nana, is too well known. The other interesting incident is
the teaching of the meaning of Isha Upanishad to Das' Ganu. Shri Baba also
knew that for many devotees even the study of scriptures was too much. He,
therefore pointed out to them other simpler ways. He told Mrs. Khaparde
always to chant "Rajaram" and added "If you do this, your life's object will
be gained. Your mind will attain peace and you will be immensely benefited".
Another devotee was reminded in a subtle way the mantra given to him by his
guru "Shri Ram Jay Ram Jay Jay Ram". Perhaps the simplest path shown by Him
was the chanting of Sai Ram. "If a man utters my name with love, I shall
fulfill all his wishes and increase his devotion. The simple remembrance of
my name as 'SAI SAI' will do away with sins, of speech and hearing,"

Satsang Meaning of sraddha

Satsang Meaning of sraddha

Posted by: "G. Balasubramanian"
*Dear Brothers and Sisters,*
Let us now take up the term Sraddha for elaboration.*

*What is meant by Sraddha? Sankaracharya defines this term as follows:-*
*"That by which one understands the exact import of the scriptures as well
as the pregnant words of advice of of the preceptor (Sastrasya Guruvakyasya
Satyabuddhi Avadharana) is called Sraddha by the wise( Sa Sraddha kathita
sadbih);by this alone does Reality become manifestly clear(Yaya
Vastoopalabhyate)."*
**
*Sraddha is the fifth of the qualifications found necessary in an aspirant.
Sraddha is not blind faith as it is generally understood. It is not a mere
static belief (viswas) swallowing everything that is said by another
authority without subjecting it to evidential tests. It is a healthy attempt
at a clear intellectual appreciation of the secret depths of the
significances underlying the words of the scriptures and the Spiritual
Master (Guru). It is an essential requisite for anyone trying to master the
truths of the scriptures. The scriptures give us ,through a technique of
suggestions, as clear a description of the Infinite Truth as possible,
through finite words . As such, the pure Consciousness which is the core of
Reality can not be defined or expressed in words and this supreme point of
human evolution can only be indicated by the scriptures. If the words
indicating Truth are to be correctly interpreted, understood and efficiently
made use of , an honest and sincere effort on the part of the students and
seekers is absolutely necessary. This capacity through sincere effort to
realise the words of the scriptures in all their suggestiveness is termed as
Sraddha.*
**
*In a man possessing Sraddha there is no room for frivolity, vascillation,
scepticism, arrogance and pretence. Devotion, adoration, oblation,
sacrifice and prayer become complete and blemishless, if only they are
performed with Sraddha , which sums up the God-receptive attitude of
man. Sraddha
is the warp and woof of man. The Gita says,"Man is man, only in the measure
of the Sraddha he poseeses (Sraddhaamayah ayam purushah yah yat sraddhah sa
eva sah). Sankaracharya provides another definition for Sraddha as Aastikya
buddhih, which when translated means,'the positive attitude oriented
reason'. In the Kathopanishad the student Nachiketa is presented as
possessed of Sraddha(shraddhaavivesa). He was in search of Truth and he
had a deep faith and firm conviction that the profound Truth lay behind the
diverse phenomena of nature and life. The basic positive attitude to the
unknown dimension of Reality is called Sraddha. It is the faith in our
capacity to unravel the mystery and for a sincere and sustained search in
that direction. *
**
*We can understand the meaning and significance of Sraddha better through
the opposite term for Sraddha, viz., Asraddha meaning no faith or
cynicism. Asraddha is the character of a cynic who has no faith in himself
or in the world around him. While Sraddha denotes a totality of positive
attitudes, a cynic is afflicted with a totality of negative attitudes.
Absecnce of faith spells the spiritual death of a man. It scorns all
values. Asraddha sets in when man is spiritually weakened through an
over-emphasis on material things and organ-based satisfactions and through
consequent neglect of the ever present datum of the divine Spark in man and
nature. One who is possessed of unflinching faith is called Sraddhavaan in
the Gita. He who lacks faith can never be regarded as qualified to receive
knowledge. Lord Krishna declares in the Gita, " One possessed of Shraddha
attains Knowledge,(Shraddhaavan Labhate Gyanam)". It is Sraddha that
gives impetus to one`s spiritual practice(Sadhana) and earnestness is the
test of Shraddha.*

Sri Sai Amrit Vani - 21st June 2007

DEVOTEES MAY FORWARD THIS LETTER TO THEIR FRIENDS/RELATIVES.
21st June 2007
Jai Sai Ram
Strange are the ways of Baba. We are unable to understand His Leelas. This Thursday Honey started oozing from the photo on the wall. From Monday Udi started oozing from this photo and on Thursday Honey started at about 8:45, when Mrs Gupta was doing her pooja. This has happened after a long gap. Earlier honey oozed from the statues. I am unable to explain all the Leelas of Baba, so I have taken few photos of the Darbar of Baba here in Sidhartha Extension and appending them. Few devotees are unable to open the attachments, for them I am uploading the photos in the folder ‘Leelas of Baba on 20th June 2007’ in the photo section of yahoogroup ‘mysaibaba20’ . They can see or download them from them.

The list of devotees, who ask us to pray, is not compiled as they are very much in nos, however they are prayed for. Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 21st June 2007. The list is sorted as per their email ids. However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places. Kindly mention clearly, against each devotee’s name that he/she will recite or read or listen to Sri Sai Amrit Vani, or only for prayers. Please also give the name of the place.

