Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit

Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit
27th Dec 2007
Jai Sai Ram

Sorry, I am late this Thursday in posting the letter, as I was bussy otherwise and was not home. On Thursday night Mrs Gupta cleaned all the photos and the statue of Baba and from Friday, again, Udi has started oozing from the photos and Statues and also forming the words and characters. May be due to the year ending blessings.

Today a strange Leela of Baba happened. During the Madhyan Aartee after the recitation ot Sri Sai Amrit Vani, the chitcani (Lock) of the door simply dropped and door opened. Devotees felt a shodow coming in. Many devotees had the same feeling. I was in the adjacent room and felt a strong wind blowing in the room. I was so exited in that room even and what to say of the devotees in the main hall seeing the shadow. Many devotees also felt that there was a sound of Napeeri (Shenai) along with the other instruments of music in the cassette this Thursday. There was yet anpother new thing happened. This time there were all the sysbols on the photo of Baba in the mandir. There was a Cross, Chand – Sitara, Onkar and OM, besides RAM and SHAM and Trishool ( I was thinking of taking a picture, but could not as I had to leave home immediately after the Pooja and returned only in night). However we were missing the honey, Honey used to come in the last two weeks and the first two weeks of the year. This was happening regularly for the last two years.

During this week, Mrs Gupta visited Agra and Gurgaon and on both the place when Mrs Gupta did pooja of Baba, Udi oozed from the Statue and photos of Baba.
Every year we hold Sri Sai Bajan Sandhya and this year it is proposed to hold the Sri Sai Bajan Sandhya on 16th Feb 2008. Last year it was held on 24th Feb 2007. Abhishek will be at 5:30 and Aartii will start at 9:45 PM.

Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers to Baba ( Shirdi) and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra/ Sai Leelamrit by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 27th Dec 2007 (The list is sorted as per their email ids, to avoid duplications) . However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees, who wrote to us. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places.

This Thursday the 27th Dec 2007 , we enjoyed the following Leelas of Baba (of Shirdi).

1. Udi started oozing from Friday itself (due to Eid) from the two photos on the wall and Hindi words ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ ‘OM’, Chand – Sitara, and Cross were formed with Udi on one photos. Udi also started oozing from the statue in the mandir from the same time. On Thursday there was ‘ONKAR’ also on the photo in the mandir. Some times the word RAM is on the left side and some times it is on the right.
2. This Thursday also, the Holy Water started oozing from the Charans from Thursday early morning. A Thali was placed in the night of Wednesday itself, as water starts oozing from the early morning. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. This water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water.
3. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with lots of Udi during the prayers. Udi was in the folds of the falls of the Sari.
4. Several devotees had Udi in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani and on themselves during the pooja.
5. During the Aartee door got unlocked with a sound and opened itself. A shadow (Baba) appeared to have entered in the room.
6. On Thursday as soon as Bhog was offered, it was duly accepted by Baba. We noticed that the Bhog , which was placed before HIM was partially eaten. Part of Bhog was on the lips of photo and statue of Baba. Different items were there on lips in different photos. Parts of the remains in the box were given to the devotees who offered that item of bhog to Baba.
7. The feeling of Presence of Baba was very strong during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja and Prayer. This time again many devotees saw Baba walking through them. So many devotees having the same feeling. Is it not the Leela of Baba?
8. All the boxes of Bhog, which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi.
9. Many photos/statues and documents etc which were placed before Baba and same were blessed without any delay.

Jai Sai Ram

Sri Sai Amrit Vani started at 11:05 AM. Shama and रुपीस २

Shama and money 2

Sai Baba loved Shama (Madhav Rao Deshpande) so much. There was beauty and gladness about Shama, of which he did not had eyes to see. That was perhaps one of the reasons he kept coaxing Sai Baba for trivial matters. It did not matter much to Sai Baba, as his love wanted to give Shama the best, the spiritual treasures. He was assistance master in a junior school of Shirdi, which was adjacent to Dwarkamai.
Simultaneously, he practiced Ayurveda, the Indian ancient medical science of herbs that healed peoples of their physical problems. He did not attend any Ayurveda School for the same, the source of his learning was different books on the subject. He had became quite popular for the same. He always started his treatment after remembering Sai Baba and never failed to mix Udi, the sacred ash, which he use to receive from Sai Baba every time he met Sai Baba. Meeting with Sai Baba was several times a day, Shama use to collect the Udi with great care and respect. He used to put it in a corner of his home, which grew into a big heap, as times passed by.
Last post was about Shama and money, this post continues on the same theme.
Many devotees from far and wide would write letters to Sai Baba. Shama was the one who read the letters aloud to Him and wrote a reply according to Sai Baba's narration. Well, letters where not the only thing that were sent to Sai Baba through post. Many devotees would send money through post to Saibaba. Shama used to collect this money from the post office and hand it over to Sai Baba.
Once it happened that a devotee had sent two Ruppes via post. Shama collected the money, on his way back somehow his intentions where changed. He did not return the money to Sai, instead he hide it over the door of huge room adjacent to Dwarkamai, where Ratha was accommodated, in a cervice of wall.
One night there was a theft in Shama's home. He was robbed of Rs. 250/-, quite a significant amount for a man like him in those days. Search was made for the lost money, police were reported, in vain. The thief or the money were not to be discovered.
The dippressed and angry Shama went straight to his Deva, and said, " Deva there was a theft in my house and three hundred and fifty Rupees, were stolen. Do you feel good about it? Poor man like me lost so much money. Are Deva, who can I tell the tale of woe but You?
Sai Baba, who was calmly listening to the woes replied, " Arre Shamyaa, what is the matter? Because there was a theft, and you lost your money, you came to me with your complaint. But when My two Rupees were stolen, to whom should I complain?"
Shama quick to understand the pointer of Sai Baba replied, " Arre Deva, so You caused this robbery to happen. You are great, because Your two rupees were stolen You caused two hundred and fifty rupees to be stolen from a poor man like me. What kind of punishment is this? I lost two hundred and fifty rupees, while You lost only two rupees. What kind of justice is this?"
Sai Baba replied, "The value of two hundred and fifty rupees for a poor man like you, has the same value of two rupees for a Fakir like Me."
The above story confirm one thing "Baba ki leela Baba hi Jane" (Only Sai Baba knows his play).

Huge donation to श्री सैबबा संस्थान विडो

On another blog dedicated to Shirdi Sai Baba devotees, I had earlier mentioned about a donation of Rs. 68 crores by a single devotee। to Sri Saibaba Sansthan, Shirdi। Here is a video of the same covered by NDTV news Channel।The video posted by Ndtv television news channel says, "Among the lakhs of devotees who flock to the famous Sai Baba Shirdi in Nashik, one of them stands out। K V Ramani has pledged to donate a whopping Rs 68 crore to the temple trust।" This will bring about a great relief to lakhs of Saibaba devotees, who visits Shirdi and have a desperate wait for the accommodation provided by Sri Saibaba Sansthan. There are long waiting queue for the same. The devotees will get good accommodations with a very negligible prices. The money from the donation will be used in buying 15 acres of land, where rooms for the pilgrims will be build. The donor, Ramani, a software engineer from Chennai, made a killing on the stock market and he owes it all to Sai Baba of Shirdi. He made about Rs. 200 crores in three years in stock market, with the regular sensex boom. In the interview shown in the video he says, "I received much money, i don't need that much of money, Sai Baba has given me all this money, so i am giving back little from the earnings. The number of rooms that Sri Saibaba Sansthan Shirdi can provide now is 10,000, which will soon rise to 50,000.

[Baba's Day] Try Something Different

[Baba's Day] Try Something Different
ॐ Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success Happiness And Joy
There is a common phrase we have all heard knowledge is power. Today's word challenges us to become actively involved in our ongoing education. We cannot be truly powerful people through complacency. It is becoming increasingly important for us as individuals and as a society to put more focus on being aware.
When we willingly accept the norm without questioning we lose our sense of identity; we lose power in this world to make a difference. Behind every established norm is a great deal of history, tradition, and core values. We are so often taught to not question tradition, to accept other people's methods and values as our own without seeking the deeper meaning.
The act of questioning and seeking understanding is a beautiful process it causes us to open up to more of our potential. We are inspired to find innovative new methods from which to operate, and we find new and higher standards to hold ourselves up to. In this process of expansion new values can be adapted ones more in line with current times.
It can be easy to settle in and allow our routines to take over our lives. It is human to believe that things are fine as they are, and that may be the case many times, but fine and ok don't fuel our passion for living. We are inspired and drawn to create and achieve greatness - and the key tothis standard of living is knowledge. Our individual lives and our societies always benefit from a persistent dedication to expansion through education.
Today's Exercise:
Try something new. Look at the world through the eyes of others, view an alternative media outlet, or read a book or magazine something different than what you would normally select. You can do this with other aspects too, just do something different from your usual routine, or make a conscious effort to learn how to do something new or in a new way. Open yourself today on this Thursday [Baba's Day] up to a different experience and reflect on the meaning of it and what you learned at the end of the day.

Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit

जै साई राम
We witnessed many Leelas of Baba on this Thursday. Some we could understand and some we could not. I seek your help to understand His one Leela. It was a day before Eid so Chand Sitara was also formed on the photo with Udi along with the word RAM, SHAM and OM. There was something more writing on the thum of Baba in the photo, which we could not understand, if any devotee can make out, please mail us. I append 2 photos for this.

A Sai devotee gave Mrs. Gupta a statue of Baba to be place in the mandir for blessings. As soon as Mrs. Gupta took Baba in her hand, Udi appeared on Baba. It was all in the presence of so many devotees. With the permission of Baba/Mrs Gupta we took the photo, as Photo says, which we can’t say with words. I append the photo herewith. For feelings, Sorry I can’t write, one can easily imagine.

Every Thursday night when Mrs Gupta make Baba sleep, she cleanes all the photos and all the place. This morning ( on the day of Eid) again Udi started oozing and OM, cross and Chand Sitara were formed. We can understand this. There was no sign of word RAM and SHAM, There was yet another Leela. In the hall we have many photos on the wall and all with the garlands. Garland of one photo started swinging. It stopped and when somebody remarked about Baba’s eyes it started swinging. It happened many times whenever some one praised Baba, the garland started swinging. There was no air blowing and only this one garland was swinging. I tried to capture this also, but my hand shaked all the time and I could not cover it.

This year we are holding Sri Sai Bajan Sandhya on 16th Feb 2008. Last year it was held on 24th Feb 2007. Abhishek will be at 5:30 and Aartii will start at 9:45 PM.

Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers to Baba ( Shirdi) and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra/ Sai Leelamrit by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 20th Dec 2007 (The list is sorted as per their email ids, to avoid duplications) . However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees, who wrote to us. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places.

Other Leelas of Baba were the same which happen every Thursdays. I am not repeating them this time.

Sri Sai Amrit Vani started at 11:05 AM. Noon Aartee, the same Aartee which is being recited in Shirdi, started at 12:00 Hrs. followed by brief Meditation and the prayer, Prayan of Sri Sai Leelamrit Chapter 11 was done. Mrs. Gupta offered prayers and thanks to Baba. Finally distribution of Prasad and the water from the Charans. As usual some devotees talked about their experiences. Some devotee stayed for the lunch and some even after that.

Devotees interested in attending it in person may contact on phone nos. 26346942, 9868966605 or 9312494767 only after 11 AM and before 8 PM (IST) on any day except Thursdays but no calls on Thursdays PLEASE. They should NOT bring any bhog with them and be in time. Kids are also not allowed in the hall. Mobiles have to be put on silent mode during the Pooja. Please also bring a small bottle with broad neck for the holy water.

Selection of 100 Shirdi Sai Baba Sayings

A Collection from श्री साई सत्चारिता

Why fear when I am here?

I am formless and एवेर्य्व्हेरे

I am in everything and beyond। I fill all space.

All that you see taken together is Myself।

I do not shake or move.

If one devotes their entire time to me and rests in me, need fear nothing for body and soul।

If one sees me and me alone and listens to my Leelas and is devoted to me alone, they will reach God.

My business is to give blessings।

I get angry with none. Will a mother get angry with her children? Will the ocean send back the waters to the several rivers?
I will take you to the end।

Surrender completely to God.

If you make me the sole object of your thoughts and aims, you will gain the supreme goal।

Trust in the Guru fully. That is the only sadhana.

I am the slave of my devotee।

Stay by me and keep quiet. I will do the rest.

What is our duty? To behave properly। That is enough।

My eye is ever on those who love me.

Whatever you do, wherever you may be, always bear this in mind: I am always aware of everything you do।

I will not allow my devotees to come to harm.

If a devotee is about to fall, I stretch out my hands to support him or her।

I think of my people day and night. I say their names over and over.

My treasury is open but no one brings carts to take from it। I say, “Dig!” but no one bothers।

My people do not come to me of their own accord; it is I who seek and bring them to me.

All that is seen is my form: ant, fly, prince, and pauper

However distant my people may be, I draw them to me just as we pull a bird to us with a string tied to its foot।

I love devotion.
This body is just my house। My guru has long ago taken me away from it.

Those who think that Baba is only in Shirdi have totally failed to know me।

Without my grace, not even a leaf can move.

I look on all with an equal eye।

I cannot do anything without God’s permission.

God has agents everywhere and their powers are vast।

I have to take care of my children day and night and give an account to God of every paisa. The wise are cheerful and content with their lot in life.

If you are wealthy, be humble। Plants bend when they bear fruit।

Spend money in charity; be generous and munificent but not extravagant.

Get on with your worldly activities cheerfully, but do not forget God।

Do not kick against the pricks of life.

Whatever creature comes to you, human or otherwise, treat it with consideration।

Do not be obsessed by the importance of wealth.

See the divine in the human being।

Do not bark at people and don’t be aggressive, but put up with others’ complaints.

There is a wall of separation between oneself and others and between you and me। Destroy this wall!

Give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, and clothes to the naked. Then God will be pleased.

Saburi (patience) ferries you across to the distant goal।

The four sadhanas and the six Sastras are not necessary. Just has complete trust in your guru: it is enough.

Meditate on me either with form or without form, that is pure bliss।

God is not so far away. He is not in the heavens above, nor in hell below. He is always near you.

If anyone gets angry with another, they wound me to the quick।

If you cannot endure abuse from another, just say a simple word or two, or else leave.

What do we lose by another’s good fortune? Let us celebrate with them, or strive to emulate them।

That should be our desire and determination.

I stay by the side of whoever repeats my name।

If formless meditation is difficult, then think of my form just as you see it here. With such meditation, the difference between subject and object is lost and the mind dissolves in unity.

If anyone offends you do not return tit for tat।

I am the slave of those who hunger and thirst after me and treat everything else as unimportant.

Whoever makes me the sole object of their love, merges in me like a river in the ocean।

Look to me and I will look to you.

What God gives is never exhausted, what man gives never lasts।

Be contented and cheerful with what comes.

My devotees see everything as their Guru।

Poverty is the highest of riches and a thousand times superior to a king’s wealth.

Put full faith in God’s providence।

Whoever withdraws their heart from wife, child, and parents and loves me, is my real lover.

Distinguish right from wrong and be honest, upright and virtuous।

Do not be obsessed by egotism, imagining that you are the cause of action: everything is due to God.

If we see all actions as God’s doing, we will be unattached and free from karmic bondage।

Other people’s acts will affect just them. It is only your own deeds that will affect you.

Do not be idle: work, utter God’s name and read the scriptures।

If you avoid rivalry and dispute, God will protect you.

People abuse their own friends and family, but it is only after performing many meritorious acts that one gets a human birth। Why then come to Shirdi and slander people?

Speak the truth and truth alone.

No one wants to take from me what I give abundantly।

Do not fight with anyone, nor retaliate, nor slander anyone.

Harsh words cannot pierce your body। If anybody speaks ill of you, just continue on unperturbed।

Choose friends who will stick to you till the end, through thick and thin.

Meditate on what you read and think of God।

I give my devotees whatever they ask, until they ask for what I want to give.

You should not stay for even one second at a place where people are speaking disrespectfully of a saint।

If you do not want to part with what you have, do not lie and claim that you have nothing, but decline politely saying that circumstances or your own desires prevent you.

Let us be humble।

Satsang that is associating with the good is good. Dussaya, or associating with evil-minded people, is evil and must be avoided.

What you sow, you reap। What you give, you get।

Recognize the existence of the Moral Law as governing results. Then unswervingly follow this Law.

All gods are one। There is no difference between a Hindu and a Muslim। Mosque and temple are the same।

Fulfill any promises you have made.

Death and life are the manifestations of God’s activity। You cannot separate the two। God permeates all।

Mukti is impossible for those addicted to lust.

Gain and loss, birth and death are in the hands of God।

When you see with your inner eye. Then you realize that you are God and not different from Him.

Avoid unnecessary disputationò

The giver gives, but really he is sowing the seed for later: the gift of a rich harvest।

Wealth is really a means to work out dharma. If one uses it merely for personal enjoyment, it is vainly spent.

To God be the praise। I am only the slave of God।

God will show His love. He is kind to all.

Whenever you undertake to do something, do it thoroughly or not at all।

One’s sin will not cease till one falls at the feet of Sadhusò

Be ashamed of your hatred। Give up hatred and be quiet।

The Moral Law is inexorable, so follow it, observe it, and you will reach your goal: God is the perfection of the Moral Law.

I am your servants’ servant।

Always think of God and you will see what He does.

Have faith and patience। Then I will be always with you wherever you are।

Message For Thursday

ॐ Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success Happiness And Joy
Oh, Sai Let Your blessings be upon usAs our deeds lead to noble consequences In the path of devotion for that is our only righteous dutyOh Sai Let your blessings be upon us
Intense pursuit of at-one-ment with Sadguru leads a sadhak to completely believe that it is the Sadguru that defines every deed and to him the consequences are credited to. His reminders of our spiritual duty in the path of devotion are perhaps the only cognizance a sadhak should pay attention to. There is no need for any other form of discrimination. A diligent focus on this simple truth should eventually dismiss all other forms of discrimination. What is more futile than spend a life's time on the convenient facts, the concoctions of the intellect! Faith, patience, humility, love and compassion by any definition are indiscriminate expressions that Sadguru requires of a devotee. These expressions have only origin not a destination, just like the warmth of the sun and the comfort of a cool breeze.

Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit
29th Nov 2007
Jai Sai Ram
It was the usual Thursday with usual Leelas of Baba. Leelas are listed below.

Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers to Baba ( Shirdi) and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 29th Nov 2007 (The list is sorted as per their email ids, to avoid duplications) . However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places.

This Thursday the 29nd Nov 2007. we enjoyed the following Leelas of Baba (of Shirdi).

1. This Thursday, Udi started oozing from Saturday itself, as it was the birthday of Guru Nanak ji as well as mine. Udi was oozing from the two photos on the wall and Hindi words `RAM' `SHAM' and `OM', and figure of Trishool were formed with Udi on one photo. Udi was also oozing from the photo and statue in the mandir and also forming the words `RAM' , `SHAM' and `OM' on the photo from Saturday the 24th Nov.
2. This Thursday the Holy Water started oozing from the Charans from Thursday morning.
4. Several devotees had Udi in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani and on themselves during the pooja.
6. The feeling of Presence of Baba was very strong during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja and Prayer. Many devotees saw Baba walking through them. So many devotees having the same feeling. Is it not the Leela of Baba.
7. All the boxes of Bhog, which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi.
8. Many photos/statues and documents etc which were placed before Baba and same were blessed without any delay.

EXPERIENCE OF SAIBANSIA GOPALRAO RAVEDA

EXPERIENCE OF SAIBANSIA GOPALRAO RAVEDA

During the year 1991 I was trying for a good marriage alliance for my daughter but I could not succeed in this process. It was on 01-01-92 New Year's day morning I prayed Sri SAI BABA of SHIRIDI and asked for a message regarding the marriage of my daughter. I closed my eyes and opened a page in the SAI SATCHARITA written by Sri Nagesh Vasudev Gunaji. To my surprise it was page 241 chapter 47 and the message was "I told him not to worry about this, as the bridegroom himself would come seeking her". I was very happy as the message indicates marriage of my daughter will takes place in the year 1992. In the month of January 1992 One of my friends took the necessary details of my daughter so that he will give it to some known person for her marriage. On 17-02-1992 I received a phone call from someone who came from Visakhapatnam to seek my daughter's alliance. I was in dilemma and prayed Baba, Sri SAI BABA instantly answered my prayer and advised me to go ahead. The boy and their parents liked my daughter and on 20-02-1992, the marriage of my daughter was fixed. I felt Sri SAI has given a good bridegroom to my daughter. The marriage fixed on 10-05-1992 at 06.58 a.m. in Hyderabad. I prayed Baba to help me in the marriage activities and for the success of the marriage on 22-03-1992 in the afternoon sleep Sri SAI BABA appeared to me in the dream in the form of my Father (LATE SRI R.V.RAO) and promised me that he will help me in my daughters marriage and he will attend the marriage also. I was surprised how a dead person (my father) can attend the marriage and help me in the marriage. IN SAI SATCHARITA chapter 40 page 212 SRI SAI BABA says "I always to think about him for those who remembers me, I require no conveyance, i.e carriage, Tonga, (Horse drawn Cart) or an Aero plane. I run and manifest myself to him, who lovingly calls on me". I felt SRI SAI BABA might not attend the marriage of my daughter in the form of my father. SRI SAI says in the SAI SATCHARITA page 151 chapter 28 "I have no form nor any extension - I live Everywhere" SRI SAI BABA further told in chapter 40 page 213 "See, to keep my words I would even sacrifice my life, I would never be untrue to my words". I totally surrendered to SRI SAI BABA and started the marriage arrangements. In the month of March 1992 wedding cards were printed and as per the directions of SRI SAI I posted First card to Genesh Temple, Ranathambhor, Second card to Balaji Temple, Tirupathi, Third card to Sri Sai Baba in Shiridi. Then I posted five cards abroad and prayed Baba to see that at least one family from abroad attends the marriage. The day before the marriage I prayed Baba to help me in carrying out the necessary activities. On the day of marriage I was very busy in the morning and could not spare even five minutes time for reading the SAI SATCHARITA. I was having Ahamkar (Pride) that I can spare daily time for SATCHARITA PARAYANA. Sri Sai made me so much busy that I could not touch the SAI SATCHARITA on that day, and he removed my Ahamkar. I totally forgot Sri Sai in the marriage and I was talking to my friends and bridegroom's relatives. It was around 11.45 a.m. the Pandit of Bridegroom has come to me along with a Brahmin and asked me to give some Dakshina to the Brahmin. I thought the Brahmin must be his relative, and I gave Rs.21/- as Dakshina. Then the Brahmin was asking about food. The Pandit has sent him to dining hall to take the food along with other guests. In the dining hall I noticed that the Brahmin who took Dakshina from me was smiling towards me, I felt he may ask more money and so I left that place. I was completely occupied with the relatives and guest and did not even take the food till night. After the MUHARAT in the morning my well wisher who came to the marriage from U.S.A has offered the Break-fast and told. Had I not taken the breakfast it would have become FASTING day to me. SRI SAI is against fasting and he never allowed his devotees to observe fasting. (Ref.Chapter 32 page 173). In the night before I was going to bed I prayed Sri Sai Baba and conveyed my thanks to him for the success of the marriage. I felt Sri Sai Baba has not attended the marriage and it was Baba's breach of promise. Sri Sai has promised on 22-03-1992 that he will attend the marriage, if Sri Sai Baba attended the marriage in which form he attended? It was a question to me and I asked Sri Sai to kindly clear my doubts. Sri Sai Baba appeared to me in the dream in the form of Brahmin (who took Rs.21/- from me as Dakshina) and was smiling. I got up from my bed and stood in front of Sai's Photograph and blamed myself for not recognizing Sai who attended my daughter's marriage without fail. Next day to cross check I asked Bridegrooms Pandit about the Brahmin who took Rs.21/- as Dakshina from me. He informed that the Brahmin is a Stranger to him who happened to come to the marriage. I felt that STRANGER is none other than SAI.

Satsang Baba Appears as an Old Man

Baba Appears as an Old Man
By R. Radhakrishnan

Lovely temple for Sai Baba has come up at Mekkudi, 18 km from Trichy on the Madurai route. It is built at a cost 65 lakhs and it can accommodate over 500 devotees for congregation. Kumbabhishekam took place on 24th and 25th October 2001.

On 25th October 2001 around 11 a.m., a tall bearded old man came to the temple. He was dressed poorly and was holding a bamboo stick of 7-ft height. His personality resembled Baba. On seeing him, my intuition prompted me that it is Sai Baba himself has come in that form. I received him with folded hands and made him sit on a vacant chair. I called Sai Bandhu K. V. Ramani and told him my feelings. He immediately took out an 'Anga Vastra' and bowed to him by placing it around the old man's neck. Then the old man pretended that his legs were paining and asked us whether Baba would alleviate his suffering. We affirmed that Baba would take care of everything. He then looked at Baba's idol and bowed to him. By then, my wife, a few devotees like Swaminathan came there and were quick to recognize the old man as Baba and prostrated before him.

The old man told us that he has kept some 'kanikai', which he will bring it next time. He also told us that he has been visiting this place since a long time and declared that this is a sanctified place and the devotees who come to this temple will be blessed and their problems would be automatically solved.

Then he received the prasad - sweet ?pongal'. He put it in his upper cloth and took leave of us. He walked back to the entrance holding the bamboo shaft for support. Sri Swaminathan escorted him and at the exit door offered him a ?dakshina' of Rs. 10/- with reverence.

Sai Baba appears in any form, at any time, at any place in the form of a fakir, Sadhu, dog, cat, pig etc., and blesses the devotees. We should be alert always to recognize Baba. If we are always thinking of him, then we would have his 'darshan' easily.

Wonder To
A holy man who lived at the outskirts of Bangalore was said to perform miracles, so his Ashram was a centre of pilgrimage for large crowds of people.

Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji, who was known to be quite uninterested in the miracles, would never reply to questions on this holy man. When asked point blank why he was opposed to miracles, Swamiji replied: "How can one be opposed to what is taking place before one's eyes each moment of the day?"

Deception
Some devotees asked Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji: "How shall we distinguish the true mystic from the false?" Swamiji asked a counter question: "How do you distinguish the true sleeper from the one who is feigning sleep?"
Devotee: "There is no way. Only the sleeper knows when he is feigning."
Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji just smiled. Later Swamiji said: "The feigning sleeper can delude others- he cannot delude himself. The false mystic, unfortunately, can delude both others and himself."

Satsang A Lesson in Faith

A Lesson in Faith
By Sri Narasimha Swamiji

Chinna Kistna Saheb was very devoted to Vishnu from his boyhood. Even from his younger days, he used to sit for long in one asana (yogic posture) meditating on his chosen deity. This went on till, in his twenty-first year, (about 1910), he had three successive dream-visions in one night. At first he experienced his separation from his physical body and before him was the divine form of Lord Vishnu. A second time the same vision recurred but this time there was someone else standing beside him. Lord Vishnu pointed to that stranger and said, 'This Sai Baba of Shirdi is your man; you must resort to Him." In the third vision he again left his physical body and drifted in the air to some village.

There he saw someone and asked him for the name of the village and was told that it was Shirdi. Then he enquired whether there was a holy man by name Sai Baba in that village. The stranger led him to a mosque where Chinna Kistna saw Sai Baba seated leaning against its wall with his legs stretched before Him. On seeing Chinna Kistna, Sai Baba got up and said, "Do you take my darshan? I am your debtor. I must take your "darshan" and placed His head reverently on Chinna Kistna's feet. Then the vision ended. Though he saw Sai Baba's picture earlier, he never knew that Sai Baba's most characteristic manner of sitting was with His legs stretched out before Him. Shortly after, Chinna Kistna went to Shirdi to verify whether Baba was his destined Guru as the dream seemed to indicate. When he actually saw Baba, a doubt arose in his mind whether it would be proper to worship a man like Him.

At once Baba said, "What do you worship a man for?" The rebuff was keen and to the point. When nothing more happened to confirm his dream Chinna Kistna was a bit dissatisfied. Later, in the afternoon, when every other devotee retired to his room, Chinna Kistna made bold to visit Sai, though it was thought that no one should visit Baba at that hour. Baba, far from getting angry, beckoned to him. Chinna Kistna approached Him and bowed in reverence. At once Sai Baba hugged him with love and said, "You are my child. When others (i.e., strangers) are present, we (i.e., saints like Me) keep off the children." Thus was the man's dream confirmed.

On another afternoon Baba embraced him and said, "The key of my treasury is now placed in your hands. Ask anything you want." "Then Baba", said shrewd Chinna Kistna, "I want this. In this and in any future birth that may befall me, You should never part from me. You always be with me." Baba patted him joyously and said, 'Yes, I shall be with you, inside you and outside you, whatever you may be or do."

There is one instance to show how, when Chinna Kistna's heart was yielding to some other love, Baba asserted His monopoly over it. Many years later, Chinna Kistna's child died and his wife was disconsolate. With the dead child in his lap Chinna Kistna sat on with a grief-stricken heart. Baba at once appeared before him and said," Do you want me or the dead child? Choose! You cannot have both. If you want me to revive the child, I will; but then you will have Me no more with you. If you do not ask for the revival of this one, you will have several children in due course.' Then Chinna Kistna said that he wanted Him only. “Then do not grieve", Baba said and vanished.

Another confirmation of his earlier dream-vision that Chinna Kistna was Baba's man: When he visited a great saint of Poona named Sri Madhava Nath, on seeing Chinna Kistna, at once said, "You are Sai Baba's Man."

In 1912 Chinna Kistna visited Baba on the holy Guru Purnima day. Seeing other devotees offering garlands and other gifts to Baba he realized how unfortunate he was in that he did not remember to get any gift to the saint. At once Baba said to him, "All these are yours!", and He pointed at the bundle of garlands offered to Him by other devotees. Thereby Baba hinted that the heart's loving desire to offer is of greater value than a formal physical offering.

Satsang The Source of Inspiration

The Source of Inspiration
By Justice T. N. Vallinayagam
Mr। Justice I N. Vallinayagam of the Karnataka High Court was with us on 15.1.1999 to release the booklet ‘Thus Spake Saipadananda' and we are pleased to publish excerpts from his speech in the form of an article.

- Editor
Religion exists for the uplift of humanity and is a path to Divinity। Fundamentally the basic principles of all religions are alike; but the base ego often perverts them for its own ends. The Vedas and works like those of Valmiki and Veda Vyasa, the former depicting the life' story of Lord Rama and the latter of Lord Krishna in the Mahabharata which inter alia contains the Bhagavad Geetha - the Divine Song - and a code of conduct for humanity in spiritual, moral and social spheres, are epics of which one could be justly proud. The great prophet Mohamed and Jesus Christ propagated religions of peace and universal love.

In Kali Yuga, politics and greed have deflected the Hindus from the teachings of the Vedas and Puranas; the Muslims from those of the Koran and Christian nations are claiming a desire to establish peace by war! India is in turmoil despite its proud culture and peace loving nature. Even nature has become violent and we hear of destructive floods and earthquakes.

For fifty years, the great Master Sai Baba of Shirdi disseminated by precept and example the religion of faith, truth and love to humanity, when he was in the mortal coil, and decades after his Mahasamadhi in 1918, his message has progressively rung louder throughout the length and breadth of India- and even beyond, thanks to the sincere and untiring labors of His apostles - Poojya Sri Narasimha Swamiji and Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji. As a humble devotee of Sai Baba, I am proud of his glory and grace.

Sai Baba was 'Parabrahma' but was humility incarnate. He would say: 'I am a servant of God." Many instances of His supreme mystic power and leelas could be cited, but he never paraded them and attributed everything to Allah and the Guru. There was no distinction with him of caste, class or creed and the Hindu would do his worship in the mosque along with Muslim and Parsi devotees and others who offered prayers in their own way. He never gave up 'Bhiksha' although after 1911 there were large offerings of fruits and sweets of which He took only little bits. He used to distribute fairly large amounts of money every day but spent nothing on Himself. Just before His last breath He took nine coins from his pocket and gave to Lakshmi.

He was an ocean of 'Premamrita' but people looked up to Him more for worldly benefits than spiritual. He once said that thousands had come to Him, but those who came for purely spiritual benefit could be counted on his fingers.

Our duty is to vow complete surrender of ourselves to Him and live our worldly life with as much detachment as possible, and with faith and love, be living examples of Universal Brotherhood. We have the ideals of Sri Narasimha Swamiji and Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji and may the Master in His unbounded Grace make us worthy of Him.

Rely on YourselfA disciple came riding on his camel to the tent of his Sufi Master. He dismounted and walked right into the tent, bowed low and said, "So great is my faith in God that I have left my camel outside untied, convinced that God protects the interests of those who love him."

"Go tie your camel, you fool!" said the Master. God cannot be bothered doing for you what you are perfectly capable of doing for yourself.
GOSSIP
A devotee confessed his bad habit of repeating gossip. Smilingly, replied Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji: Repeating it would not be so bad if you did not
He advised to repeat Vishnu Sahasra Namam instead of indulging in gossip. To those devotees who were always asking for words of wisdom, Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji said, "Wisdom is not expressed in words. It reveals itself in action. But when he saw them plunge headlong into activity he laughed and said, "That is not action. That is Motion”

Satsang Power of Guru

Power of गुरु
(From the glorious life of थ्यगाराजा स्वामी )
By Dr. G. R. विजयकुमार

Compositions of Thyagaraja Swami are well known in all families in South India. Blessed with exceptional musical talent, Thyagaraja spurned fame and riches and devoted his life to Lord Ramachandra. His compositions have the capacity to instill devotion, joy and happiness in the hearts of all.

Thyagaraja was born as the third child to Brahmin parents, Rama Brahma and Shanta Devi, in 1767 at Thiruvayaru, near Thanjavur, in Tamil Nadu. The parents had prayed in the local Thyagaraja Temple and mother Shanta Devi had a divine darshan with the message: "I am pleased with your seva and bhakti. A great singer and a bhakta of Lord Rama will be born to you."

When the bhakta was born, Rama Brahma named him Thyagaraja, since he was born by the blessings of Thyagaraja. When he was five, his father began to teach him Telugu. Both parents also took him to Thyagaraja Mandir where the boy listened to kirtans. Often he would also join in the singing. The adult singers appreciated his sweet voice and singing style. Noticing his innate musical ability Rama Brahma arranged for him to learn music.

He became Shondi Venkataraman' s pupil. The Guru was a famous teacher at the royal court of Thanjavur. Thyagaraja studied sincerely. By the age of 16, he had mastered many aspects of music. He began to compose and sing kirtans on Lord Rama. Simultaneously, he studied Sanskrit. After obtaining the Guru's blessings, he returned home.

Thyagaraja never envisaged his musical abilities as a source of income. For this reason his elder brothers often quarreled with him. When 18, Thyagaraja married Parvati. Soon Thyagaraja's parents expired. Four years later Parvati too died. This increased Thyagaraja's detachment from the world. But at people's behest he re-married Parvati's sister Kamala. After marriage, Thyagaraja continued his deep devotion, singing Lord Rama's kirtans for hours at a time. This infuriated Jayesh, his eldest brother, who supported the household. Jayesh rebuked Thyagaraja saying that singing kirtans would not bring home food. How long could he support him and his wife?

Thyagaraja relinquished his father's property to him and retired to a hut away from the village. Thyagaraja comforted his wife: "Do not worry. In this isolated retreat, it will be even more joyous to offer devotion. Lord Rama is here to care for us. He may awaken us hungry but he will not lest us sleep so." Kamala had the grace not to demand perishable worldly objects from her husband, who was totally immersed in devotion.

Once, while Thyagaraja was engrossed in singing kirtans, a renunciate named Ramakrishnananda arrived on their doorstep. The couple welcomed him by offering the little fruit they had in store. Pleased by their service, he offered them a boon. Thyagaraja replied: "O Yogiraj! The stalwart renunciates never arrive without a purpose. All I ask is for a Guru - Mantra to cross 'Sansar’”. Ramakrishnananda commanded Thyagaraja: "Recite the Rama mantra ten million times and Lord Rama will redeem you."

Resolutely, Thyagaraja commenced chanting the Rama mantra, 125,000 times every day. When he was 38 years old, he completed the Rama mantra. By Lord Rama's grace, he attained Vachan Siddhi'. This meant that whatever he spoke would prove true. In addition, even in his sleep, while his lips remained closed, one could hear the incessant chanting of 'Rama, Rama'.

But a constant fear troubled him. By Vachan siddhi' one could not only do good to others, but curse them as well. What could be the outcome, he wondered, if an ugly incident arose and he cursed someone? He quickly held a yagna on completion of his japas. He offered back to Rama the Vachan ‘Siddhi' he had been granted. By renouncing this siddhi, he also remained true to the meaning of his name-Thyagaraj, King of Renunciation.

At that time, he heard a knock at the door. On opening it, he witnessed an unbelievable sight - a teenage form of Lord Rama, accompanied by Lakshman and the Rishi, Viswamitra. Transfixed on seeing his Lord, he forgot to welcome them. Divine rays emanating from Lord Rama entered Thyagaraja's body and soon the divine darshan ended. Only then did Thyagaraja come to his senses and repented for failing to welcome them. Deeply regretting this, the kirtans he composed thereafter, all pined for the Lord. These kirtans and his music spread his fame all over. People regarded him as a saintly personality and began to flock to his hut.

Sage Narada blessed him with a visit and gifted him 'Swavarnava Siddhi'. By this, his knowledge and musical talents improved markedly.

King Sharbhoj invited him to his court. But Thyagaraja refused saying: "Only Lord Rama's name plays on my tongue. Never will it sing praises of a king. The head which has bowed to Lord Rama will not bow to a king. By forsaking Lord Rama's seva, I will not adopt royal service. I only know Lord Rama's palace and if it is my good fortune, there I will go."

On receiving this message, the King did not get angry but, himself decided to visit Thyagaraja. When his elder brother Jayesh heard the news that Thyagaraja had refused to visit the court, he was infuriated, since he craved for the worldly riches which the king would have gifted Thyagaraja. He therefore grabbed Lord Rama's murti and flung it in the nearby river Kaveri. Loving this murti more than his own soul, Thyagaraja plunged into the river. People on the banks watched aghast. Thyagaraja swam to the bottom and somehow located the murti. Onlookers hailed him and scorned Jayesh.

Now old age had set in. He composed hundreds of kirtans dedicated to Lord Rama. His wife Kamala died. This deeply saddened Thyagaraja. Henceforth, his poems reflected this sorrow and lamentations for Kamala. He then renounced to become a sanyasi. Soon in 1847, he passed away and joined Lord Rama in Vaikunth.

Satsang Destiny and Free Will

Destiny and Free Will
By Dr. H. Janardana Acharya
'There' is nothing greater than 'Vishnu Sahasra Namam'. Nothing else can give you in destroyable peace. Nothing can give you freedom from pain and agony except recitation of Vishnu Sahasra Namam at least once a day.
- Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji

Destiny and free will are synonymous. If the life phenomenon is a coin, the destiny is its obverse and the free-will its reverse. The relationship between them is as old and good as the relationship between the plant and the seed. Whether the destiny is the follower of free-will or otherwise is a never answerable question.

What is one today is due to the culmination of the play of one's freewill enacted yesterday, an yesterday that can be carried to an action. The product of the free will is called destiny or fate ('Adrishta'). Destiny is invisible but it is the product of one's own making and therefore one has the capacity to unmake it. The spool of destiny is wound by him and he himself would be able to unwind it.

The Sahasra Nama admits that the problem of fate and freewill is ponderous and formidable ('Gahano Guhaha'). However it clarifies the problem in ten words. The words 'Karanam Kaaranam Kartha Vikartha' say that He is the instrument and implement, He is the cause, He is the doer and He is the non-doer or undoer. In conclusion these words combine to say that it is the destiny's hand that is at work and that this phase of destiny in the phenomenon of life is un-understandable and unknowable.

But the seeker should not be discouraged. The reverse of the coin stamped ('Vyavasayah Vyavasthanah' etc,). It goads him to strive (Vyavasayah). His efforts will not go unobserved Nothing goes amiss in orderly dispensation and one's efforts will be rewarded (Sthanadah). The Dhruva is the final firm reassurance to the seeker that the destiny will run according to one's industry. It also illustrates the attainment of puranic Dharma whose persistent endeavor and final reach of Shimshumara Chakra, the pave of the universe are classically proverbial.

This son of mutual relationship between free will and destiny and the identity of them is the dispensation of His supreme wisdom which is clear to the saints of the caliber of His Holiness Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji.

What is this supreme wisdom?
We shall bury our past. Let us build our future not allowing the present (to slip away but making the best of the present. Now is our time, not tomorrow. [Keeping the classical Dhruva as our ideal, we shall hitch our wagon to the plot star and not minding the earth to which we are temporarily bound and pulled] shall try to reach the vault striving, striving and striving.

Permanent feature
The Lord Knows!
Keep on doing the good you can, though others receive the credit for it. What you do is your offering to the Lord. And none can deceive Him.

The Triple Secret
Do Tings go hard with you?
Persevere in doing your duty and also, pray to God: but in doing your duly be humble.
[If you have these three — Perseverance, prayer and humility. — It will, at last, be well with you!

Real Birthday
REAL BIRTHDAY is the day when the spiritual self emerges from beyond and overpowers the entire being from every side.
REAL BIRTHDAY is the day when divine virtues take birth with ourselves, and make us happy and peaceful
REAL BIRTHDAY is the day when old 'Samskaras' have died, giving birth to the religious zeal.

Due to the marriage season, it was expected that there are going to be less no. of devotees for the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani. However there were 5 devotee from different families from USA. There was slight deviation in the programme. Prayan of Sai Leelamrit was not done instead extracts from Sri Sai Satcharitra were read by Mrs. Gupta. This Thursday Baba blessed a Doctor devotee also with udi in the lap, in addition to Mrs Gupta.

Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers to Baba ( Shirdi) and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 22nd Nov 2007 (The list is sorted as per their email ids, to avoid duplications) . However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places.

This Thursday the 22nd Nov 2007. we enjoyed the following Leelas of Baba (of Shirdi).

1. Udi started oozing from Monday from the two photos on the wall and Hindi words `RAM' `SHAM' and `OM', and figure of Trishool were formed with Udi on one photo. Udi started oozing from the photo and statue in the mandir and also forming the words `RAM' , `SHAM' and `OM' on the photo from Wednesday .
2. This Thursday the Holy Water started oozing from the Charans from Thursday morning. A Thali was placed in the night itself, as water starts oozing from the early morning. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. This water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water.
3. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with lots of Udi during the prayers. A doctor devotee was also blessed with Udi in her lap.
4. Several devotees had Udi in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani and on themselves during the pooja.
6. The feeling of Presence of Baba was very strong during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja and Prayer.
7. All the boxes of Bhog, which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi.
8. Many photos/statues and documents etc were placed before Baba and same were blessed without any delay.

Baba's Remarkable Yoga Practices

Sai Baba's all embracing kindness and omnipresence was well known to all his devotees.Sai Baba was an exceptional Yogi. He had achieved great prowess in various Yogic actions right in his childhood. Exactly how much excellence he had attainted no one knew. He used to cure people of various ailments and yet he never accepted any payments in return. People came to him from far corners of the country for these Yogic cures. Poor people who were suffering from serious ailments and who had heard of his miraculous curative powers used to come to Baba and get cured. As a consequence of his ability to take upon himself the pain and sufferings of others he faced tremendous difficulties and suffered unimaginable pain. One particular instance is cited in Sai Satcharitra as evidence of this aspect of Baba's love for humanity. Once on Deepawali Baba was sitting beside his Dhuni and while enjoying the warmth of the bonfire he was feeding the Dhuni with firewood.
The flames were getting bigger and brighter. Suddenly Baba put his hand in the fire instead of firewood. His hand was badly scorched. Madhav the servant and Madhav Rao Deshpande when they realized what Baba was doing ran to Baba and forcibly pulled him away from the fire. Madhav Rao asked Baba, "Deva, why did you do this?" Baba replied "A short distance from here a blacksmith's wife was busily working the bellows at the smithy when her husband called out to her. She quickly ran to her husband leaving the baby near the fire. When she was away accidentally the baby fell into the fire. Promptly I put my hand into the fire and rescued the baby. I am not sorry that my hand is burnt but I am very happy that I saved the live of an innocent baby."When Nana Saheb Chandorkar learnt that Baba had burnt his hand he immediately sent Dr. Parmanand with necessary medicines. Dr. Parmanand requested Baba to permit him to dress his wound but Baba refused. Bhagoji Shinde - a devotee who was suffering from Leprosy was allowed to dress Baba's burnt hand.
Everyday, Bhagoji would rub ghee on the wound, place a leaf on it and then tie a tight bandage. Chandorkar repeatedly begged Baba to get the burn examined by doctors and take proper treatment but Baba would not agree. When Dr. Parmanand begged him to let him treat the wound Baba brushed him aside saying "Allah alone is my doctor". Bhagoji continued to nurse the hand till Baba took Samadhi. In truth Baba did not require this nursing but he let Bhagoji serve him - such was Baba's love and such his way of granting grace to his devotees.Baba used to perform wondrous 'Leelas'. There is a specially endearing one about Baby Khaparde. Dada Saheb Khaparde's (of Amrawati) wife had been staying at Shirdi with her younger son. The child had caught plague, was running high fever and had swollen glands. Mrs. Khaparde was extremely worried and decided to go back to Amrawati. That evening when Baba was passing by 'Vada' (now Samadhi Mandir), in the course of his evening walk Mrs. Khaparde went to Baba and said in a tremulous voice, "Baba my son is suffering from plague hence I want to go back home". Baba, in a very affectionate tone said to her "the sky is over cast, when the clouds disperse there will be light again", saying this to Mrs. Khaparde he lifted his Kafani and all present saw the four egg size swollen glands. Baba said, "see how I suffer for my Devotees! Their sufferings are mine".Baba's heart was full of compassion for his Devotees. He loved them as his own children and took their pain and sufferings upon himself.

Satsang BABA'S SAYINGS AND HAPPENINGS

By T.A. Ram Nathen

First give up all ideas of enjoyment in this world and the next, care only for God and Truth. We are here to know truth, not for enjoyment. Leave that to brutes that enjoy as we never can. Man is a thinking being and must struggle on until he conquers death, until he sees the light. He must not spend himself in vain talking that bears no fruit. Worship of society and popular opinion is idolatry. The soul has no sex, no country, no place, no time.

Swami Vivekananda says here, that happen there, so said Sai Baba. And how? Only a saint knows another saint and his ways. Avatar Meher Baba has enlightened us on the mysterious ways of Sai Baba's sayings and happenings. Meher Baba has said: "....... the Jivatma in the gross sphere uses the mind through gross matters; in the subtle sphere, He uses the mind directly without the aid of gross and subtle means."

Strictly speaking, unless and until the mental sphere is reached, none really knows what the mind actually is much less to do things through the medium of the mind itself to bring our tangible results.

Suppose a pilgrim in Egypt reaches the mental sphere and conceives the idea of visiting America, the pilgrim has not even to think about America; but simultaneously with a wish on his part to be there he will find himself actually there speedier than the time it takes to think about America in the ordinary way. And how does the pilgrim travel faster than the thought itself? Because he does not, strictly speaking, travel as the mind is everywhere. The pilgrim in the mental sphere, whom we address as ?Mahaan', ?Vali', ?Maha Yogi', can be anywhere he likes without availing his gross and subtle organs.

In the gross and subtle spheres, the souls work with full consciousness through the media of the mind, gross and subtle organs. While in the mental sphere, the soul works with full consciousness through the mind itself without necessarily using the gross and subtle organs. If the room is dark, the constant feeling and repeating of darkness will not take it away, but bring in the light. Let us know that all that is negative all that is destructive is bound to pass away. It is the positive, the affirmative, the constructive, that is immortal, and that will remain forever.....

-Swami Vivekananda.

Satsang A meaningful Touch

A meaningful Touch

During the war, a boy was brought into the hospital badly wounded। Word was sent to the mother that the boy was dying. She came to the hospital and begged to see him, but the doctors said that he was just hovering between life and death and that the slightest excitement might kill him. Besides, he was unconscious and would not know her. She promised that she would not speak to him or make the slightest noise, but begged to sit by the side of his bed and be with him. The doctor relented and gave permission for her to sit there without a word. She sat by her boy with her heart bursting. His eyes were closed. She gently put her hand upon his brow. Without opening his eyes the boy whispered. 'Mother, you have come. ?The touch of that mother's hand was self-verifying to the boy. Did you have any such experience from your mother, father, brother, sister or friend?

Satsang BABA CONFERS POWERS ON SOME OF His DEVOTEES

By R. Seshadri

Kasinath Sastri was born in a poor purohit's family in a tiny Maharashtra town. He evinced no interest in education. Considered as a good for nothing lad by not only his family but the other village folk also, he tried to eke out a living later by learning Ayurveda and started dispensing medicines to patients. Years later, he became Upasani Maharaj with yogic powers and a large following of devotees in the country. It was Sai Baba of Shirdi who brought about this great transformation. Even today Baba is helping his devotees through some of his chosen ?bhaktas' by confirming on them curative and other powers. In this context, Sai devotees should guard against pseudo saints proclaiming His name to serve their personal interests.

In a brief account of an literate rustic woman, who has been blessed by Sainath Maharaj with predictive and curative powers. Eighty three-old Mullayamma of Mulangudi village of Thanjavur District (Tamil Nadu) lives along with her only son, Periasami, in a hut a precarious life. Hearing about her from friends, a pious sadhaka took me to her some months back. Baba's portrait and meager pooja materials greet those who get into her hut. (1C, Yanaiyadi Street, Melacauvery, Kumbakonam-612 002 Tamil Nadu).
After formal introduction, Mullaiammal, holding a silver paper on her right palm, started giving details about me. She also said that I was frequenting a Sai Shrine at my place and three deities are worshipped there. She was able to describe the location and other details of Sri Sai Spiritual Centre at Bangalore.
When I asked her about the health of my friend's wife, she immediately pointed out her malady. When asked how she gained these powers, she and her son, Periasami, gave the following account. Even as a five-year old she had experienced unusual visions. When she was ten, she was blessed by Kanchi Paramacharya, who gave her some herbs as prasad. She was able to identify lost articles and where they could be found, by starting at the mud floor of her hut.
At this time, during her sleep at night, she started hearing Shirdi Sai Baba asking her to gaze at her own palm. Though she ignored the call in the beginning, after persistent instructions from Baba, she was thrilled to find Baba's image on her palm. Then she surrendered to Baba, who has been responding to her queries whenever people approach her with their problems. She claims to have diagnosed major maladies and had also successfully prescribed remedies. She even gives details of her astral flights by Baba's grace. She speaks Tamil only. With all this, hers is a hand-to-mouth existence. She gratefully accepts money being offered by her visitors to keep the pot boiling.

WHEN I SAW SAI...

When I Saw Sai...
By: Hebbar

He had come into my life through different means, many a times. Then, I was naive and did not know the deeper meaning hidden in them. Today when I look back I understand that all was in divine plan.

It all began years ago, my sister found her strength in Shirdi Sai. She was His ardent devotee and so I was surrounded by His books, stories, et al. Nothing of this however, stirred 'that' chord in me. Then one day He came into my house, when a friend visiting Shirdi gifted me His idol. I placed Him in my prayer room with the other God's idols. Life went on....

During one of my regular TV channel surfings I chanced upon a serial based on the life of Shirdi Sai Baba. I saw it for a few minutes and went back to surfing. After a week, again I came across the same serial, which of course I saw for a few minutes and moved on. This happened for a while and I gradually started watching the serial for longer. Finally there came a day when I became a regular viewer of the serial.

Throughout the time of the serial, I was glued to the TV. I felt as if I was receiving answers to many complex questions of life. Somehow it made perfect sense and sat well on the situations and problems in my life. Was it just a coincidence or was there something more to it? I thought the latter. Days rolled by and one evening when I was watching the serial, I felt that Baba was asking me to visit Shirdi. I ignored the call and continued with my life. Six weeks later when I was watching the serial again, I heard Baba say "I asked you to come to Shirdi and you are ignoring me." It was a wake up call for me and I decided to leave to Shirdi immediately.

I decided to visit the Sai Baba temple in town at the earliest. Couple of days later as I was stepping into the temple, I saw the flower placed on Baba fall on the ground. I thought it was a good omen and I asked Baba to make my trip to Shirdi comfortable. I then remembered what people had said very often, "only if Baba wills, can you step on the soil of Shirdi."

As the queue was moving, I was going closer to Baba. I was just near him when all of a sudden, people in front of me made way

That evening I informed my parents about my plan to visit Shirdi and they immediately said that they knew a person who could be of help in Shirdi.

Finally I was on my way to Shirdi not knowing what to expect. I was not sure why Baba had repeatedly asked me to come to Shirdi. The bus journey of over 21 hours was comfortable and I reached Shirdi.

The man known to my parents had taken care of everything, including my stay, food and VIP darshan. This I took as a welcome sign from Him, for without His will no one could step on the soil of Shirdi.

On a bright very hot day, I stepped on the soil of Shirdi and that moment will remain etched in my memory forever. Everything taken care, I went into the temple for the darshan. For those who don't know, thousands of devotees throng the temple and for a darshan you would have to wait in queue for long hours. I however had a VIP pass and so went in easily. Sai in all his splendour had adorned his throne in the temple. It is an overwhelming experience which cannot be expressed in words.

Since there is a huge crowd of devotees, you get less than two seconds to see Him from close. As the queue was moving, I was going closer to Baba. I was just near him when all of a sudden, people in front of me made way and I stood there close to Baba uninterrupted, for long. This was an unusually long period than what one usually gets. Thrilled I was that I had finally made it. With joy in my heart I left the temple premises.

BABA'S ALL PERVASIVENESS...

............ . Baba’s All Pervasiveness

Baba had become one with every being in the world. Hence the service of any creature ultimately reached Baba.
A lady lived in Shirdi and would daily bake two breads- one for Baba and another for herself. One day she was taking the bread for Baba when a dog approached her, licking its lips in hunger. Instantly, by some inner urge, she offered the bread to the dog. She went back and started again to take the other bread for Baba. Now a pig approached her and she offered him that bread too. Then she realized that she had nothing to give to Baba, she felt intensely sorry and mentally asked Baba’s pardon. Later, she went to Baba and sat down with folded hands. Immediately Baba said, “Ma, today you offered me bread twice so that was doubly satisfied.” The lady thought Baba was taunting her for not giving him anything. Remorsefully she cried, ”Baba today I had nothing left with me. So what could I bring for you? Baba replied “Ma you offered one bread to a dog and another to a pig. They both reached me, because I am one with them.

Once a lizard, perch on a wall in the Dwarkamai, began chirping vigorously. This considered to be an ill-omen. So a devotee asked Baba what evil it portended. Baba said, “ There is no evil portend in this. The lizard’s sister will presently come here from Aurangabad to meet her. So she is singing in joy.
”Everyone thought that Baba was joking". As was his won't. But very soon a bhakta arrived from Aurangabad for Baba’s darshan. As he opened his sack, a lizard jumped out. Straightaway she scaled the wall and embraced her ‘sister’. Their gesticulations definitely showed that they were overjoyed to meat each other. How could Baba know all this before hand? All were convinced that the two lizards were sisters.

A darvesh had tamed a tiger that used to do certain tricks and thus maintain himself and his master. As the tiger grew old, he could no longer play tricks. Naturally, he and his master both had to face starvation. Ultimately, the tiger became mad and uncontrollable.
As he was approaching his end, the darvesh brought him to Baba for his last grace. Baba asked the darvesh to release the animal whom at once became quiet. Approaching Baba he prostrated himself at Baba ‘s feet and as Baba was stroking his back, the tiger opened his jaw and breathed his last. Baba said,”This was a great bhakta of Lord Shiva. He has gone to Kailasa. Now bury his mortal remains in front of Shiva.”

Satsang SAI BABA PRESIDES OVER CONFERENCE OF MASTERS

SAI BABA PRESIDES OVER CONFERENCE OF MASTERS
By Bhau Kalchuri

I am lost in the rapture of the song that sings of my immortal Beloved
His sweet name stills my mind striking within unstuck chords that
waken hidden cadences. I hear celestial melodies And through my being
runs A nectar-a bliss unsurpassing. Am on the crest of a divine
perfection Feeling: "am one, I am all."

Late Shi Sadashiv Govind Shelke Patil was the chief of the fisherman
community at KasbaPeth. He was very close to Upasani Maharaj in his
love and devotion. He was one of those whom Upasani Maharaj advised to
follow Meher Baba. The following incident was narrated by Patil which
happened in 1919, after Baba's Mahasamadhi.

Upasani Maharaj asked Patil to go to Benares along with Merwan (Meher
Baba then known), with instructions to acquire a place for their stay
and to collect articles required for a great yagna (sacrifice) he
wished to perform. The Maharaj also told Patil that it was going to be
a conference of all Masters of the Spiritual Realm, which would be
presided over by Sai Baba. Patil felt funny when he heard this and
expressed surprise, because Sai Baba had already left his body on 16
October, 1918. Sensing this, the Maharaj said, "Do as I say, and don't
worry. You will not understand this". A perfect Master's words and
actions are often clothed in mystery, because God's ways of
functioning in the affairs of all men and creatures are hidden. When
Patil enquired as to how the Maharaj would come to Benares, he simply
said that he would be found at a certain place near the Railway
Bridge. And there he was!

Patil and Merwan traveled by train and reached Benares, hired a place
as instructed by the Maharaj and placed their luggage.

Preparations began for the performance of the Mahayagna - great
sacrificial offerings to the Fire God. A large number of Brahmin
Pundits chanting Vedic hymns under a spacious mandap, throwing grains
and various other articles into the fire. Sai Baba's photo was placed
prominently garlanded at the centre of the large mandap. When Patil
saw this spectacle, with Sai Baba's photo in the centre, he realized
what Upasani Maharaj meant when he told him that Sai Baba would preside.

Merwan and Patil would go to the market daily and purchase all that
was required for the meals for a large number of people gathered for
the occasion. Meals were specially prepared by Brahmins under the
supervision of Merwan and Patil, who were in charge of the food
arrangement.

The great sacrificial fire burned continually for eleven days and on
the twelfth day a feast in honor of the Brahmins was held. Over ten
thousand Brahmins had gathered and food for all of them was ready by
noon. But when the Brahmins sat down under the large mandap for their
meal and saw the large photo of Sai Baba, some raised an uproar
exclaiming, "We cannot join in the feast of a Muslim! Sai Baba was a
Muslim!"

Upasani Maharaj who was of Brahmin descent, advised them to forget
their religious prejudices and opinions and to partake of the food. He
explained to them that Sai Baba was a Perfect Master and thus above
religious distinctions.

Upasani Maharaj could not persuade the Brahmins to share in the feast
and He refused to take the painting of Sai Baba down. At last Upasani
Maharaj instructed all of his devotees, who were present in the
gathering to go to the banks of the Ganges River and to strike drums
to call for the poor to gather there. Merwan and Sadashiv joined by
Upasani Maharaja's several hundred devotees served the food to the
poor who gathered. Although nearly fifteen thousand poor people were
fed, there was a considerable amount of food left over, Upasani
Maharaj then directed, "Throw the remaining food into the river! This
greatly shocked the Hindu priests who saw bucket after bucket being
flung into the river. They then approached Upasani Maharaj and begged
for his pardon saying, "Great one, we are now ready to partake of the
food. Do not waste the food - forgive us."

Sadguru Upasani Maharaj angrily retorted," You call yourselves the
pundits of Kashi! What can I say about you priests? There is nothing
in Kashi for you and there is no food left either! I forgive you, but
you will not partake of the feast. He, Sai Baba, whom you call a
Muslim, is the real Pundit!" Upasani Maharaj then angrily sent the
priests away and bade his seven hundred follower's farewell.
