1. FOUNDATION STONES FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE: From the Satsanghs of Saibanisa ji

Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi, Saidarbar – Hyderabad.199. We should not underestimate the enemy. He may look weak and small, but he will become a big headache to you like a tiny dust particle fallen in the eye.

200. The sheep without a proper shepherd, and people without a righteous leader are one and the same.

201. Everybody should do the charities, but at the same time they should not be like King Bali who lost his kingdom due to over enthusiasm in doing charities.

202. Once you are entangled in the vices, it is difficult to come out in the way as when you are suffering with itching which needs your continuous attention.

203. We should not befriend or enter into enmity with bad people as it is like touching the cold charcoal will give you a black spot or the hot charcoal which burn the fingers.

204. If you can not avoid the company of bad people, try to be with them the way the bird cuckoo mixes with crows but does not change its original voice.

205. By mistake, if you are the cause for someone’s physical injury, it can be healed with medicines but if you hurt somebody’s feelings which can not be cured life long with any medicine. So take proper care in dealing with others.

206. The one who obstruct you from performing bad acts, who encourages you to do good acts, seeing good in others and who stands by your side in troubles, is a real friend.

207. A friend in need is a friend in deed is correct. But at the same time you should not reveal some of your secrets to him as he may be tempted to reveal the same secrets to others.

208. You should be more careful with the sweet words of the bad persons as they keep poison in their mind and at their convenient time, they spit out the poison on you.

209. Criticizing a good person is nothing but spitting towards sky which will fall back on your face only.

2. SAI'S NEWS FROM THE TIME MACHINE:
March 1917- (Holi). Baba appeared to Hemadripanth in dream and said that he would come for meals that day and finally he arrived in the form of a picture.

March 1988- Swami Ram Baba a noted devotee associated with Baba left his mortal coil at Bombay.

3. SAI IN DREAMS: These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSa Ji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.
24-04-1994

Before retiring to bed, I offered salutations to Baba and said “Tomorrow will be my birthday, please give me a message”.

Sai shown me the following visuals-

I saw a dead person and all his relatives were busy preparing for the last journey. The whole situation was looking like a birthday celebration. From the crowd a person resembling Sai was addressing at me- “The real point of birth starts off from the moment you are dead, as this body enters into the womb of another woman. So this in fact is the real Birthday for anyone. The rest are all man made for the sake of celebrations.

Birth and death are the two fixed entities of life.

26-04-1994

Sai appeared in the dream drawing my attention towards a group of people-

Look to them, how they are engaged in wasting food with utter disregard and indulging in fun making. It is sheer pity that they do not realize ‘Annam as parabrahmah swaroopam’ (source of energy and supreme). Food is very essential for survival.

Food is the fruit of hard labor that every able person should earn for and enjoy it by him rather than to accept as charity.

Food is one of the basic driving forces.

28-04-1994

The essence of the visuals shown by SAI is –

It is unpardonable to forget the giver when all the long wish list is fulfilled. Give a thought as to what is now expected from you.

Always think of the supreme power behind the universe.

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)"Shashi":
22. Atma – Jnana

It is a universal fact that every person’s physical body invariably undergoes changes. Every person, who is living in the world, is born as an infant. By the process of Growth, the infant grows into an adult. The duration of each stage of life is fixed. For example duration of infancy is 12 months; the duration of childhood is 12 years. Similarly specific duration is also present for adult and old age. During adulthood, every person possesses as the ability to reproduce. During the old age, every person’s physical body begins to dwindle or decay. Finally, due to death the physical body totally vanishes.
Atma is devoid of all these modifications. Atma is not physical body. The real nature of every person is ‘Atma’ (self). Hence every person is none else than ‘Atma Swaroopa’. It is consciousness which enables us to identify human beings and objects. So consciousness is the character of Atman. This Atman alone as the ability to identify all, yet remains changeless.

