Satsang Sri Sai Amrit Vani

Satsang Sri Sai Amrit Vani

Sri Sai Amrit Vani
21st Dec 2006

Jai Sai Ram
Sab Ka Malik Ek, Baba has clearly
indicated it again and again, Once again Baba has
indicated this today.
On this coming Christmas, Baba has made a cross on

His photo with Udi. On one photo there were Om, Cross
and the word Ram, formed with Udi. Today I am
appending some photos depicting the Leela today.
Photos can describe much more than the words.

Following devotees, participated in
absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani by
reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places. The list
is sorted as per their email id’s. However Mrs. Gupta
prayed for all the devotees. We include only those
devotees in the list, who themselves recite or read
Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places. The names of the
devotees “for prayer”, are prayed for, but not
included in the list. Kindly mention clearly, against
each devotee’s name that he/she will recite or read or
listen to Sri Sai Amrit Vani, or only for prayers, If
no mention of it is made in the letter, then it will
be presumed that the names are only for prayer and
will not be included in the list. Please also give
the name of the place.

This Thursday the 21st Dec , we were able
to see the following Leelas of Baba.

1. Udi started oozing from Monday the 18th Dec. from
all the photos of Baba on the walls and in the mandir
room. It also started oozing from the Statue of Baba
and from the main Photo in the mandir from this day.
The words OM, Ram and Shyam appeared lightly on
the main photo in the mandir and the big photo on the
wall, which became dark by Tuesday.
2. On one photo, which had swastic, om, ek-onkar etc
on earlier occasion as per the occasion had one om and
the word RAM in Hindi with Udi along with a cross on
it, in view of the coming Christmass.
3. There was a lot of Water from the Charans this week
also. This water was collected in the Thali. The
taste of water was similar to gulab jal and
Kewara-Kesar. After Sai Amrit Vani, this water was
given to the devotees. Many devotees brought small
bottles with them and took this holy water home also.
Water was taken out many times and every time thali
was again filled up.
4. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with lots of Udi
during the prayers. Her hands were also filled with
Udi. Udi also appeared other devotees also. Sai Amrit
Vani books of many devotees had the Udi.
5. The presence of Baba during the Sai Amrit Vani
was very strong and many devotees felt it during the
recitation of Sai Amrit Vani in different ways. Sri
Sai Amrit Vani was very peaceful, soothing with
purifying influence.
6. On Thursday as soon as Bhog was offered, it was
duly accepted by Baba and after the Sri Sai Amrit
Vani we noticed that the box, which was placed
before HIM was with partly eaten pieces and only
partly remained pieces and some engraved pieces of
items were there in the box, Ladoo Basen was eaten in
big portion. Kachori was almost half. A figure of face
was formed on burfee. Much portion of Samosa was
missing. Part of Bhog was on the lips of many photos
and statue of Baba. Part pieces of the remains in the
box were given to the devotees who offered that item
of bhog to Baba.
7. All the boxes of Bhog which were kept on the table
were blessed with lots of Udi . Udi was collected on
the papers by the devotees.
8. The Charnamrit, the water in which Baba took the
bath in the morning was also sweet as if some honey
has been mixed into it.
9. Documents, kept in the mandir room were blessed
with lots of Udi.

Jai Sai Ram

Sri Sai Amrit Vani started at 11:04 AM. Noon

Satsang DEVOTEE'S EXPERIENCE

DEVOTEE'S EXPERIENCE
The following experience has been narrated by Shri

Dajisaheb Awasthi of Pune which was published by
SABARI ASHRAM of Jhalod, Gujarat in their publication
"SHRI SAI BABA of Shirdi" in Gujarati. The under

mentioned extract has been translated in English and
is best described in Shri Awasthi's own words as under :-
"I was an advocate at Pune. When I was 28 in 1897, I

was introduced to a saint of a very high spiritual order.
The saint emphasised the existence of God and validated
the mantras being chanted for various Divinities of
GODHEAD. To me, the saint said, "Chant "Om Namo
Shivaya". He also predicted that the chanting of this
mantra of LORD SHIVA would have its remarkable
effects after 16 years.I commenced chanting this mantra.