This Thursday the 21st June we enjoyed the following Leelas.

1. Udi started appearing and oozing from the two photos on the wall from Monday itself, Hindi words ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’, and figure of Trishool were formed with Udi on one photo. On Wednesday Udi started oozing from the main photo in the mandir. ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’ along with other figures were also formed on the photo. From Statue also, Udi started oozing from Wednesday.
2. On Thursday Honey Started oozing from the photo of Baba on the wall when Mrs Gupta was doing her pooja. I was doing my shaving and was called. Immediately plates were searched to be placed below the photos. In all 5-6 spoonful of honey was collected and was distributed to all the devotees, after the pooja and Sri Sai Amrit Vani.
3. There was lot of Water from the Charans this week also. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. After distribution of Prasad, this water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water. Devotees bring bottles to take the water home.
4. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with Udi during the prayers. Udi was there between the falls of the Sari.
5. Udi also appeared on many other devotees and also in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani.
6. On Thursday as soon as Bhog was offered, it was duly accepted by Baba and after the Sri Sai Amrit Vani we noticed that the box, which was placed before HIM was partially eaten and partially remained pieces of items in the box. Part of Bhog was on the lips of many photos and statue of Baba. These parts of the remains in the box were given to the devotees who offered that item of bhog to Baba. Partly eaten remains were having some figures on them.
7. Presence of Baba during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Prayer and Prayan of Sri Satcharitra was very strong.
8. All the boxes of Bhog which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi,
9. The Charnamrit, the water in which Baba took the bath in the morning was also sweet as if some honey has been mixed into it.
10. Many documents and photos of devotees kept in the mandir room, were blessed with lots of Udi as soon as they were placed before Baba.
11. A photo of Baba was very big and there was no space for it inside the mandir room. The photo was taken inside the mandir and when it was even in the both hands of Mrs. Gupta, Udi appeared on the face of Baba. It all happened in a fraction of second. The photo was kept at the counter in the hall.

Jai Sai Ram

Sri Sai Amrit Vani started at 11:04 AM. Noon Aartee started at 12:00 Hrs. followed by brief Meditation and the prayer, Prayan of Chapter 42 from Sai Satcharitra. Mrs. Gupta offered prayers and thanks to Baba. Finally distribution of Prasad, Udi and the water from the Charans. Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

COMPLETE SURRENDER
Man is an organised being having sensation and voluntary motion typically
distinguished from animal which is organised and has life but apparently no
knowledge, intellect or reasoning power. This goes to prove that man is also
an animal but a social and an intellectual being having the power of
reasoning. This quality of sociability and intellectuality has segregated
him, and has made him hold his head high above all animal world. But the
seeds of Rise and Fall of man are sown and are latent in this so-called boon
of sociability and intellectuality as it always is double-edged like a blade
of a razor or a knife.

The sane man and the one whose line of thinking is right and judicious will
make the best use of these qualities to cross the boundaries of all senses,
the passions, the internal enemies-Passion or lust (Anuraag), Anger or wrath
(raag), jealousy or malice (matsar), Pride or vanity (ahankar), greed or
avarice (lobha), enticement or infatuation (moha), and to keep them within
bounds. But this does not mean that one should not possess these qualities.
One should have these qualities to make the best use of them to serve the
noble cause such as, speaking and establishing truth, protecting the weak
and fragile, to emancipate the suffering souls from their grief, to free the
poor souls from the clutches of the inhuman, vicious, malicious, mischievous
and sinful hands and at large in doing good to the human society of which he
is a part and parcel, as he can discriminate between good and bad, well and
ill and justice and injustice and can try to imbibe and inculcate the one
and avert and abrogate the other. His judicious power helps him to sublimate
his senses and illuminate thereby in him a sense of selflessness and
selfless service to the human society. Here his intellect works like a
knife, an inanimate object, in the hands of a doctor, that effects operation
on the living being and feels proud of itself for having saved the life of
an animate object. Here even this inanimate object has the sense of joy and
satisfaction of having done some useful and yeoman service to the humanity.

An insane, imprudent, an indiscriminate and viscious mind will always fall
an easy prey to these senses and adheres to the state of being actuated by
mere animal appetites, brutishness, ruthlessness, and sensuality and gives a
wrong twist and turn to the intellect and this forces the mind to fall into
spoils and to follow the path of his own genesis, the animals. His line of
thinking always drags him towards, ruin, distraction and damage to the life
and property of the poor and innocent souls.

"Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devoh Maheshwar;

Gurur Shakshat Parambramha

Tashmai Shri Gurur Veh Namah"

May the Merciful Sri Sai Baba always shower His grace on us and our families and remove

our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength , goodluck, success and

happiness with peace of mind.

Satsang RELAXED HOURS by Dr. Anil Jaiswal, M. B. B. S.

RELAXED HOURS
There was a man, who once went to the ocean for a bath; but instead of
taking the bath he sat there for hours together on the sandy beach. Others
enquired of him, “What is the matter ? You have come since early morning,
and still you are sitting without taking bath, gazing towards the ocean?
Now the sun has come on the zenith. When will you take bath, my friend ?”
The man replied, “Let the waves that are coming one after the other stop.
Then I shall take bath.”

Are these waves going to stop for this gentleman? It is his ignorance.

The same phenomenon is applicable to our life too.