Sri SaiBaba said: “The Atman, constituting the root of everything in the internal or the external world, is also the very content of all experiences.” That means – the Atman is the sole real entity enveloping all forms, as well as formless. Such a realization overturns one’s ordinary distorted perception of Reality. Here we may recall Baba’s identification with dogs and all living beings giving proof of His physical oneness with these living beings. Because every thing springs from the Self, is dissolved in it, and remains imbibed with ‘IT continuous ‘it’ cannot be perceived apart from the self. Therefore everything is the Self.

Sri Sai once said, - “Since atman pervades everything and is the only reality and it is with in you only and try to listen within the follow the direction you get. You must look as you and that it guide you. The Atman which is within you constitute your own nature, Self – Effulgent. The Atman is your true Guru and that is the voice of your conscience.”

Atman is the ‘Self’ of every individual and this dwells inside every person. It is the individual’s physical organs which perform various actions and it is the sense organs of the individual which are enjoying the fruits of the actions. Atman is none else than Supreme God. Whenever our mind gives birth to various types of thought-waves, Atman remains merely as a ‘Sakshi (witness). Let us assume that ‘Sakshi state of Brahman’s wave less portion of an ocean called ‘Consciousness’. Pure consciousness is the absolute state of supreme God’.

Sai through Reincarnations
By: Sai Sevak Raghuraman Satulury

From the Epics:

A certain reindeer (mother-in-law of one male deer) to wreak it’s
Vengeance was reborn as a human being and is quoted from an
incident that took place in Ramayana.

The king of Kaikeyi kingdom killed a male deer while hunting. An
elder female deer requested the king to give the wounded deer so
that she could treat and save the wounded one from dying. The king
Was adamant and refused to hand over the wounded to their kith and
kin. Instead, he prepared a dish out of it and ate it. The female
deer cursed the king with the words that she would one day become
the source of agony to the king, he would then die a similar death
weeping for his son-in-law. After death the deer was reborn as
Mandhara, the central character of the Epic Ramayana and becomes
the cause for the death of King Dasaradha, the son-in-law of the
king to the Kaikeyi kingdom.

As you are all aware, one of the princesses among Amba, Ambika, and
Ambalika was born as Shikandi to take revenge on Bhishma in

Hindu shrine site steeped in history

http://www.c-n.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060223/NEWS/602230302

In July, Sai Mandir's USA Newsletter announced the "Nori Foundation has ... purchased six acres of lot in the town of Millstone in Somerset County, New Jersey to establish a ... Sai Mandir. This will be a central location for all our devotees coming from Washington, Delaware, Philadelphia and New Jersey."

The shrine, designed by architect Vilas Parab, will be located at the rear of the property, 345 feet from the road, with the existing Cape Cod home at the front of the property used as housing for the priests.

The main building, designed to hold a maximum of 250 people, is proposed to be 123 feet long with a gazebo-style conservatory at one end. The stucco-style exterior is a light pinky-peach color, and the exterior walls of the walk-in basement wall will be covered with dark gray granite. The building is designed to have seven spires, each one over interior shrines, with the top of the main spire 55 feet above the ground.

The main floor, as proposed, includes a main shrine and several smaller shrines, a large worship area, a coatroom and shoe room. The basement includes a kitchen, a dining room that could also be used as a lecture hall and a small gift shop that would sell religious items and books.

Florida Hindus Plan New Temple

www.news-journalonline.com

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, March 11, 2006: Suryakant "Sam" Patel is president of the Hindu Cultural Association of Daytona Beach, which has bought a vacant lot on east Madison Avenue to build the city's first Hindu temple. While the association has yet to hire an architect, members said they would like to build a distinctive building with a domed roof and statues of Hindu Gods. Currently, Hindus organize a monthly worship service at the Schnebly Recreation Center on North Atlantic Avenue. The group does not have a Hindu priest, but Patel said he and others take turns in leading worship services. Some also travel to a Hindu temple in Casselberry, which was completed in 2003. Hindus want a local place of worship because they like to visit a temple daily for prayer, said Kirit Patel, a fellow member of the Hindu Association. "A lot of people like to pray early in the morning, (especially senior citizens)," said Kirit Patel, who is the associate vice president for fiscal affairs and chief accountant for Bethune-Cookman College. Local Hindus represent a "very diverse group," said Kirit Patel. The association includes educators, business owners and physicians. Like Sam Patel, about 30 percent to 40 percent of the membership is involved in the hotel industry. Because the organization has grown to include more than 300 families, members also feel like they need their own place, Sam Patel said. The association purchased a 52,000-square-foot lot on East Madison Avenue in December, according to Volusia County property appraiser records. Hindus are still raising money for the building. They would like to raise at least US$500,000, Sam Patel said.