I visited Pandharpur in 1910 where another saint whom I
met advised me to go to Shirdi and take SHRI SAI's
darshan and said that PANDHARINATH LORD VITHOBA
is there in the form of SHRI SAI. But, as fate would have
it, I was unable to visit Shirdi for three years.

In 1913,I finally made it to Shirdi and the moment I
climbed up the steps of the Dwarkamayi, I beheld the
form of LORD SHIVA in place of SAI BABA. Overcome
with emotion, I immediately prostrated at HIS feet when
seconds later as I looked up once again I saw SHRI SAI
as usual, BABA blessed me and said, "Allah Malik Hai"
and told me to stay at Radhakrishna Ayi's house.
Radhakrishna Ayi's devotion to the LORD was so deep

and sincere that I revered her and treated her as my divine
Mother and she reciprocated by her motherly care and
affection towards me. After staying a few days, I left
Shirdi for Pune but could not forget BABA and Ayi. For
four years thereafter, I regularly worshipped them in my
house. One day as I completed my puja, the room was
suddenly filled with a wonderful rose fragrance for at least
an hour after which it subsided. Unable to solve the
mystery about this strange phenomenon, I made
enquiries around my house but in vain. Three or four
days after this incident, I received a letter from Abdul
Bhai and Wamanrao Patel (Swami SAI SHARANANAND)
from Shirdi that Ayi had passed away, the date and time

of which perfectly coincided with the rose fragrance that
filled my room.

A few months after this episode, I visited Shirdi again on
Akshay Tritiya 1918 accompanied by my wife. After taking
BABA's darshan, I put up at Ayi's house on BABA's
instruction. My wife began to make preparations for
BABA's Naivedya but try as she would, she could not
light the charcoal stove. Wondering what to do, she was
astonished to see Radhakrishna Ayi descend down the
stairs from the attic and helped her in lighting the stove
and also in assisting her for preparing naivedya . That
done, Ayi climbed back to the attic. At noon, when my
wife waited for Ayi to come down and join us for
meals, she did not and thinking that she may be engaged

in some work, my wife personally went up to call her but
found the attic locked. Rather puzzled, she hurried down
and made inquiries with two or three neighbours from
whom she learnt that Ayi had attained samadhi a few
months ago. She was shocked with disbelief.

The veil of Maya was so strong that my wife failed to
recollect that Ayi was no more and that a letter in this
regard had also been received by us from Shirdi.

If devotees of Baba like Ayi who were blessed by HIM
could be so powerful as to appear even after shedding
their mortal coil and render timely assistance to HIS
devotees, what to talk of SHRI SAMARTH SAINATH
who was Parabrahma Incarnate. Can anyone fathom
HIS powers and leelas?

Satsang GURU BHAKTI by H.Venkat Rao

GURU BHAKTI
by
H. Venkat Rao, L.M. & S-, Dental Surgeon Madras.
Guru-Brahma Guru Vishnu Gurudeva Maheswarah

Guru Sakshat Para Brahmah Taswai
Shri Gurave Namah
Solutions be to prosperity-raining Guru, who is

(equal to) Brahma, Vishnu
and Maheswara and is in fact para Brahmah.

Who and why for is a Guru?

All great religions believe in God and most of them
consider that the whole universe consists of three
non-created and self existent principles -
Matters, Soul, and God, and that religion begins with

these Souls and ends in our seeking what their
destiny is and how best to attain it. Since the senses
and sense-objects are are placed outside the Soul,
the natural inclination and goal of the Soul is to go
outside to matter and hence think and aspire after
the happiness-though transitory and mixed with (its
opposite) sorrow - of the senses. Since the Soul

identifies itself with the senses, the mind and the
body, it becomes miserable, for sense happiness is
only a mirage and Soul forgets its eternal nature and

perfect happiness. Hence the current of action of the
Soul has to be - for its own good and object of life-
directed towards God by a process of correct
discrimination and with a strong and infallible force
in the shape of guidance by a perfect Soul with God
immanent who is to be requisitioned, sought, won
over and abided by all who seek the eternal goal of
life. Such aperson is called a "GURU".

God speaks through Guru
As you sow so you reap. As you think, so you become.

If the disciple sincerely seeks, worship and honestly
considers a proper Guru as God Parabrahman, God
through Guru helps him to easily fight the'Battle of Life"
and work out salvation for his Soul. One's own mother,

father, and husband come under the same category of
Guru-deva. God does not manifest Himself perceptible
to the physical eye in this materialistic age but easily
manifests Himself in and uses the Guru as a

mouthpiece to guide the devout disciple. It is un uphill
work if not impossible, for all to obtain God's vision by
Raja yoga. The easier path to all is to get hold of a
proper Guru, and with sincere devotion, love and
adoration of the Guru, the human embodiment of God,
the disciple, children and dutiful wife can work out their
Life's destiny with God's intuition and illumination through
the Guru. Again the weather beaten and experienced
individual Guru will be better stationed to help the devotee
to stear clear of tempestuous sea of Life. Hence the
disciple should have the"gtve and take policy", have
Gurubhakti, adoration and implicit faith in Guru and by
exchange receive selfless love, kind heartedness and
proper helpfrom the Guru.
Hindu codes obtain that the disciple should apprentice

himself to and do even manual labour to the Guru and
His family for some time before being initiated as a
disciple. This Karma yoga complete surrender to the
Guru - to become slave as it were - purifies the mind
and character of the disciple and reacts on the Guru
to feel completely attached to his disciple and plant
Jnana andBhakthiyogas in the worthy soil.

Satsang Greetings from Saibanisa-Saidarbar

Dear Saibandhus,
We are all united with our minds and souls directed

towards our Samardha Saddhguru-Lord Sainath of
Shiridi. `Baba' as we address HIM fondly is never
tired of looking at us and guarding us every moment
we live in. WE are all fortunate to be in HIS fold.

To give a preamble, Baba appeared in my dream on
24th Dec, 1998, and advised me to cut the `Spiritual
cake and distribute to the World'. Little did I realize
what the instructions meant to me when Internet was
just making its presence felt in India. But Baba had in
mind as destined to happen and thus www.saidarbar.org
was born to serve the needy and spiritually starving ones,
living miles and miles away from the homeland to take a
time off from the mundane affairs.

On 25th December, 2006, `Saidarbar' will be celebrating
the Ninth Birthday and `Glory of Shiridi Sai'-e-magazine
the Fifth anniversary on 1st Jan, 2007. Saidarbar team is
dedicated in the service of Lord SAI and we are extremely
grateful to the continued and encouraging support received
from the Sai devotees spread all over the World.

We pledge to continue to render the same service in the
coming future too.
With divine blessings from Lord Sainath of Shiridi.

We wish all our Saibandhus and their families "A very
Happy, Prosperous and eventful NEW YEAR-2007".

Satsang SRI SAI BABA - Method of Instruction by B.V.Narasimha Swami

(contd....)
One peculiarity characteristic of Baba and other saints
and sages is the employment of riddle and symbology
to rouse curiosity and fix the resultant discovery of
Truth, deep and firm in the hearts' mind. When
Anantha Rao Patankar complained to Baba that, with
all his wide study of the sastras, peace of mind had
not been attained by him, Baba's answer was "Once
a merchant came here. In his presence a quadruped
passed its stomata i.e. nine balls of stool. The
merchant anxious to attain his quest spread his
cloth beneath its tail, gathered all the nine balls
and took them away. He got concentration {and
peace of mind)". Patankar discovered that Baba
directed him to "navavidha Bhakti." i.e. the nine
forms of devotion and adopted the same as his
means for attaining peace.

When a Sub-Judge had been convicted and sentenced
to imprisonment for corruption and came to Baba for
his help in his criminal appeal, Baba said "Sow
margosa and reap margosa." The Sub-Judge could
not understand His advice. But it is a patent reference
to the Law of Karma which had brought on its early
results in the case of the sub-judge who was thus
advised to make up his mind to bravely and joyously
suffer the results of his own action so as to start his
account with a dean sheet for the next course.

To a man who had brought Custard apples (Seetha
Phal) as presents, Baba said Gnana (Marga) is
Ramphal. Bhakti Marga is Seetha Phal. Seetha phal
has its pulp almost on the surface and is easy to
get at. The surface of Ramphal is harder and the
pulp is not easy to get at. Ramphal should ripen
and be plucked on the tree, for if it falls down it is
spoiled. So if a Gnani falls, he is ruined.

To Hari Seetha Ram Dixit who had during his
morning contemplation a transient appearance
(Sakshatkara) of Vittal and who went to Baba to
get an assurance as to its significance, Baba said
at once, "Kaka did not Vittal Patil come? Have
you not seen him? That Vittal is very elusive. Tie
Him fast. If by inadvertence you lose sight of Him,
He will vanish in a second." Thus Baba confirmed
Kaka's idea that it was Vittal Pandarinath that had
vouchsafed to him a momentary glimpse of Himself,
but added that such sakshatkaras are very transient
and have to be frequently sought and kept before the
mind to make God a permanent possession: that is,
to become the Ever-lasting One into which one has
to merge, without any further return.

Satsang SRI SAI BABA - Method of Instruction by B.V.Narasimha Swami

SRI SAI BABA
Baba's Method of Instruction
by Sri B. V. Narasimhaswami

Before proceeding to deal with Baba's method of
instruction, it is just as well to remind readers that the
role of the Samartha Sadguru, which Baba took on
Himself, was not the narrow one which teachers even
of divinity ordinarily take upon themselves. People
dealing with Baba dealt with Him as the All-Mother,
the All-Provider and their All-in-all, Said Krishna.
"Pitaha masya Jagatah Mata Dhata Prtamahah:*

And accordingly the devotees assume Baba in their
daily address to Him that He is their Mother, Father,
Krishna, Friend, Wisdom, Wealth,-their everything.

Twameva Mata Pita twameva
Twameva Bandhu Sakha twameva
Twameva Vidya Dyavinam twameva
Twameva sarvam mama Devadeva

To the devotees, Baba was not a mere human Guru.
He was God incarnate. In fact many of them had no
other conception of God except their idea of Baba.
And Baba developed this faith in them to enable
them vividly to realise God and their own self to the
fullest extent, in accordance with the last stanza
in "Swetaswatara Upanishad".
Yasya deve Para Bhaktih
Yatha deve thatha Gurow
Tasyaithe Kathithayartha prakasanihe mahatmanah

Naturally every word, every gesture, and every pose
of Baba and all acts and omissions of his -especially
his chamatkaras, i.e., his wonderful feats, were full
of instruction and educative value to them. His very
image in their hearts was the most powerful means
for their being raised higher and higher, till they
should attain equality, nay identity with him. This
course would ordinarily cover numerous janmas or
birth. But, as Baba assured many, there is no reason
whatever why each of them, or at least many of them,
should not endeavour to attain perfection even in this
single life.

Baba's method of dealing with individuals varied with
their capacity or the stage which they had reached,
as the influence He exerted was to raise them to the
next immediate higher stage, curing defects present
and calling for immediate attention, and the advice
and help given to one would be found to be totally
different from, nay, some times even inconsistent
with, that given to another. That is why the Rao
Bahadur S..B. Dhumal told the District Magistrate
who inquired what Baba's teachings were, that he
(the Magistrate) should himself go in person to
Baba and learn the same.

Satsang SRI SAI BABA HIS RACE, CASTE AND CREED - by B. V. Narasimhaswami

SRI SAI BABA HIS RACE, CASTE AND CREEDby B. V. NarasimhaswamiPrejudice and sentiments die hard. Even the great
Adi Sankara Acharya ordered a Harijan who came
near Him at Kasi to "go away". The Harijan thenrequested the Acharya to explain whether his
objection was to one earthly body approaching
another or whether he wanted the Atman in the one
to go away from the Atman in the other. The Acharya
perceiving that a great Janana in the form of that
Harijan had come to rebuke his prejudices declared
that even a Harijan with Janana was his revered
Sadguru. Sai Baba never considered any caste or
species as capable of polluting HIM even by touch.
Finding a poor harijan ready to leave Shirdi. Baba
put his arm round his neck and tried to stop him.
Differences of caste can have no place in the heartof one whose Atmic realisation was evident by his
morning Dhyana on the basis of "An at hag" "Maim
Allah hum" which are the equivalents of "AhamBrahma Asmi".

Baba was regularly demolishing the idea of difference
(in all other matters also) which fettered the advance
of his Sadhaka devotee. 'It is a popular fallacy that we
are different from each other and that our properties
are separate. This is an error. You are I, I am you.
Knock down this Telis wall. Then we see each dearly
face to face (i.e., as being the same Atman)" "Inquire
into all the scriptures; and see if the Atman is one of
many". It is the sad irony of fate that of a Baba who
spoke thus and lived thus yet some people still
anxiously explore the parentage to discover his caste.

One can easily understand the deserved who worship
images or other objects to avoid the control of
iconoclasts, and generally, Mahomedanism is identified
with iconoclasticism. But of Baba, it is well known that
HE objected to the conversion of any one from his
religion to any other religion, that He bade his visitors
stick not only to their own religion but also to their
sampradaya, their guru, their mantra, their observances,
their scruples, their images, and objects of worship
and that HE actually insisted on His devotees visiting
the temples and images that they usually visited for
worship and that HE presented to some a lingam and
to some padukas, coins, and pictures for worship. He
expressly told His devotees that though Nirakara
worship was praise worthy, yet as a concession to
the weakness of the vast majority to whom Nirakara
worship is an impossibility, any customary object
might be used for worship and meditation-including
Baba's own physical form for those who found that
most suitable.

Thousands have found that Baba answers in his
Sookshma for (as Apantaratma or as Parmatma)
prayers earnestly addressed to Him for temporal
and spiritual welfare. And still the question is raised,
"is HE a Hindu or Moslem?" In the words of the late
Rao Bahadur S. B. Dhumal in reply to an European
Dt. Magistrate who raised this question about 1910,
we may well answer: "Sai Baba is neitherthe one,
nor the other. Hs is above both."

Sai Baba repeatedly declared that he was not the eight
span body-the I was the Antaratma in all creatures.

Satsang Destiny-Baba's Distribution

Destiny-Baba's Distribution
By Prahlad Hnlyaikar
The Lord has no favorites; He loves all equally. The sun

shines the same on fire charcoal and on the diamond,
but the diamond receives and reflects the light. Most
persons have “charcoal” mentalities; that is why they
think that God does not bless them. The love and
blessings are there; man has only to receive them.
- Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji

It was the year 1980. The Dipavali Holidays had begun.
Sri Jai Rao (son-in-law of late Kishor Sahu) started
visiting us frequently. He used to attend Arathi session
in the evening and then go home to Vasco. On one
Friday, during Aarati session, my wife saw some

events taking place in the space, close to Baba's
Murthi. She saw that Sri Rao had fallen down from
his Motor Cycle and his head was sprayed with a
white powder. On the same night Baba appeared in
her dream and said, "Your Rao has fallen down and
broken his hand. Do not worry much, it is predestined,
but I am distributing the quantum of suffering". My
wife woke up suddenly and narrated the strange
dream to me. I told her that it was a dream and not

to worry.

On Saturday Jai Rao came to Calangule in the morning.
He talked to me on different subjects. As it was noon,
we sat for lunch. A boy named Bhanudas (Noti)
happened to come to take Baba's Darshan. He is my
neighbor and is a motor cycle pilot. My wife said to
Rao, as she was serving "Noti is a real devotee of
Sai Baba. He always helps those who are in difficulty."
Shree Jai Rao exchanged greetings with him. Noti
went home. The evening Aarati session was over and
then Rao also left.

As Rao was leaving my wife cautioned him and advised
him to go slow. Rao said, "Bai. I have been riding a
motorcycle even in States. I am a seasoned driver.
Your fears are baseless." My wife said to him. "Rao,
nobody can escape destiny. Devotion to God mitigates
the intensity less suffering". Rao said jokingly, “I do
not understand the philosophy the destiny. Nothing is
going to happen to me. You will see me tomorrow

perfectly safe". Rao reached Vasco safely that night.
On Monday Rao came as usual. He had lunch with
us. He had his meal and then decided lo go to Vasco
at 5 p.m. My wife insisted he should stay and go to
Vasco the next day. Rao said, he could not stay as
his wife was waiting for him. Rao left Calangule at

5.10 PM At 5.45 PM he dashed against a cycle rider
at a place called Agashi. The cycle rider was carrying
wheat flour. The cycle was badly damaged but the
rider escaped unhurt. Rao fell down on his face and
the whole flour was sprayed all over his body.

The lamp was damaged, his spectacles were broken
to pieces and Rao got an injury to his left hand.
People gathered. Rao could not get up. Just at the
moment Noli was coming from Vasco to Calangute,

He saw the crowd on the road. He slopped his
vehicle to find out who was injured. He could not
believe it - it was the same person Rao, who had

exchanged greetings with him in my house, two
days back. Noli lifted Rao and took him to a clinic.
After first aid, he took him to Vasco in a private car.

Noli came to us and reported what had happened.
At the same time when Rao fell down at Agashi a
big bee stung a fingered my wife and her hand
started swelling. She said tome "Rao has fallen
down, Baba hesitated his distribution. Let us
accept it. One Mr.Lucio Miranda. (Rao's close
friend) was in Bombay when the incident took
place. On the same day and at the same time,
some goondas attacked him near Strand Cinema
and forcibly pulled off his wrist-watch causing an
injury to his left hand. On the next day we all
went to Vasco to see Rao. There he got a phone

message from Lucio about his encounter with
goondas. Rao greeted us with one hand and
said to my wife,
"Bai, put a little Udi on my hand".

This incident profoundly speaks that we are all
inter-related. Destiny is not absolute. We are
brothers and sisters in Sai family. We all have
to share pleasure and pain without any
compliant. This is Baba’s Spiritual Communism,
or calls it Socialism.

FEATURE OF THE WEEK: Sai Baba's Sacred

words to Abdul Abdul was amongst Sai Baba's
close devotees and lived with Sai Baba in Shirdi
for a continuous period of twenty nine years before
Sai Baba's Mahasamadhi and then remained in
Shirdi for a further thirty six years until his own
samadhi in 1954. Abdul wrote down some of
Sai Baba's utterances and explanations and over
the years these notes accumulated into a small
volume.
After Sai Baba's Mahasamadhi, this old notebook
manuscript became very precious to Abdul as he
made use of it, according to Sri Narasimhaswamy,
as a 'Book of Prophecy' through which Sai Baba's
message and guidance could be obtained.

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Marianne Warren, Abdul's
notes have been fully translated and published in her
book - "Unraveling the Enigma - Shirdi Sai Baba in
the Light of Sufism" published by Sterling Publishers,
India. In foreword to the book Dr. N.K.Wagle of
University of Toronto says: "Dr. Marianne Warren's
work is the first scholarly attempt to provide a
historical context to Sai Baba's teachings. An
equally original point argued convincingly by Dr.
Warren concerns Sai Baba's knowledge of Islamic
Theology.

Dr. Warren has translated the Saibaba manuscript in
which Sai Baba gave discourses on Islamic history
and thought to his pupil, Abdul, his personal attendant,
whose tomb rests near Sai Baba's shrine". For
Devotees who want to advance spiritually, and are
looking for gems to collect as Baba used to say, these
sayings are invaluable and should be taken as word
personally spoken to each one of us without any
prejudice, argument, discussion or controversy. Abdul's
notes on Sai Baba's teachings: Page 12: The religious
emotion is purely spiritual. Only secondarily it relates
to the material world. O Parvardigar! - Universal
Sustainer. O God! O Habib! - My Beloved! What we see
in this material state is not real because you cannot
understand it through the intellect or by inference.
Those who consider the spirit as without beginning,
this opinion is incorrect because thinking itself is
not permanent. And life is the real thing. The body is
subordinate to it... Page 14 : To understand the true
form of God is difficult. In the Qur'an, it is forbidden
to picture God with form. If you walk on the path of
righteousness, then you will not feel the need for it. It
requires great effort to walk on the path [of righteousness]
i.e. tapas. When a person practices taps (riyajat), divine
insight (ma'rifa) will automatically come. A sura from the
Qur'an says something to this effect, Ajjain jahidu fina
tabulana riyajat - He who performs tapas, I regard him
to be on the path. It would not be proper to give him full
knowledge about it. But before you proceed on the path
of Allah, you must discipline the mind. It is strategic to
strengthen the defenses, with fortifications. If an army
does not move how can the war of righteousness be
fought. O dear friend! Know this that the body is the
kingdom of the heart. Do not think that the heart has
many armies. The Qur'an says: Maya alam rabbuk
janud ilahu - The army of Allah, do not think that it
has to besiege the mind/heart. The heart is created
for the realization of God. To find the way to attaining
a vision of God is a man's true task. For the vision of
God, divine sight is necessary.