This world is an ocean. The waves of sorrow, difficulties and worries are
going to come one after the other. There is no end to that. They will
continue to come during the whole of our life — from birth to death. No
favourable time is going to come. Favourable and unfavourable are mere
reflections of our mind. If we think unfavourably, everything is
unfavourable for us all the time and vice versa. The man could not take a
bath for want of a quiet ocean. We shall also miss the opportunity of
‘namasmaran’ for want of mental peace and internal tranquility.

Adopt the sadhana of ‘namasmaran’ to obtain mental peace —just from this
very moment Shri Sai will bless your life!

Satsang The Miracle of Sai Baba's Udi

Satsang The Miracle of Sai Baba's Udi

The Miracle of Sai Baba's Udi
By:- Mahesh Chandra Srivastava
Inscrutable are the ways of Providence To get the blessings of choicest
Heaven is the rare bliss.
Since October, 1973, I have the privilege of enjoying Baba's blessings in
various ways and find Him guiding my darkened path, everyday, specially when
I am in difficulty. Whenever my thoughts go to Him, irrespective of where I
am, I find His Photograph, before me, conveying His blessings.

A day earlier, than the fall of KOJAGIRI POORNIMA, It was Wednesday and I
was bound for Shirdi the very night. At 10 .30 A. M, a thought came to my
mind that while at Shirdi, I should buy a silver ring with 'Baba's Emblem'
over it. At about 1.30 PM, the same day, I called on a friend of mine, who
deals in Diamonds, with a mind to have lunch with him and also to inform him
of my intending visit to Shirdi, since I would not be able to see him for a
couple of days. After finishing the lunch, he got up and at his own accord,
came out with an offer of a Platinum ring with 'Baba's Emblem' over it. The
ring could be classed as one of the rarest mould of its kind. Even after
spending a fortune, I could not have made this precious ring. It has got a
beautiful emblem of Baba in 'Gold' on it, and is made of platinum, silver
and a couple of other hardening metals. The ring consists of five elements
which is supposed to be 'THE MOST SACRED'. Since Baba never wanted me to
wear a silver ring, that is why, He arranged, its presentation to fulfil my
thoughts.

My friend was just an instrument in its presentation, since this ring came
to him from someone Though this friend of mine used to meet me everyday
for the past one month or so, still the thought of presenting this sacred
ring came to his mind only that day, when Baba wanted my desire to be
cherished. My friend made this offer of his own accord. With the ring on my
finger, Baba brought me to His Lotus feet on 'KOJAGIRI POORNIMA' day which
luckily was Thursday, at His shrine at Shirdi.
But the miracle that I am going to narrate to my brother devotees, has its
own significance and characteristic meaning. It has brought a great change
in my life and has left a rich imprint on my mind, which no word can
express. lam overwhelmed with His benign blessings which He has been
gracious enough to shower upon this humble self.

On the morning of 23rd February, 1974, I reached the holy place, named
Shirdi with my few friends, all intending to stay together. Somehow, on
reaching Shirdi, I decided to stay separately, and I did. After finishing
the morning rituals, I went to my friend's place with a mind to go with them
to 'Maha Samadhi Mandir' for ABHISHEK. Since they were not ready, I told
them to meet me at Samadhi Mandir, where I would be awaiting them.
While buying garlands for Baba, a vibration came to my mind as if Baba was
instructing me in person, saying "Go to Dwarka Mai first, then to Chaudi and
then to Samadhi Mandir. I am still alive.

Satsang Shree Baba's Leela by K. L. Chandiramini

Satsang Shree Baba's Leela by K. L. Chandiramini

Shree Baba's Leela
I dare not claim myself to be a devotee of Shri Sai Baba because, for me
devotion is too difficult to define or attain. I know only this, that the
moment I think or look to Baba's picture my mind and heart is full of divine
thrill and peace. I never demand anything from Him. I feel improper to
demand anything from Him when I offer my prayers to Him. I believe in "HELP
YOURSELF IF YOU NEED HIS GRACE". Baba's blissful look itself is enough to
overcome all the anxieties and grief.

Baba's Mahima and strange ways of manifestations are beyond my
understanding. I shall narrate a few of many incidents, which had occurred
last year. They appear to me very strange because first Baba makes us to
undergo the sufferings and anxious moments and then helps us out of the most
difficult situation within a wink.

In March '77, my scooter was stolen in the night. After a frantic and
unsuccessful search at all possible places with the help of my friend Mr. Y.
K. Shrivastva, I lodged a complaint at the local Police Station.

While returning to my home I was very much worried how my family members
will face the loss. As anticipated they were worried; but I consoled them by
saying that let us leave everything to our great Baba to decide.

Before going to bed I looked to Baba and said, "So Sai! You wanted it this
way, o. k. have it and Good Night".

For three full days there was no trace of my scooter and slowly I was also
getting used to the loss. On the fourth day a CID Official came to my place
to inform me that my scooter is found in deserted place in perfectly good
condition. All were overjoyed.

I looked to Baba and asked, "Why did you want me to go
through this?"

In August '77 I was returning from a picnic on the same scooter. Suddenly a
truck dashed against me and I was thrown away by that truck off the road
along with the scooter. Passers by helped me out and I found the scooter to
be O. K. Under a daze of confusion and mental shock, I reached home without
bothering to check up if I had any injuries. After changing I lay on my bed
in semiconscious state. I was alone in the house at that time. Within a few
minutes my friend Mr. Inder Dev Tahiliani came with his wife. He uttered
something and leaving his wife to look after me, he left the place in great
hurry. His wife told me that I was injured very badly and was bleeding
heavily and so he has gone to get a doctor.

Doctor gave me one injection and suggested to get my wounds stitched up,
which I flatly refused. Instead I applied Baba's UDI profusely. Meanwhile my
wife also came home and all were very much disturbed; but I consoled
everybody by saying that our Baba is great and there is nothing to worry.
UDI did not leave the wound until it was completely healed up.

Next day after this accident, I asked my wife to get me my transistor radio.
She tried her best, but could not trace it anywhere. Then it suddenly dawned
on me that I had taken it with me to picnic and either someone had stolen it
or was thrown out when I met the accident.

Since the radio was a bit costly item, surprisingly all my family members
started blaming me for my negligence, forgetting all about my sufferings and
injury. I was wondering how selfish and materialistic this world is!

Anyway, after about a week my brother-in-law Mr. Deepak Mamtani suggested to
me to publish the matter in "lost Colum' of the local news paper. Seeing no
harm in it and without any hope I did the same Oh My Great Sai! The very
next day a police constable came to me asking me to come to the Police
Station and identify my radio, which someone had found by the side of the
road, where the accident occurred.

Well, I really wonder how all this is possible without our Baba's merciful
and kind blessings but then I also wonder why He wants us to suffer first
before He comes to help. Is it that He wants us to experience the grief or
is they all the rewards for our Karma?
Baba alone can explain this!

My best friend's first experience with Sai Baba...

My best friend's first experience with Sai Baba...

Jai Sai Ram,

I was just chatting on Yahoo messenger with my best friend from India...She told me

about the first experience she had with Baba for which she is shocked...I would like

to share that with you all...I am just so so happy I cannot tell you...I was laughing

at how smartly Baba plans everything....

My friend is not a Sai Baba's devotee but she knows Baba in general and is kind person

and occasionally a temple going person...She was having several problems with finding

a boy for her marriage and her mum is very upset that nothing is working out..Her

father had passed away when she was in School with me...She has another elder brother

who also wants to get married soon but things are getting delayed because my friend's

mariage is getting delayed...

I knew about these problems and tried to give her several solutions, to calm her mum

and other things that I thought would help...Nothing seemed to happen...One arangement

with a guy had also broken abruptly just after a couple of meetings...One day I

suggested her that only one thing can work now, i.e. "Divine Intervention"; I asked

her to pray to Baba to help her and also vow something to Baba like she would go to

Shirdi if everything gets sorted...Also asked her to go to the nearest popular temple

of Baba at Kandivali named Sai Dham which is a bit far from where she lives in

Andheri.....

Today, after many days had passed, she told me that she prayed but only went to one of

the local Sai Baba temples and prayed there...She was very busy for many days in the

process of the engagement ceremony of one of her cousins...But she said that she was

feeling very very guilty inside for not going to Sai Dham temple in Kandivali......But

the thing our Baba, our merciful God noted here that she took her 1 step towards him,

however small or big...Muahhhh, I love Baba - let me tell you what happened further...

She said that she was in this bus they had all booked to go somewhere in the process

of the engagement ceremony of her cousin...She had totally forgotten about her wish to

go to Sai Dham temple in Kandivali...Now, she finds that the bus passes from Kandivali

and stops right in front of the Sai Dham temple for some time for some

reason...................Oh my God!!!....Now I don't know whether she went inside and

prayed to her becuase i had to log off from the messenger urgently before she could

tell the rest, but I am assuming she did...

Now I don't care about what will happen of her marriage, becuase we all know now that

Baba has his caring eyes on her as well...Such signs prove that Baba is pulling the

devotee towards him.

So so wonderfully proven by Baba that "If you take 1 step towards me, I will take 10

steps towards you"....I am sure that Sai Dham temple is 10 times far away from the

local Sai Baba temple she had visited...I know myself that Kandivali is 5 railway

stations away from Andheri...

Life is beautiful with Baba....

Jai Sai Ram.

My best friend's first experience with Sai Baba...

My best friend's first experience with Sai Baba...

This is amazing. His Leelas are really amazing. Let me tell u my part of the story.

this was in 2005. i knew sai baba but never had any firm belief in him. it was winter

and the month of december was very pious cause it was kaartik maas. so i daily used to

go to shiv temple and offer my prayers there. after one month i suffered from the

infection in the ear due to the exposure to cold wind. i got very frustrated cause i

took all the trouble to worship the god and in return i got these sufferings. my wife

told me to go to sai baba temple and sit there for some time and that ur mind will be

calm. i didnt want to follow her advice but still somehow that evening i went and sat

there in the temple. initially i planned to return for few min but then i sat there

for atleast one hour. from then i began regularly praying sai baba and now i am a well

settled man with a nice and decent job. when i was in mumbai recently my wife wanted

to go to shirdi but i was not showing much intrest. but sai baba saw to it that i went

to shirdi and had his darshan. there were only four seats available that day and those

four seats were reserved only for us by sai baba. really his leelas are amazing.

Satsang THE MIRACLE OF SACRED ASHES FROM SHIRDI

Satsang THE MIRACLE OF SACRED ASHES FROM SHIRDI

THE MIRACLE OF SACRED ASHES FROM SHIRDI
By : Shri Anil Pandit B. Sc., Indore
I am a devotee of Shri Sai Baba for the last about 13 years. I always
worship him. During this period I have had many miraculous experiences, of
which some were published in Marathi issue of Shri Sai Leela in the past.
But, what we experienced in April, 1972 has left us wondering about the
miraculous powers of Shri Sai Baba and the sacred Ashes from Shirdi. I would
like to give an account of the experience for the information of Sai
Devotees.

The daughter of my elder son, by name Bhavana, whom we used to call
Sanjeevani, as a nick-name, fell sick all of a sudden in April, 1972. It was
summer season and our family doctor opined that it may be a case of mild
sun-stroke or the sickness may be due to very hot climate. The fever was
constant and she was not taking any food. Her belly was distended but
unfortunately our family doctor did not appreciate its seriousness. He
continued his treatment according to his primary diagnosis. The girl however
continued to be worse day by day. Her eyes were drawn in, and the
peritonitis was such that it was painful by touch. We at last decided to
transfer her to a bigger hospital in Indore. It was Sunday night when we
shifted the little girl to the hospital. The chief medico was having his
holiday. We put a pinch of ashes from Shirdi upon her forehead before taking
her to the hospital. Next day, the chief medico examined her and diagnosed
the case as of Typhoid with intestinal perforation. He said that peritonitis
was due to perforation of the intestinal wall. He said that the cases of
this type are so severe that generally operation is resorted to, but the
patient was too delicate for it. Glucose Saline and Infusion were advised.
We were all in a very anxious mood. The family people were very much afraid
for the life of the young one. The treatment from the hospital started.
Before this thing happened, I was continuously reading the Marathi Sai
Sat-Charitra daily. I had by that time, finished the 8th Canto and had come
to the 9th. I have faith in Shri Sai Baba. I appealed to Him : "O ! Baba,
What is this new calamity be fallen us ! It is only You who can take us out
of this !"

I had been to Shirdi earlier in the month of March and had brought some
photographs of Shri Sai Baba from the Sansthan office. The Ashirwad pose in
that picture is such that we feel Baba is looking at us and assuring us not
to worry and promising that everything will be all right. I felt that I
should take that photo to the hospital. I took it and also took some
quantity of Ashes with me. I put the photo under the pillow of the girl
Bhavana and besmirched her body with the Ashes. Emotions were so deep at
that time, that I could not help crying. In front of many family persons
present at that time, I uttered 'O ! Baba ! If this little girl Bhavana is
not cured in this sickness, I will not read your Charitra further." My
complete surrender to Him and appeal was really-similar to Shama and who
said that he would break a coconut on His Head if some lady could not get a
child !

In the meanwhile, I continued to read the book 'Sai Sat-Cha ritra.' Every
Thursday, the Aarti and worship was also continued. Bhavna, to the surprise
of the doctors, survived that ailment without operation. That was a feat on
the part of the patient - nay, it was the miraculous powers of Sai Baba and
the sacred Ashes. Gradually her fever came down and peritonitis subsided,
and within a period of 2-3 weeks, she was allowed to return home.

Really, I feel, the miracle of Faith on Sai Baba is extra-ordinary, but we
fail to take advantage of the great Grace available. The grace of Isa or
Sai-as you may call it. Sai Baba is no less than God the Protector Incarnate
!

Sri Sai Amrit Vani - 14th June 2007

Sri Sai Amrit Vani

DEVOTEES MAY FORWARD THIS LETTER TO THEIR FRIENDS/RELATIVES.
14th June 2007
Jai Sai Ram
If a person see a thing or happening we may call it imagination. illusion, belief or ‘Bhram’ but when the same phenomenon is witnessed by several people at the same time it can’t be other than the truth. This is what happened this Thursday. At the time of Madhyan Aartee when we were reciting the ‘Sai Digambra, Akshey Avtara Sarva vyapak too …’ after the Sri Sai Amrit Vani, many devotee, who were facing the mandir saw Baba in the white Kafni holding the Bhiksha Patra. Bhiksha patra was just above the box of bhog in the mandir. Devotees got so exited at that time and there was slight ‘halchat’ among them. We do aartee while sitting at the same place as when doing the Sai Amrit Vani otherwise it becomes so crowded in the small mandir with so much crowd. This Phenomenon was witnessed by several devotees, but several were such who could not witness it . Many devotees were even in the adjacent room and even the mandir was not visible to them. I also sit in the adjacent room and could not witness it, It is all His Leela. It was the hot topic after the Pooja, and as usual all the pieces of bhog in the box were partly eaten. Again the Udi when collected from the lap of Mrs. Gupta, formed the figure of ‘OM’. I wanted to have the snaps for the other devotees , but it was so crowded that I could not do any thing. Jai Sai Ram.

This Thursday also there was heavy rush of devotees and no space was left unoccupied in the main hall and the adjacent room. Some devotees even have to sit near the Shoes and Chappels.
The list of devotees, who ask us to pray, is not compiled as they are very much in nos, however they are prayed for. Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 14th June 2007.
This Thursday the 14th June we enjoyed the following Leelas.
1. Udi started appearing and oozing from the two photos on the wall from Monday itself, Hindi words ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’, and figure of Trishool were formed with Udi on one photo. On Tuesday Udi started oozing from the main photo in the mandir. ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’ along with other figures were also formed on the photo. From Statue, Udi started oozing from Wednesday.
2. There was lot of Water from the Charans this week also. It even started in the early hours of the morning. A thali was placed below the Charans in the night itself. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. After distribution of Prasad, this water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water. Devotees bring bottles to take the water home.
3. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with Udi during the prayers. Udi was there between the falls of the Sari. ‘OM’ was formed in the container in which the Udi was being collected.
4. Udi also appeared on many other devotees and also in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani.
6. Presence of Baba during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Prayer and Prayan of Sri Satcharitra was very strong. Many devotees felt HIS presence at the time of Aartee.
7. All the boxes of Bhog which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi,
8. The Charnamrit, the water in which Baba took the bath in the morning was also sweet as if some honey has been mixed into it.
9. Many documents and photos of devotees kept in the mandir room, were blessed with lots of Udi as soon as they were placed before Baba.
Jai Sai Ram
Sri Sai Amrit Vani started at 11:04 AM. Noon Aartee started at 12:00 Hrs. followed by brief Meditation and the prayer, Prayan of Chapter 41 from Sai Satcharitra. Mrs. Gupta offered prayers and thanks to Baba. Finally distribution of Prasad, Udi and the water from the Charans. Devotees narrated their experiences and the benefits they are have with Baba’s Blessings.

Satsang Shri Baba Repeats Leela from Shri Sai Satcharitra

Satsang Shri Baba Repeats Leela from Shri Sai Satcharitra

Shri Baba Repeats Leela from Shri Sai Satcharitra
Shri Baba is Omnipresent and is still repeating His Leelas as illustrated in
Shri Sai Satcharita so as to confirm the faith of His devotees in Him. His
recent Leela will prove this.

On Tuesday, the 9th March, 1982, the Holiday, in the early morning, I had
most beautiful dream in which Shri Baba's colourful picture appeared with a
dazzling aura around Him. Gradually, behind the picture the form of Shri
Dattatreya clearly appeared and around it also appeared an aura of light,
spreading in all directions.

After usual morning routine, I came to office for overtime work and at about
10.40 a. m. I left the office to attend to personal work at Dadar. Soon
after I returned to office, I learnt that a friend of mine Shri H. V.
Talreja had come to see me during my absence and left for me a calendar
consisting of six colour photos of Shri Baba with His right hand in the
posture of blessing. The sudden arrival of calendar of Shri Baba confirmed
His early vision to me in the morning. After office hours, as I came
home I was in for a more pleasant surprise as I received a letter
from Dr. Gajananrao.

Dr. Dabholkar, son of late Shri Dabholkar, alias Hemadpant, who wrote
that masterpiece on Shri Baba Shri Sai Satcharita in Marathi.
Dr. Dabholkar had replied to my earlier letter wherein I had requested
him to send a little udi which Shri Baba had personally given to
him. Dr. Dabholkar had sent the most precious udi with
instructions not to distribute it to anyone else. The receipt of
udi on Holiday, also confirmed His arrival at my place as indicated in the
dream. So the entire sequence of events as stated in chapter
forty of Shri Sai Satcharita, where Shri Hemadpant has stated in detail
Shri Baba's appearance in His dream in the morning to say that He
would come for lunch on Holiday and the sudden arrival of picture
of Shri Baba before Hemadpant was just starting to take food, was
repeated.

Thus Shri Baba's assurance to His devotees in chapter twenty five that,
'Believe Me though I pass away my bones in My tomb will give you hope and
confidence. Not only Myself, but My tomb would be speaking, moving and
communicating with those who would surrender themselves wholeheartedly to
Me. Do not be anxious that I would be absent from you. You will hear My
bones speaking and discussing your welfare. But remember Me always, believe
in Me heart and Soul and then you will be most benefited." came true.

Readers, who can now say, that Shri Baba is still 'not with us and that He
is not guiding us in the light of the above Leela?

Satsang Kusha Bhav and Babas Udi

Satsang Kusha Bhav and Babas Udi

Kusha Bhav and Babas Udi
'Kusha Bhav' (alias) KRISHNAJI KASINATH JOSHI son of Kashinath Padmakar
Joshi, Joshi Vattandr, Brahmin, aged 70, (10 miles off Ahmednagar)
Mirazgaon, says:
I was given a mere elementary Vernacular School Examination education to
qualify myself for a School Master's place on Rs. 5 or 7 per mensem. I got
trained also for the hereditary duties of the village priest. I did not care
for either. We were poor. In these circumstances, I wanted to devote myself
to a life of bhakti. I found a Guru in Datta Maharaj, a truly great and
Satvic soul. He took me away from time to time and trained me in yoga. Under
him I learnt Asanas, Pronoyoma and the rousing of the Kundalini SaktL But,
in my youthful waywardness, I was not contented with all that and asked my
Guru to impart to me the mantras he knew which gave worldly powers creating
spells and breaking spells, exercising devils and invoking them &c. The Guru
very unwillingly imparted the mantras to me, on account of my Importunity
and I went through the necessary Japa and sodhona I wore an iron bangle,
repeated the mantras asprescribed for the required number of times, I
succeeded in getting possession of the coveted powers. I could simply utter
a mantra and order the production of sweetmeats, pedhos and and the like.
And the articles I ordered would at once appear and be filling my hands.
These I would show to others and distribute. The pedha etc., I could not
use. I could not and should not eat or sell them but I gave them away to the
admiring or wondering people about me. I could also destroy the evil spells
of others. The production of pedha etc. was not by the use of evil spirits
(e.g.) Yakshas, Jinns etc... This latter method is dangerous. It will
extinguish one’s life. The spirits might even begin to cause physical harm
to the man, who uses them. In my case, the articles required were produced
purely rnantric power without the use of these evil spirits.
When I was aged about twentytwo and fully armed with these magical powers,
my Guru resolved to go away from our society into the Himalayas and live
there alone right up the end of his life. He started north and took me with
him upto Delhi. There he wished to part company with me finally. As to what
I should do, after he went away, he told me that there was one Sai Baba of
Shirdi, whom he referred to as his elder brother that I should go to Him
and do whatever ne directs. Saying this, the Guru went away and disappeared
from me and this part of the country: and I have not seen or heard anything
more of him since.
Then (i.e.) in 1908, I went to Shirdi and found Sai Baba. He would not
allow me to be with him till I should throw away my iron bangle and stop
the production of pedhas etc., by mantric means. As His order was strict;
I broke and threw away my iron wristlets and stopped my mantric production
of articles like pedha etc. To sustain myself I begged food here and there
at Shirdi. I had no abode. He ordered me to sit in a corner of the mosque
and go on reading Dasbodha during the day, and I did so. At night, I would
sleep in any place I could find space to lie on. He gave neither me nor
anyone else any upadesh mantra etc.

Satsang Who that Beggar was? by A. P. Tripathi

Satsang Who that Beggar was? by A. P. Tripathi

But the father of the boy had many other attractive proposals to choose
from. There were some staggering offers. My offer compared most unfavorably
with them. Persons told me that it was a very good and prosperous family and
I will have to spend at least forty thousand to win over this groom. But my
BABA was helping me in His own way. A very pious Sai devotee, mother of the
'groom's fast friend Shri Ramesh Shukla (Advocate) joined hands with another
Sai devotee Principal B.H. Pandey and came to my rescue. Here I may mention
that then the Mishra family was not believer of SAI BABA as was the case
with Krishnamoorty's prospective inlaw's. This is how BABA tilted the scales
in favor of my daughter and me.

One night Shri Shrikant Mishra, Advocate was sleeping. He saw in his dream a
big photo of BABA hanging on the wall. Baba unmistakably and emphatically
told him that if he married the girl from BETUL, only then his life would be
happy and prosperous. The happy outcome was that though I had a paltry sum
to offer, be changed his mind, accepted our offer and approved of my
daughter and thus the marriage was settled. I could not give the customary
rich gifts to ray Samdhee Shri Kamalakar Mishra and nothing except a golden
ring and a wrist watch to the groom. Still they were all very pleased and
well-satisfied. At the time of 'DwarChar’ I had put Shri Sai Baba's and Shri
Sathya Sai Baba's photos sanctified with garland and agarbathi in the
'Mandap’ and they presided over the nuptial ceremony. Neither my ‘Samdhee'
Shri Kamalakar Mishra demanded anything in the form of 'dowry' nor my
son-in-law Shri Shrikant Misra pressed for any gift. I could not help
sheding big tears of joy and gratitude for I could not give them anything
worthwhile, befitting their status as Ex-Zamindar. But Shri Kamalakar
Mishra, now a 'devata’ to me wrote from Mandla that all the 'baraatees'
during the return journey expressed their satisfaction again and again and
commended my hospitable treatment. At Mandla, the ladies were also very
happy and satisfied. When I received that letter, I wept in joy and
gratitude before BABA, because really speaking, I had done but little, spent
ever so little, instead of incurring forty thousand rupees as predicted by
my well-wisher S.D.M. Shri K. S. Chauhan Saheb and his wife, I had spent in
all only Twenty five thousand rupees and still received such appreciation
from my 'devopam' Samdhee Shri Kamalakar Mishra. Indeed our BABA motivated
all this.

My daughter Indu Tripathi has now become Smt. Indu Mishra. When my
son-in-law Shrikant Mishra came to BETUL a second time to fetch her with him
to Mandla, he himself asked for BABA's Udi (Vibhooti) in a good quantity for
his daily use. By the grace of Shri BABA my daughter is happy in her new
environment and is also thankful to BABA and to us for giving her such an
angelic ‘Shwasur' like Shri Kamalakar Mishra. Whenever I remember Shri
Kamalakarji tears wail up in my eyes in gratitude. So merciful is our Lord
Shri SAI BABA. Immediately after marriage I rushed to Shirdi to offer my
heart-felt gratitude and thanks to Lord Sai Baba on 19th May, 1981. The date
of marriage was 13th May, '81.

It is noteworthy that soon after my daughter's Vidai (farewell) on 14-5-81 a
poor man is tattered and dirty clothes came direct to me while I was weeping
in sweet memory of my daughter and tears were rolling down incessantly and
He asked for only one 'ROTT (bread) to eat. I provided him with a sumptuous
meal. He took it and went away. Suddenly it struck us who he could be. But
where he came from and where he went away, none could find out. All attempts
to trace him out were in vain. WHO that beggar was? My Sai-brother Shri T,
A. Ramanathan will vouch that the mendicant was none else but my God-father
the Lord of Lords Shri Sainath and how can anyone refute it ?

Satsang Kusha Bhav and Babas Udi

Satsang Kusha Bhav and Babas Udi

The town people from Bombay etc. were not coming to Him then. Only the
villagers would go to Him now and then, and ask Him to remedy their trifling
complaints (e.g.) stomach- ache, fever etc. He gave His Udhi to all these
from his ever-buring fire (dhuni) which he maintained at the mosque. He
was not asking for dakshina from all but only a few pice (e.g) 4 or 5 He
would ask for and getting these, He might buy fuel for His dhuni or some
such article of necessity. As for big people, I remember that Nanasahib
Nimonkar was often with Him; and as for His talks, I never heard Him say
anything about Maya or Brahma or Mahavakya tatwas or Viveka, and
Sadhana Chathustftya, He imparted faith to those resorting to Him faith in
Ishwara, by exercising His wonderful powers:
they would go on with their devotion to their Ishtadevata and finally, He
would grant them Sakshatkara of that particular ishtadevata.
As for myself, I stayed three full years at a stretch with Him and then
went on visiting Him during the nine years that followed. During that period
of nine years, He told me to see a person with three heads. That of course,
I took as a direction to go and see Datta at Gangapur. Every year I visited
Gangapur twice once in Guru Poomima and next in Magha poornima. Then, once
He told me to do 108 parayanas of Guru Charitra, taking three days to finish
each parayana. I did this at Gangapur and stayed there 10 or 11 months for
this purpose. As for my powers, He had interdicted their use. But, out of
His kindness, He gave me some other power. It came about thus. One
Ekadashi day. I sat by His side. Baba: What do you eat today?
I : Nothing, to-day is Ekadashi
Baba: What does Ekadashi mean?
I : It means a day for upavas
Baba : What does upavas means?
I: It is just like rojas
Baba: What is rojas?
I. We take nothing except Kandamulaa
means root and usually 'sweet potatoes' and is the food that is eaten
(onions should not be taken by the orthodox) on Ekadashi day. Then Baba
picked up some onions, evidently having a phonetic equivocation, and told me
to eat it. Seeing Baba was persistent and not wishing to run counter to His
wishes, I yielded, but added 'If you eat It, I will eat it’. Then Baba ate
some onions and I ate some. Then as visitors began to arrive, Baba was
enjoying some fun at my expense.
Baba : Look at this Bramniya (a contemptuous corruption of the word
Brahmin), he is eating onions on Ekadashi day. I began to defend my
conduct or justify it. I : Baba ate it and I ate it. Baba, at one stroke,
was having humour at my expense and the manifestation of His powers and He
declared that He had not eaten onions. At once, He vomitted out
something. That was not onion but sweet potatoes (Ratale). Baba : See,
it is not onion but sweet potato I had
eaten.

Satsang Efficacy of Sai Grace

Satsang Efficacy of Sai Grace

Efficacy of Sai Grace
Scriptures say that of all the debts the most irredeemable is the debt we
owe to parents. My father, Shri K. Sathyanarayana Murthy, born in 1911 or
so, spent his young days in abject penury without even two square meals a
day. Last of the children, he were the only one to have a pretence to
education. So much were his indigent circumstances that he had to study many
times under street lamps of flickering tapers of those days. His efforts,
though full of enthusiasm, ended with IX Class because of poverty. Later
when he was married, his in-laws helped him to complete his Matriculation
and provide him with a job in the ex-Nizams Railways.

He was a very ordinary man with common weaknesses .in facing the problems of
life. One divine quality he faced was his utter devotion for his children's
welfare- 6 sons and 2 daughters. Before them he was a man of complete
self-denial rarely found in others. The legacy of his defeated efforts at
education in his young days perhaps spurred him to provide his children with
the highest of education despite his ridiculously low salary. In doing so,
he stretched his efforts beyond human limitations to the extreme point of
snapping. He chose to work in leave vacancies of Station Masters, hopping
from station to station, just to earn some money to supplement the growing
family needs. In the process, he literally went hungry everyday for lack of
cooking bane's at way-side stations. His family could not accompany him for
short durations at each place and these small places had no hotels in those
days. His health therefore failed miserably and at the young age of 30 he
acquired diabetes even though he had no such lineage among his forefathers.

I am giving this detailed background with a view to enable the readers to
appreciate how the grace of Shri Sai Baba works differently with different
devotees. My father had no pretence to any regular form of worship nor did
he have any big idea about the spiritual side of life. Nevertheless he had
the normal devotional bent of mind towards all Hindu Gods. Somehow he came
to know about the greatness of Shri Sai Baba in his pearly career and
anchored all his hopes on Him. He started making trips to
Shirdi along, with his family members whenever he could afford it.
Thus a good number of times we all visited Shirdi not knowing the
full impact of Shri Sai Baba's greatness.

However, all his efforts in life came as an anti-climax in a series of
failures. His mild manners were taken advantage and exploited by
many. He had to face crisis after crisis ill running the family
because of long hospital! Sat ion of family members, thefts of
valuables, education of children at distances etc. The
relentless Lord Sai was severe on him giving him no scope
to see any silver lining on the horizon. He faced rebuffs in his
service too. Once, the Pointsman in a drunken state took away keys
without my father's knowledge and gave signals to receive
two opposite goods trail simultaneously one night. My
father noticed it at the last moment and he immediately
lifted back one of the signals and frantically ran and stopped the
train beyond the home signal. Still he was technically held
responsible and had to face punishment and humiliation. The
purple patch of luck was like an elusive pimpernel in his life. Shri
Sai, the beacon light for all others, was a mere spectator before my
father's macabre drama of life. Any other man in his boots would have
cringed back and committed suicide. But not nay father. He
was a man, dedicated for a purpose. He took all calamities in his stride.