6. SAIBANISA OFFERS PRANAMS TO “LORD SIVA”
From Sai Satcharita -chapter 28

Megha began to look upon Sai Baba as an incarnation of Shiva In order to worship Shiva, bela leaves are required and Megha used to go miles and miles every day to bring them and worship his Shiva (Baba).

Megha returned to the Wada, and drew a red Trident on the wall near Baba's picture. Next day a Ramadasi Bhakta came from Poona, saluted Baba and offered Him Pindi (an image of Shiva). At this time Megha also turned up there. Baba said to him - "See, Shankar has come, protect (i.e., worship) Him now." Megha was surprised to see Pindi following Trident immediately.

3. SRI MAHAKALESHWAR in Ujjain

On the banks of river Kshipra, the city of Ujjain exists in Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as Indrapuri Amaravati, and Avantika. Because of the number of golden towers of several temples, this town is also known as “Swarna Sringa.”

One of the seven cities of deliverance or salvation, Avantika Nagar has 7 Sagar Teerthas, 28 teerthas, 84 SiddhaLingas, 25-30 SivaLingas, Ashtabhairav, Ekadasa Rudrasthana, temples for hundreds of deities, Jalakund and monuments are there.
sthala puran

The grandeur of Mahakaleswar is indescribable. Chandrasena, the king of Ujjain was not only a scholar, but also a staunch devotee of Lord Siva. Once his friend Maheswari’s follower Manibahdra gave him a beautiful gemstone called Sundara Chintamani. It shone so bright and beautiful when Chandrasen wore it on his neck, that he looked even more glorious than the celestial gods. It would make even them feel jealous. Once, some kings went and asked Chandrasen to part with the jewel and Chandrasen promptly refused to do so. This angered the kings, who in turn attacked Chandrasena’s kingdom. When Chandrasena realized that he was surrounded by the enemy he sought the help of Mahakal. Bhagawan Shiva was pleased with his prayers and showed him a solution for his problem. Just then, by chance, a Brahman woman wandered near Mahakal, carrying her child with her, and suddenly became a widow. An illiterate boy once saw the king performing Puja in the stone and installed it in his empty house. He imagined it to be an incarnation of Shiva and started worshipping it. The boy became so engrossed in prayer and chanting, that he even forgot all about food. When his mother went to call him, any number of calls had no affect on him. He was silently praying. Angered by this, the mother who was still bound by worldly love threw away the Siva Lnga. She destroyed all the thing of worship. The boy was very sad at what his mother had done. He started to pray to Shiva with his entire concentration. Siva was not long in coming to the rescue of his devotee. This stone Siva Linga which was brought by the son of a cowherd soon became adorned with gemstones and turned into a JyotirLinga. After singing in praise of Lord Siva, when the boy returned to his house, he was amazed to find a beautiful palatial home instead. Thus, with the Grace and Blessings of Lord Siva, the boy became rich and led a very happy life.

In the mean time, the enemy kings who attacked eased Chandrasena’s empire, began to fight among themselves. They began to say king Chandrasena is a Siva devotee and Ujain itself is the city of Mahakal. It is therefore, impossible to anyone to win it. They then decided to extend a hand of friendship to king Chandrasena and together they all worshipped Mahakal.

At that time, the Vanara King Hanuman appeared there. He told the kings that only Siva could grant salvation to mankind and nobody else. Siva can be pleased with worship done even without chanting any mantras. The example of the son of cowherd is for us. Then Hanuman looked at Chandrasena with eyes filled with affection and benevolence and disappeared.
Historic glory of Ujjain

Shiva is auspicious and beautiful. Avanti Nagar is Shiva’s favorite town. Those who visit the Mahakal temple and take a darshan will never be touched by sorrows even in their dreams. Those who pray for whatever they desire to the Mahakal JyotirLinga would be granted all his/her wishes. They would attain salvation.

7. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:
http://us.f373.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=yaa063@londonmet.ac.uk
2/26/2006 05:20:06 -0700

There are not one but too many Sai miracles in my life. To mention a few. The first time I started believing in Sai, I prayed to Him that if he is really my Lord, He should take me to Shirdi once, but there was no chance of going to Shirdi as there was no one to take me. To my surprise, within a weeks time I was in Shirdi. Then I started believing in Him and also that miracles happen in life. My father who doesn't send me even to my relative’s house alone has consented to send me to Shirdi with not that close friend. She is my best friend now, just because she is also a Sai devotee and it is because of her that I believed in Sai. Since then there were endless miracles happening in my life every now and then. I tasted all my successes on Thursday...Baba's day.
The first of them was Biotechnology exam in first year of my graduation. I wrote it so bad and I thought would definitely fail. I cried on the day I wrote the exam, I ripped off the book in which I write my poems and felt that my life is worthless because I spent so much money on my course. I was sure that I would fail. Not only me, but also most of my friends had the same experience in that exam. Some gave blank paper and walked out. Some complained that it was not the questions were not from their syllabus, but I kept on praying God till the day I received the results. When our lecturer was reading out the numbers, we were literally panicking because so many of them failed. But our numbers were announced at last and the interesting thing was that it happened on a Thursday, and to symbolize his presence, Baba sent a rain for 5 minutes on that hot and dry day (first week of June). Is this not a miracle?

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA
Tue, 28 Feb 2006 23:27:50 -0800 (PST)

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the spirtual gems.
"In this way Baba went on giving instructions whenever necessary. If these are borne in our minds and acted upon, the spiritual goal (realization) is not far off. There is a proverb which says - "If there be my Hari (Lord), He will feed me on my cot." This proverb is only true in respect of food and clothing, but if anyone trusting in this sits quiet and does nothing in spiritual matters, he will be ruined."

Sai Ram. Strictly speaking, if a person can really sit still and do nothing, he is already enlightened. What Shri Hemadpant is alluding here is laziness. Laziness is a big evil and masquerades as surrender in the minds and speeches of pseudo-philosophers. Stilling of mind is not same as sleep. Physical inactivity is not meditation. And finally, an idle mind is a devil's workshop!

One has to exert himself to his utmost for attaining self-realization. The more he endeavours, the better for him. Sai Ram. Only after exerting, one can learn to be really still. Only after acquring possessions one can learn detachment to them.

Baba said that He was omnipresent, occupying land, air, country, world, light and heaven, and that He was not limited. To remove the misunderstanding of those, who thought that Baba was only His body - three cubits and a half in length, He incarnated Himself in this form and if any devotee meditated on Him day and night with complete self-surrender, he experienced complete union (without any difference) with Him like sweetness and sugar, waves and sea, eye and its luster. He, who wants to get rid of the cycle of births and deaths, should lead a righteous life, with his mind calm and composed. He should always engage himself in good actions, should do his duties and surrender himself, heart and soul to Him. He need not then be afraid of anything. He, who trusts Him entirely, hears and expounds His Leelas and does not think of anything else, is sure to attain Self-realization. Baba asked many to remember His name and to surrender to Him, but to those, who wanted to know who they were ('Who am I' enquiry), He advised Shravanam (study) and Mananam (meditation). To some, He advised remembering God's name, to others hearing His Leelas; to some worship of His Feet, to others reading and studying Adhyatma Ramayan, Jnaneshwari and other sacred scriptures. Some He made sit near His Feet, some He sent to Khandoba's temple, and some He advised the repetition of the thousands names of Vishnu and some the study of Chhandogya Upanishad and Geeta. There was no limit, nor restriction to His instructions. To some, He gave them in person. To others by visions in dreams. To one addicted to drink, He appeared in his dream, sat on his chest, pressed it and left him, after he gave a promise not to touch liquor anymore. To some, He explained some Mantras like `Gurur Brahma' in dreams. To some devotee, who was practicing Hath-Yoga, He sent word that he should leave off Hath-Yoga practices, sit quiet and wait (Saburi). It is impossible to describe all His ways and methods.