FEATURE OF THE WEEK: continued.....
Page 20: [Similar to page 12 but longer and written

at a different time] Religious emotion in full is purely
spiritual. It is not material. Secondly it means that
you will see the world as material or only relatively
real (until you have a vision of God). Parvardigar!
O Dear One!., O Dear One! the material (relative
state) world is unreal. There is no place for intellect
and inference. Those who regard the spirit as without
beginning, this is not true. It is wrong to address the
spirit because it is dependent on others. The real form
of man is prana - life force. The body is under the
control of prana. The people who equate the spirit
with the body are wrong. The body is impermanent.
Animals also have a spirit, which is also impermanent,
called dil or heart, which seeks the mercy of God.

CONTRIBUTED ARTICLE: Baba's mission
The term "Mission" is derived from the Latin "Mitto"

meaning "to send". So, a missionary is the one who is
sent with a message or direction. As used in the
Christian literature, a mission was the most valuable
characteristic of the lives of such great Prophets as
Moses, Jesus, and others. Jesus' mission was by His
own death to absolve mankind from hereditary or original
sin, that is, the sin derived by being the descendents
of the first sinners, Adam and Eve.
His death was considered as a sacrifice on behalf of
entire humanity. Others' mission, for example, Moses'
was to lead the Jews from captivity in Egypt on towards
the Promised Land. The idea of a missionary is
practically that of an agent. In the case of Sai Baba,
he declared, "God has agents everywhere, they have
great powers". Baba added, "I also have great powers",
implying thereby that he was also an agent of God. He
also expressly told D.S. Rasane, "I can do nothing
except when God orders". He did not give a kupni to
G.G. Narke saying, "The Fakir (God) has not permitted
me to give you a kupni", i.e., the rope of a sanyasi or
begging fakir, as G.G. Narke was to be a family man,
an earning Grihastha, according to God's plan and not
a beggar. As an agent, he said that he had vast powers.
The powers and the mission have a close relation. The
mission has to be worked through the powers given
and the powers are given only for carrying out the
mission. Baba had by concentration on God practically
every siddhi (Great Power) that one can think of.
Srimad Bhagavadgeetha says, "What power is there
that can not be got by concentration on God with
conquest or control of mind and senses and breath?"
Baba's vast powers were always utilized for the

benefit of mankind, promoting individual benefits that
were obvious, seen, and well understood, and general
benefits which were not so equally obvious or well
seen and understood. We have to consider the
mission of Baba based on the possession of His
powers and notice what general benefits were
conferred on the country or mankind, though these
are not yet obvious to most people.

problem and move on into the spiritual journey.

Baba, see that I have a good job and a better pay
so that I can save some for the kid's future. I am
really lost, please show me a way. You are the
only one.

EXPERIENCE OF DEVOTEES:

Srinivas
I want to share some of my experiences where Baba

has come to my rescue. I had an accident a few years
back whereby I had a fracture in both my hands. After
a lot of pain and time, and physiotherapy, I got healed
and started to live as normal. But within three months
of this accident, I again met with an accident. This
time I was hit by a truck from behind while I was riding
my bike. I fell down and felt that the truck would go
over me. In that instant, I just remembered Baba and
prayed him earnestly to save me. It all happened in a
flash, the accident, the prayer and I could see the truck
go beside me damaging my bike and I escaped with a
few bruises. I believe it is because of Baba, I am alive
today. Thank you Sai.

Roy
Sai has helped me in more ways than one. I had prayed

that I will post my experiences if they come true. I had
started Sai Satcharita Parayan on Thursday and got an
interview call the very next day. Though the final offer
came almost twenty days later, I got the confirmation
on Thursday. This was the much-needed break for my
career for which I am extremely grateful to Sai. Also, I
believe Sai was instrumental in getting my sister-in-law
married. She was over 30 and was facing huge problems
in her marriage. It seemed like a distant possibility,
because of which there were immense problems at home.
I faced so much mental agony even during my pregnancy
and would cry regularly to Sai. It was then that we met a
Divine Soul who helped us sail through our problems. I
would like to thank Sai for standing by us and I pray
that he help me get closer and closer to Him.

Sreenath
This happened when I was in USA. It was April 2006. I

was looking for a suitable job in Salt Lake City in Utah State.
One day, I received an e-mail from an Operations & Trading
Manager of an Investing Company based in New York. The
Manager said in his e-mail this is a part-time job which
involves wire transfer of funds from a Western Union location
in Salt Lake City to his agent in London. A few days later,
he sent a Bill Check for $3,744.00 by mail. I cashed it in
a Wells Fargo Bank. I wire transferred around $3,400.00
from a Western Union location in Salt Lake City to his
agent in London. Around June 1st week. I received my
Wells Fargo Bank Statement. It showed I had a Bank
Originated Debit of $3,744.00 on June 1, 2006 in my
Checking Account. This meant I owed $3,744.00 to
Wells Fargo Bank. I was shocked and disturbed. I didn't
have any savings to pay the debt nor was I having any
earnings. I prayed to Baba crying to help me come out
of this crisis. I swore to Baba that if he bails me out of
this crisis, I would publish my experience in Shri Shirdi
Sai Baba Sansthan's web site. Subsequently, I received
my Wells Fargo Bank Statement which showed I had a
balance of -$3,807.91 as on 07/26 in my Checking Account.
It also showed the closing balance on 08/01 was $0.00. I
was overwhelmed by Baba's greatness and thanked him
for bailing me out of this crisis.

Meera
With Baba's grace I have been able to get admission in LLM

in Canada. Not only did I get a Visa and flew from India on
Thursday but I also got a job along with on Thursday. Baba
takes good care of his devotees. In addition to these miracles,
when I arrived here I was desperately looking for a job. I
prayed to Him and He would constantly make me read
some pages of a book by Kher wherein devotees sacrifice
sweet food till such time that their wishes are fulfilled by
Baba. So that was a signal to me and I decided to quit
sweets till such time that I get a job and I decided once I
get to know about it, I would go to temple with halwa. It had
barely been a week and one night I dreamt that I am making
halwa with lots of almonds in it and next day I told my aunt
that I think I will get the job. It was Wednesday morning and
by the time I checked my email, it was late night and there
I see an email stating that I have been selected. Baba had
his own way of telling me that he would fulfill my wish.

Lakshmi
I have been looking for a job for nine months. Finally, I thought

that I will do sapthaham and pray to Baba. And lo and behold
I have started working from today! I had interviewed in many
places and always had problem finding a position - internal
promotion, job was removed, etc. I am so thankful to Sai.
Now please bless my husband the same way and bless us
with a son as well.

QUOTATION OF THE WEEK:
"Oh mother, My Guru never taught Me any Mantra, then how

shall I blow any Mantra in your ears? Just remember that
Guru's tortoise-like loving glance gives us happiness. Do not
try to get Mantra or Upadesh from anybody. Make Me the
sole object of your thoughts and actions; and you will, no
doubt, attain Paramartha (the spiritual goal of life). Look at
Me whole-heartedly, and I in turn look at you similarly"
-Saibaba to Mrs. Radhabhai Deshmukh

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Q. Baba said, "What is our duty? To behave properly.

That's enough!" Comment?
A. by Meera
Dwarkamayi is the place where Baba used to spend most of his

time. It is not relevant why he chose Masjid to be called
Dwarkamayi, we should look at the fact that 'Mayi' is added to
the word, signifying mother. This is the reason that whenever
a devotee would go to Shirdi, he/she would find peace in
Dwarkamayi as one finds in mother's lap as a child. We all
are Sai's children and by calling it Dwarkamayi he made it
clear that he would be there as a mother in Dwarkamayi. Some
people may draw irrelevant inferences that he chose masjid to
be called Dwarkamayi as he wanted to show superiority of
Hindu religion or to show his inclination towards Hindu
religion. But that is a myth to be broken. If he had lived in
temple, he would have offered his prayers like he did in Masjid.
For him and for his devotees, there is only one God. What is
important is that Dawrkamayi is the place where Baba would
appear like a mother to us. He would sit and talk to us, smile
at us, shower his love on us and he does that every time we
step in Dwarkamayi.