Sai Ram. The above is pure gold, pure nectar. It is to be read and reread several times. It gives us an idea that Sai is not a body, a saint etc. but is ParaBrahma.

We will conclude the chapter in the next issue. Sai Ram.

9. SAI WITH CHILDREN:
Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. For the last 2 years I have told you about Lord Krishna's Leelas and Lord Rama Story. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my child hood.
:
The Peacock and the Tortoise

Once upon a time a peacock and a tortoise became great friends. The peacock lived on a tree on the banks of the stream in which the tortoise had his home; and daily the peacock after he had a drink of water danced near the stream and displayed his gay plumage for the amusement of his friend.

One unfortunate day, a bird-catcher who was on the prowl caught the peacock and was about taking him away to the market. The unhappy bird begged of his captor to allow him to bid his friend the tortoise good-bye, as it would be the last time he would see him.

The bird-catcher allowed him his prayer and took him to the tortoise, who was greatly moved to see his friend a captive. The tortoise asked the bird-catcher to let the peacock go; but he laughed at the request, saying that was his means of livelihood.

The tortoise then said, "If I make you a handsome present, will you let my friend go?" "Certainly," answered the bird-catcher that is all I want." Whereupon the tortoise dived into the water and in a few seconds came up with a handsome pearl, which, to the great astonishment of the bird-catcher, he handed to him. This was beyond his expectations, and he let the peacock go immediately.

A short time after, the avaricious man came back and told the tortoise that he thought he had not paid enough for the release of his friend, and threatened that, unless a match to that pearl was obtained for him, he would again catch the peacock. The tortoise, who had already advised his friend to betake himself to a distant jungle on being set free, was greatly enraged at the greed of this man.

"Well," said the tortoise, "if you insist on having another pearl like it, give it to me and I will fish you out an exact match for it." The stupidity of the bird-catcher prevented his reasoning that "one in the hand was equal to two in the bed of the stream," and he speedily gave the pearl to the wily tortoise, who swam out with it saying, "I am no fool to take one and give two!" and forthwith disappeared, leaving the bird-catcher to be sorry ever after for his covetousness.

10. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES:
Sai Eshwari 2/17/2006 21:19:49 -0800

Immortal Saint of Shirdi
Baba's 72 hours Samadhi where He decided to take His Prana high up and go into Samadhi and then returned back to consciousness (life) after three days is an evidence that Sai was not limited to the body of three and a half cubits height, but was the Self inside. The body, composed of the five elements is perishable and transient, but the Self within is the thing - Absolute Reality that is immortal and eternal. Baba said, "I am not confined within this body of three and a half cubits height, I am every where". Sai Baba expounded several times, Who this Me or I is. In His words "Barring your name and form, there exists in you as well as in all beings a sense of Being or consciousness of Existence. That is Myself" (Sri Sai Satcharitha, Chap. 43-44). Baba assured before His Mahasamadhi, "Though I pass away, My bones in My tomb will give you Hope and Confidence. Not only Myself but also My tomb would be speaking, moving and communicating with those who would surrender wholeheartedly to me. You will hear My bones speaking and discussing your welfare." (Sai Satcharitra, Chap. 25) Sai is defined "This Pure Being, Consciousness or Brahma, the Ruler and Controller of the senses and mind is the thing Sai... He pervades all animate and inanimate things and is their Inner Controller and Ruler."

(SSS Chap. 43-44). This shows Sai is immortal, birth less and deathless. Let us realize why Sainath Maharaj declared "I shall be ever active and vigorous even after leaving this earthly body." Though Baba has no body now, He is more Alive now than when He was living. This is being experienced by many who surrender themselves completely to Him and worship Him with wholehearted devotion. Saints like Baba never die; though they look like men, they are in reality God Himself.
! Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai !
