Satsang How K.J.Bhishma Composed "Shri Sadguru Sainath Sagunopasana".

Satsang How K.J.Bhishma Composed "Shri Sadguru Sainath Sagunopasana".

Sai Baba’s remark had a strange effect on Bhishma. The distinction between
the Vaishnav sadhu of his dream and Sai Baba disappeared. He knowingly asked
the sevak for Sai Baba’s tirtha and placed his head on Sai Baba’s feet. Sai
Baba put his palm on Bhishma’s head for two full mintues. Bhishma went into
ecstacy. How could he describe the state of his mind except by saying like
Devnath in his famous composition “Gurukrupayka uhnjuna paya mera main janu”
. “The Guru’s Grace I have received I know it from Sai Baba’s feet. Sai Baba
put his palm on Bhishma’s head for two full mintues. Bhishma went into
ecstacy. How could he describe the state of his mind except by saying like
Devnath in his famous composition “Gurukrupayka uhnjuna paya mera main janu”
. “The Guru’s Grace I have received I know it for myself”.
Bhishma returned to his lodging, brooding on how he could prepare five
laddus in a place where he himself was a guest. Even otherwise he would have
had to take the assistance of another person for the purpose and Sai Baba
would have surely known about it. Moreover, why did Sai Baba ask him for
only five laddus and not laddus generally? He spent a day thinking about the
deeper meaning thereof and fell asleep with this thought uppermost in his
mind. Suddenly he woke up and was inspired to compose a stanza. In the
morning while he busied himself with the second stanza, Hari Sitaram
Dikshit, on his way to the Musjid, saw the stanza. After his bath, Bhishma
went to the musjid. Sai Baba reminded him about the laddus. Bhishma kept
quiet but Dikshit replied that laddus were being prepared. On hearing this
Sai Baba fell into a silence. Next day, Bhishma completed five stanzas, and
however hard he tried, he could not compose any more. So he placed the
composition of five stanzas into Sai Baba’s hands. Sai Baba asked him to
recite them. While he was reciting, Sai Baba again blessed him by putting
his palm on his head and Bhishma felt exalted. Thereafter Bhishma would
compose a verse and show it to Sai Baba who would order him to render it.
Thus the booklet “Shri Sainath Sagunopasna” wrote itself and was offered at
Sai Baba’s feet. Dadasaheb Khaparde has the booklet published at his expense
till 1922. Later on in 1923, after Shri Sai Baba Sansthan was founded, with
Bhaishma’s consent a revised edition was planned and published by the
Sansthan with incorporation of more compositions therein.

Satsang How K.J.Bhishma Composed "Shri Sadguru Sainath Sagunopasana"

Satsang How K.J.Bhishma Composed "Shri Sadguru Sainath Sagunopasana".

How K.J.Bhishma Composed “Shri Sadguru Sainath Sagunopasana” .
Krishnashastri Jageshwar Bhishma was a resident of a village called Bori in
the district of Nagpur. He lived on the income from his farms. After his
second wife died he became restless. His relations and friends advised him
to remarry but he declined. In the month of Shravan in 1908, on the night of
Purnima he had a dream. He saw a person of dark complexion with tripundra
mark on his forehead, sandal-wood paste mixed with saffron applied to his
body and puja offered at his feet. He gave Bhishma a newspaper. Bhishma
enquired of him as to who he was. He did not reply but pointed to the the
newspaper on which “Sat-Chit-Anand” was printed in bold letters. He directed
Bhishma to read. Bhishma looked at the newspaper wherein he saw the words
“Mantra va shikava” which mean “mantra and learn”. Bhishma was intrigued and
wanted to question the dark person, but both the person and the newspaper
had vanished. Bhishma was mystified, but in the meantime he heard a knock at
the door and he emerged out of his dream. He lost no time in recording this
dream. Thereafter he thought long about his dream but was unable to unravel
the mystery. After a few days a sadhu, a devotee of Ganesh, visited Bori.
Bhishma narrated his dream to the sadhu who told him that “Sat-chit-anand
Swami” was his guru, and gave him the mantra “va shikava” combining the
words “and learn”.
After sometime Bhishma happened to visit Amraoti where Dadasaheb Khaparde
asked him whether he would like to accompany him (Khaparde) to Shirdi. He
agreed and in the company of Khaparde arrived in Shirdi. There is a mention
of Bhishma in Khaparde’s Diary pertaining to his second and long stay at
Shirdi beginning from 6th December, 1911. As soon as Bhishma went to the
Musjid for Sai Baba’s darshan, Sai Baba with folded hands exclaimed “Jaya
Sat-chit-anand” . Bhishma was perplexed. He wondered whether the sadhu of his
dream was Sai Baba. However, the sadhu of his dream was a Vaishnav while Sai
Baba appeared to be a Muslim! Yet, why Sai Baba utter Sat-chit-anand? All
Brahmin devotees of Sai Baba took tirtha of his feet but Bhishma did not.
Sai Baba used to smoke the chillim and often invoted others to have a puff
but excluded Bhishma in the beginning. Once while Sai Baba was narrating a
story, a devotee got the chillim ready and handed it to Sai Baba. Sai Baba
held it out to Bhishma and directed him to smoke after merely touching the
chillim to his mouth. Bhishma had a puff and returned it to Sai Baba. Sai
Baba accepted it and remarked, “I rove everywhere, my friend – Bombay, Pune,
Satara, Nagpur; all those towns are filled with the presence of Rama”. Then
he suddenly said to Bhishma, “You eat laddus alone by yourslef without
offering anything to me. At least now give me five laddus”. It is well known
that Sai Baba asked for dakshina from every devotee and spent the amount
collected for charitable purposes.

Sri Sai Amrit Vani - 28th June 2007

28th June 2007
Jai Sai Ram
It was an usual Thursday but without the honey. Honey was missing this Thursday. Last week I uploaded and also appended the photos of Leelas of Baba that happened on that Thursday. By this time there are so many photos of Baba with the Leelas, that it will become duplication. Total collection of all the photos of Baba in the photo section of yahoogroup ‘mysaibaba20’ is about 400 in different folders. Many rare and original photos are also there.

If you have send in the email with the assurance that the named devotees will recite or read or listen Sri Sai Amrit Vani and still the name is not there in the list, then it is possible that you may not have given the name of the place. The list of devotees, who ask us to pray, is not compiled as they are very much in numbers, however they are prayed for.
Following devotees participated in absencia in the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja, prayers and Prayan of Sri Sai Satcharitra by reciting Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places on 28th June 2007. The list is sorted as per their email ids. However Mrs. Gupta prayed for all the devotees. In this list only those devotees are included, who themselves recited or read Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places. Kindly mention clearly, against each devotee’s name that he/she will recite or read or listen to Sri Sai Amrit Vani, or for prayers. Please also give the name of the place.

This Thursday the 28th June we enjoyed the following Leelas.

1. Udi started appearing and oozing from the two photos on the wall from Monday itself, Hindi words ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’, and figure of Trishool were formed with Udi on one photo. On Wednesday Udi started oozing from the main photo in the mandir. ‘RAM’ ‘SHAM’ and ‘OM’ along with other figures were also formed on the photo. From Statue also, Udi started oozing from Wednesday.
2. There was lot of Water from the Charans this week also. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. After distribution of Prasad, this water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water. Devotees bring bottles to take the water home. This time water was much in quantity and it oozed with much speed that it overfload the thali and spoiled all the papers on the table. Mrs Gupta had to spend much time in cleaning and changing it.
3. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with Udi during the prayers. Udi was there between the falls of the Sari.
4. Several devotees had Udi in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani.
5. On Thursday as soon as Bhog was offered, it was duly accepted by Baba and after the Sri Sai Amrit Vani we noticed that the box, which was placed before HIM was partially eaten and partially remained pieces of items in the box. Part of Bhog was on the lips of many photos and statue of Baba. These parts of the remains in the box were given to the devotees who offered that item of bhog to Baba. Partly eaten remains were having some figures on them.
6. Presence of Baba during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Prayer and Prayan of Sri Satcharitra was very strong.
7. All the boxes of Bhog which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi,
8. The Charnamrit, the water in which Baba took the bath in the morning was also sweet as if some honey has been mixed into it.
9. Many documents and photos of devotees kept in the mandir room, were blessed with lots of Udi as soon as they were placed before Baba.
10. Documents, Statues, photos of Baba and Sai Satcharitra kept in the mandir were all blessed with Udi. Two Sai Satcharitra were given to 2 different devotees.

Satsang Message for the day

Satsang Message for the day

The one who is generous gets everything yet has freedom from desires.

When we are generous we would be free from expesctations from others
orsituations. Then we are able to appreciate all the good things
that life brings our way. Also the more we are able to be beyond
desires the more we find that what is right comes to us.

When I find myself expecting something, I need to tell myself that
I will surely get what is right for me. So I need not ask for
anything, but enjoy and use everything that comes my way for my
benefit and for the benefit of others.

Satsang APPA KULKARNI

Satsang APPA KULKARNI
APPA KULKARNI
Keshav Anant alias Appa Kulkarni, a resident of Shirdi village, was a
devotee of Baba for a long time. He was a staunch proponent of truth;
but he was very egoistic. He had deep faith in Baba; but he was a
harassed man - as if the sins of his earlier birth were after him.
He was accused of misappropriation in some government matter. The
news spread very fast in the village and without verificaton of the
truth, a rumor - that Appa Kulkarni was a cheat and has swindled
money - started circulating. There was a talk that a case would be
filed against him.
The then district collector officer sent a word to Appa and called
him to give his statement. Appa got scared and started saying that
- ‘‘Now, I cannot return home.’’
Before under taking the journey, as per usual practice, he went to bow
before Baba. He prostrated before Baba and pleaded, ‘‘Baba, You are my
father and You are my mother. You know, whether the accusation is true
or false. If something happens to me, it will be You Who will be
blamed. Please, save me from this peril !’’
Hearing the utterances of Appa, Baba took pity on him. He said, ‘‘Appa,
do not fear. Presently, the district officer is at village Nevase -
the same place where Sant Dnyaneshwar wrote his treatise Dnyaneshwari
- First there, take Darshan of Mohiniraja and bow down before him !
Then go to the Saheb ! The Mohiniraja will protect you.’’
Appa did exactly what he was told. After bowing down before Mohiniraja,
he went to the Saheb’s office and wrote down his statement. After going
through it, the Saheb said, ‘‘I am convinced that you have not
defalcated money. Therefore, I am releasing you.’’
Appa danced with joy. Next day he returned to Shirdi, held on tightly
to Baba’s feet and said, ‘‘Baba, You saved my reputation. I am ever
grateful to You.’’ Baba replied, ‘‘Who am I ? This was done by the
Parameshwar. He turns impossible into possible, Appa !’’
Appa devoted his life to Baba. Baba also brought other devotees closer
through Appa. Amongst such devotees, prominent was Nanasaheb Chandorkar
- a highly learned and high ranking govt. official.
Around 1892, Nanasaheb - who was then residing at Kalyan – was appointed
as secretary to the collector of Ahmednagar. Baba called Appa and told
him, “Go, and tell that Nana that I have called him !” Appa delivered
Baba’s message to Nanasaheb.
How could believe this ? He said, “Why Baba is calling me ? And why are
you taking His name ? Tell me clearly what you want !”
Then Appa narrated the incident in detail to Nanasaheb and convinced
him that it was really Baba Who had sent the message.

Subject: Satsang APPA KULKARNI (contd....)
APPA KULKARNI
in the same year, like Nanasaheb, Baba also brought Shri Narayan Krishna
Pendse and his devout wife through Appa Kulkarni to His Darbar.
Pendse’s wife was very pious. Everyone called her ‘Maai’. Hearing about
Baba ’s reputation, she was keenly anxious to take His Darshan. But,
Pendse himself never believed in such matters. He said to her, “There
is no saint in Shirdi that you talk of. However, in a Masjid there, a
mad and pretentious Muslim Fakir sits. The villagers are crazy after
him. According to the information that I have received, this beggar
from the Masjid goes from door to door, collects alms and survives.”
However, his wife was restless. Considering her anxiety, Baba managed
a coincidence. Pendse was required to go to Shirdi for some Govt. work.
His wife accompanied him and when he proceeded for his work, she came
to the Masjid and took Baba’s Darshan. On returning home, she narrated
the incident to Pendse and said, “He is really a saint. Do not criticize
Him or blame Him. Take His Darshan and enjoy the bliss !”
Then Pendse came to the Masjid. When he came near to the steps, Baba
roared, “I am warning you. Do not come forward. I am pretentious and
mad Muslim. You are high caste Brahmin. Then why do you come to take
my Darshan ?” Pendse was stunned to hear his exact words coming out
of Baba’s mouth. He became restless to have Baba’s Darshan. He caught
hold of Appa Kulkarni and with his influence availed Baba’s Darshan.
Once, Appa was sitting with Baba in the Masjid as per his usual
practice.
While chitchatting, Baba said to him, “You see Appa, thieves are going
to visit our village today. They are not going to commit dacoity; but
they are concentrating on the main wealth. They commit their act so
fast and with such expertise that even if you are alert, you get
heated. Go and see, what precautions you can take. Because, today
they are going to raid you !”
At that time, there were signs that an epidemic of cholera was likely
to break-out. But, nobody could see it coming. Taking Baba’s words
literally, Appa started making preparations. He put guards to protect
property. It was night time and Appa started having vomits and loose
motions. His hands and legs became cold turned stiff like wood. His
pulse slowed down.
Seeing that his end is near, his wife panicked. She was sure that
soon she would become a widow. She rushed to Baba and pleaded to save
her husband. She asked for Udi. But, Baba consoled her that “One day
every living being has to face death. But, the soul lives for ever.
Take courage and face the reality.”
Hearing these words, the lady took control of herself. She went home
and after some time Appa went to his heavenly abode. Next day, 2-3
more people took ill. The villagers rushed to Baba. He said, “Totally
seven persons will die and then the disease will leave this village.”
Accordingly, seven persons passed away and the epidemic disappeared.
Appa was fortunate to have the love and affection of his Sadguru.

Satsang Affection of Sri Sai Baba by Omprakash S. Mehta

Satsang Affection of Sri Sai Baba by Omprakash S. Mehta
Affection of Sri Sai Baba
This event is of 1st September 1985. I had invited some of my guests for
lunch and they were sitting in the drawing room where in every corner Sri
Sai Baba's Photo's were hung. Suddenly one of my guests started joking, "Mr.
Mehta, you have got Sai Baba's picture every where in the room; what do you
get by this?" I told them every thing which I wished to the peace of mind
and that I get from the feeling that from every direction God is looking my
activities. Another guest asked, "Does it mean that Sai Baba knows what you
do at what time?" I said, "Yes, he also knows that today you have been
invited here". Suddenly my hand was raised and there appeared Baba's
Vibhuti. They were looking surprisingly I told see this is God's gift, you
are very lucky that God has given this at the right time to bless you. They
were very much impressed by this and asked me the way of worshiping. I told
them to remember Him whenever the time permits them from the depth of heart.
Thus Lord Sai helps me in increasing the love and devotion towards him. I
pray to the almighty to show the same affection to all other loving devotees
too.

Satsang LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI

Satsang LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI
LAXMAN MAMA KULKARNI
Laxmanrao Kulkarni Ratnaparkhi was maternal uncle of Madhavrao Deshpande. He
was a resident of Shirdi itself. He was an orthodox Brahmin. He used to
follow the laws of touchability and religious rites very rigorously.
As Laxmanrao was the maternal uncle of Madhavrao, he was known as ‘Laxman
Mama’ in the village. He was the Vatandar Kulkarni and Gram Joshi of Shirdi
Village.
While the devotees were experiencing Baba’s miracles, Laxmanrao maintained a
distance from such things. He not only had no faith in Baba, but he was a
very staunch opponent of Him.
An unlearned person is likely to fall into prey to bad ompany and habits. He
may listen only to his ego and have belief only in himself. Gradually, he
starts thinking that he is bigger than God. To bring such a person to the
proper path, Bhagvant gives him certain jolts. The person starts coming back
to his senses. Then, the Almighty enters his inner soul and gives him
deliverance.
It so happened with Laxmanrao. The great egoist fell ill with an incurable
disease. His sufferings knew no limits in spite of the various remedies he
tried. Ultimately - as a last resort - he came to Baba’s Masjid.
Baba looked at him with tranquil eyes, moved his hand over Laxmanrao’s body
and said, “Go ! Allah will set things right.”
There was a miraculous change in Laxmanrao from the time he stepped into the
Masjid. On top of it, he had the blessings of Baba. From that moment, he
became a devotee of Baba.
On another occasion, Baba took a test of Laxmanrao.
Bappaji was the only son of Laxmanrao. When he was young, he ailed from some
incurable disease. But, now Laxmanrao had faith in Baba. Therefore, along
with other medial remedies, everyday he started bringing Udi from Baba’s own
hands and giving through water to Bappaji.
However, there came a time, when people felt that the body is going to be
lost for ever. Laxmanrao rushed to the Masjid. He prostrated hemself at Baba
’s Feet and cried, “Baba, save my son ! Oh, my God, I bow before you.”
But, suddenly, Baba shouted at him, ‘‘Go away !’’ He even started showering
abuses. Laxmanrao got scared. He was unable to understand Baba’s strange
behaviour.
In reality, now Laxmanrao had started believing in Baba. However, his old
traits had not been completely eradicated. Some of his ego was still
lingering. A few questions and doubts used to crop up in his mind - time and
again.
With a heavy heart, Laxmanrao returned home. And after some time, Baba got
up from His place. He came down the steps of the Masjid and straight away
went to Laxmanrao’s home. With love and affection, He moved His hand over
Bappaji’s body and immediately turned back. From that moment, Bappaji got
relief.
Now Laxmanrao began believing that Baba is God Incarnat. He decided that in
his every deed he will remember Baba.
Early every morning, Laxmanrao used to complete the rituals of Snan-sandhya
and then came to the Masjid to avail Baba’s Darshan. He used to wash Baba’s
Feet (Pad-prakshalan), used anoint Gandha Akshata, draw a Tilak, place
flowers and Tulsi leaves, offer Dhoop - Deep -Naivedya and Dakshina.
Thereafter, he used to prostrate himself before Baba and take His blessings.
He used to distribute Prasad amongst those present. And then, he used to
proceed to perform Pooja of other Gods and Goddesses of the village. This
was his daily routine and he adhered to it till the end. With great
devotion, he served Baba.
After the demise of Baba’s loved devotee Megha, it was Bapusaheb Jog who
used to perform Baba’s Pooja at all times. In the afternoon of 15th October,
1918 - on the auspicious day of Dassera - Baba took Maha-nirvan. On the same
night, He appeared in the dream of Laxmanrao and told him, “Bapusaab will
not come to perform my Kakad Aarati. He thinks, I am dead. But, I am alive.
You come and perform my Kakad Aarati.”
There was havoc after the Maha-nirvan of Baba. Everyone was moved with deep
grief. On that night, Baba’s mortal body was placed in Masjid itself. Next
day, it was moved to Butti Wada. Therefore, as instructed by Baba in the
dream, Laxmanrao arrived at the Masjid with full preparations for performing
Pooja. He prostrated before Baba, removed the cloth covering the face and
took the last Darshan, and proceeded to perform Pooja. Many - who were
present experienced Baba’s hands moving at that time.
Time and again, Laxman Mama’s eyes were getting filled up with tears. His
body was trembling. In that state, he opened Baba’s closed fist, placed Vida
Dakshina, covered the body and departed from there.
Thereafter, the noon Aarati was performed by Bapusaheb Jog and in the
evening Baba’s body was brought to Butti Wada...
This was the way in which Baba showered His blessings upon Laxman Mama. Baba
entered Mama’s dream and made him perform the Aarati.
After Laxman Mama’s demise, his only son Bappaji became Vatandar Kulkarni
and Gram Joshi of Shirdi Village. Bappaji was fortunate enough to be around
Baba for close to twelve years when Baba was Dehdhari.
Bappaji said that Baba believed in reincarnation of man.
In the year 1917, Lokmanya Tilak had come to Shirdi and offered coconut and
garland to Baba. Baba returned the coconut as a Prasad to Tilak. Bappaji was
present in the Masjid at that time.
Bappaji was a good Keertankar. He was well read as far as religious books
are concerned.

Satsang Pure heart is -------------

Pure heart is when you dont think bad about anyone. Pure heart is when you
dont let jealousy ,greed ,anger or lust be in your heart or mind. Pure heart
is when you forgive and forget ,the bad behaviour of people who are against
you .Pure heart is when U beleive that you will do ur good karma no matter
how hard it is for you cos in the end it is Baba who is with u and what ever
the outcome will be -it will be for your best. Pure heart is when instead of
arguing with someone or gossiping about someone , you choose to be
quiet.Arguing will just give rise to anger and ego which will destroy our
peace of mind .And gossiping about someone is like pointing four fingers at
yourself when you point 1 finger towards someone else, after all we are not
perfect so we are not in a position to comment or judge about other people's
karma.Pure heart is when you try your level best not to have ego . Pure
heart is where love ,peace of mind and SAI lives.

Satsang Inspirations from Sai Vichaar

Satsang Inspirations from Sai Vichaar

Man walks from "EVERYTHING" to "NOTHING":-
The inward journey from the "world's everything" leads one to find the "soul's nothing". In NOTHING he suddenly finds he has EVERYTHING. The inward journey to find our soul results in the bliss where we find "everything", "The happiness".
There are two choices in this world. 1. Getting higher positions, high qualifications, more money or 2. Living with what we get, following the chosen path, loving and serving others. The first choice will boost our ego. The second choice will give us holy ash. Now, the choice is ours...
Love All Serve All:-
God gets expressed in us, when we are loving and serving others. Other times He does not get expressed in us because we are busy thinking with our ego about our selves...So we cannot blame God for not being with us at those moments..
Unity in Diversity (A logical investigation):-
Sai Baba says he is inside everybody. So, "you" (your name for example, Shanthi., .Ganesh., Peter, ..George, ...Chang, ..Mohamed. .etc) are inside every body else.
If you see YOUR SELF in the EYES of people you meet everyday... then you are very closer to Swamy. LOOK FOR THE LOVE OR SEARCH FOR THE LOVE INSIDE OTHERS EVERY DAY.....this is the first most important step in finding Sai Baba.
You will definitely find "Baba" in people you meet. Initially it might be a difficult task, may be even frightening! But, you will become used to meeting Baba wherever you go.

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Pitru Yagna
.Let us now take Pitru Yagna-the offering to the ancestors. A devotee had
not been performing the "Sradha" of his late father. In "Sradha" the food is
offered to the pitras and ultimately everything reaches the foot of Lord
Vishnu-"Vishmi Pade Dattam". On seeing the particular devotee Shri Baba
said, "This man has starved me and his father". By this statement Shri Baba
made two things clear. First, the importance of Pitru Yagna. Second that He
was Vishnu reincarnated.

Deva Yagna
We next take up Deva Yagna - the offering to Gods. Instances abound in
Shri Baba's life and teachings, where he emphasized the importance of
offering to Gods. Shri Baba Himself whenever "He cooked food, first offered
it to God before distributing it to others. When Nana bypassed Datta's
temple to avoid an offering of Rs. 500/-, which he had vowed, Shri Baba
chided him and refused to talk to him and Nana realised his mistake. Shri
Baba advised all His devotees not to neglect the worship and offerings to
their family deities. Shama had to offer silver breasts to the Goddess
Saptashringi to fulfill the long standing vow of his late mother. When he
approached Shri Baba with the silver offerings, He refused to accept them
(although He identified Himself with Lakshmi) and directed him to make a
pilgrimage to the temple of the Goddess and make the offering there.

Bhoota Yagna
Bhoota Yagna comes next. This is the offering to beings. Shri Baba used to
beg for His food and on His return to Dwarakamai he used to deposit the food
in a kundi. Dogs, cats and crows ate the food from the kundi freely. Once
when Mrs. Tarkhad was carrying specially made dishes for Shri Baba, a hungry
dog turned up. Mrs. Tarkhad threw some food for the dog. When she reached
Dwarkamai Shri Baba told her, "Mother! Take pity on Me like this. First give
food to the hungry and then eat yourself". Shri Baba added further, "The dog
which you saw before meals and to whom you gave the piece of bread is one
with me, so also other creatures. He, who sees Me in all these creatures is
my beloved".

Manushya or Atithi Yagna
Lastly comes the Manushya or Atithi Yagna or the offering to men or
uninvited guests. Shri Baba always said that without "Rinanubandh" nobody
comes to any one. To quote the words of Shri Baba, "Unless there is some
relationship or connection nobody goes anywhere. If any man or creature
comes to you, do not discourteously drive him away but receive him well and
treat him well. Lord Hari will be certainly pleased if you give water to the
thirsty, bread to the hungry, clothes to the naked and your verandah to the
strangers for sitting and resting". By numerous incidents, Shri Baba
encouraged those who followed this advice and scolded those who behaved
rudely to beggars and strangers; the compassion which Shri Baba himself
showed to the poor and needy cannot be described in words.

All the above examples show that Shri Baba was the greatest exponent of the
Vedic and Upanishadic teachings by His words and more than that by His
deeds. As devotees of Shri Baba, it is our duty to meditate on His teachings
and lead our lives accordingly. That is the surest way of pleasing Baba and
getting his ever lasting blessings.

Satsang Sai is Still Living

Satsang Sai is Still Living

Sai is Still Living

According to the Chapter 27 of Shri Sai Satcharita, Shri Sai Baba gave
EKNATH Bhagwat to his devotee Shyama for his spiritual welfare and
blessings. In the same way I relate my story of Shri Sai Satcharit given to
me by Shri Sai Baba.

In June 1976, I visited Shirdi accompanied by my husband and my only son,
whom I got with Lord Sai's blessings. My husband purchased a copy of Sai
Satcharit in English. I insisted that the Hindi Edition of the Book should
be purchased; but he was not agreeable as he did not know Hindi
conversantly. On coming back to Delhi I was wonderstruck to know that a copy
of the Hindi Edition of Shri Sai Satcharit was found near my book shelf, of
course without the first picture page. Since then, I am reading one chapter
of the book daily and I am experiencing His grace and mental peace even now
in the rowdy world.

Satsang How Baba Redeems His Pledge

Satsang How Baba Redeems His Pledge

How Baba Redeems His Pledge
"Cast all your burdens on me and I shall bear them" was the pledge given by
Shri SAIBABA, for the benefit of humanity. The devotee has to do his part in
a spirit of complete surrender, and BABA had never failed HIS devotees.
Since nearly four decades, I and the members of my family have been
experiencing the redemption of this pledge by BABA. There was never a
problem in our lives, which could not be solved by HIS grace. There were
innumerable instances when we turned to Him for succor and guidance and we
were never disappointed. I would crave the indulgence of the kind readers,
to mention two or three of several such instances,

In 1959 my only son had appeared for his B. E. mechanical, final examination
and came home to spend his summer vacation with us. I found him unusually
brooding. When pressed, he revealed the cause. He was worried because he did
not fare well in his examination. He was expecting his first ever failure in
his academic career. Since childhood he was a very sensitive child. I prayed
to BABA to come to his help and vowed to send a certain amount to Shirdi
Sansthan, for poor feeding. A few days later, I had a dream in which BABA
was sitting on the branch of a huge tree, the top of which was in the
clouds. HE stretched HIS hand towards me from the sky demanding HIS money.
After I woke up the daily paper came in the morning and I was happy to find
my boy's number in the list of successful candidates. I immediately sent the
amount to Shirdi.

A few years back all the members of our family went to Tirupati in our car
for the tonsure ceremony of my grand-son. One night, prior to our departure,
I had a dream. In the dream, we were traveling in our car along a very
narrow forest road. Our journey was obstructed by a big tree which fell
right across the narrow road. There was no way of by passing the road block.
We tried to remove the tree; but it did not budge. While we were waiting in
despair, a villager wearing soiled and torn clothes came there. He laughed
at us, coming to know about our predicament and questioned me "You are so
many and why don't you all make an effort to remove the tree". I
told him that we have tried and failed. He said he would assist us and
we all tried again. Our contribution was of no consequence, as he pulled the
tree from the road with ease. I felt grateful to him and thanked him
profusely and offered him some of the eatables which we had in
the car. He ate them with relish and wanted some more. We gave him
some more. He again wanted some more and thus he ate all, that
was available in the car. After that he again asked for something
more and I told him that nothing was left with us.

Satsang Baba's Udi Miracles by The Late M. Narasimha Rao,

Satsang Baba's Udi Miracles by The Late M. Narasimha Rao,

Baba's Udi Miracles
We are well-conversant with numerous miracles of Baba's Udi (Sacred ash or
Vibhuti) from study of Sai-Satcharitra. We also share with great interest
the numerous personal experiences of our Sai-brothers and Sai-sisters
regarding the same when we open the pages of the reputed Journal "Shri
Sai-Leela".

I am also tempted to narrate herewith some of my personal experiences about
Udi. It may not be out of place to refer to my previous article in Hindi
"Vibhuti Ki Alaukik Leela" (Shri Sai-Leela December '83). It is interesting
to note that the Tin Box, in which the School Mistress was supplied a small
quantity of Udi from our house about 10 years back, is never empty up till
now, though Udi is being taken out from the box daily for her own use and
for other members of her family. Thanks due to Mahaprabhu's touch, prayed
that he should continue to be afflicted with the disease, as only then, his
thoughts would be always centered on the Lord, he said, Ordinary people rail
at Cod even for little adversities in life, holding Him responsible though
they are only reaping the consequences of their past misdeeds.

Yet, there is the famous example of Kunti Devi, the mother of the Pandava
princes who prayed to Sri Krishna that she be visited ever with disasters
and distress every now and then, so that she could always remember the Lord!
What a strange prayers they were to the Supreme Lord by His sincere
devotees!

Kuchela (Sudhama) a classmate of Shree Krishna when he visited the latter
has absolutely forgotten to request for financial help though he was very
poor. One should never have or experience "Penuary" of heart in praying to
God.

One need not ask or seek any thing from the Supreme Lord who is omniscient,
omnipresent, and omnipotent. He ever knows well His devotees' plight and
whether one craves or not for His Divine help it simply flows to His
devotees in times of need or an 'Emergency' This is the experience of God's
true bhaktas. Lord Vishnu rescued His Devotee Gajendra after the latter
completely surrendered himself to His divine will after his great struggle
and after severe test he was put to by the God. Several Legends and Leelas
of God amply testify about this baffling Divine ways or Leelas of God.

Our Akhilanda Koti, Brahmanda Nayaka, Yogadhi Raja, Sachhitananda,
Parabrahma, Samarth Sadguru Shree Sai Nath Maha Raj knows well as to what
should be granted, and when to be granted, irrespective of His Devotees
prayers for His boons according to their eligibility for His boons to
receive them at the appropriate time and place as per His Divine will. The
Leelas in Sri Sat Charita are replete with such anecdotes graphically giving
the experiences of ankita children of Shree Saibaba of Shirdi.

Even though one casts his burden on His divine shoulders, and looks up to
Him for His help and guidance, he, must practice tooth and nail His two (2)
great commands to Shraddha (i.e. faith with devotion) and Saburi (i.e.
Courage with Patience) to become eligible for Shree Sai Baba's Divine grace
in life! He says "Ever carry Me, in your heart!" from His Mahasamadhi, which
is effectively communicating and speaking to His true devotees day by day!

Jai Sai Ram! "Let us Bow to Shree Sai — Be Peace be to All"

Satsang Thought for the day

Satsang Thought for the day

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For beautiful eyes, seek out the good in other people.

To lose weight, let go of stress and the need to control others.

To improve your ears, listen to the word of God.

For poise, walk with knowledge and self-esteem.

To strengthen your arms, hug at least three people

a day.

To strengthen your heart, forgive yourself and others.

Touch someone with your love.

Rather than focus upon the thorns of life, smell the roses and count your blessings.

Don't worry and hurry so much...

Rather walk this earth lightly and yet leave your mark!

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER

He constantly and invariably prides himself in ruining and in the ruins of
others Thus he not only mars his own life but mars the life of those around
him. Here his intellect works like a knife in the hands of a murderer that
wroughts the hedious, murderous and inhuman act of treachery. Here this
inanimate object-the knife-feels very sorry for having seen the light of the
day and being possessed by an inhuman creature, to suffer the hell for
having done some inhuman act. Thus such a man becomes a nuisance and an
obnoxious person to the society.

The root cause of this inhuman behaviour is the Ego, 'the I-feeling*. The
Ego I all through the life of a man right from the cradle to the grave
completely pervades and incessantly dictates the human mind and paves the
way for a hedious hell. This Ego ‘I' makes him forget all the invaluable
values attached to the sense of honesty, faithfulness, truthfulness,
sincerity, compassion, love, non-violence and thereby giving place to
unauthenticity, disloyalty, falsehood, frivolity, fraud, distrust, cruelty,
hatred, malice, and violence at last. The treasure of all the good qualities
is disappearing from the dictionary and vanishing from the human mind and
soul.

This I feeling goads a man to tresspass over the rights of others just for
the sake of satisfaction of his own 'selfish instincts. The states and
countries also will never prove an exception to this egocentric instinct.
The very frequent clashes between nations and nations even with the coming
up of U. N. O. with a very benevolent desire to pave the way for universal
peace, are the very valid and outstanding proofs of this inhuman act. As
long as man is under the spell of egocentrism he runs after a shadow. Once
he throws off this false guise and frees himself from the clutches of
illusion then only he begins to think of the substance, the reality. But he
gets this spark in him only when he completely submits and surrenders
himself at the holy feet and sweet will of Sadguru Sai Baba.

The prudent man will never give any undue value to this illusory and
deluding world and this perishable and muddy body. He will always feel that
this life is a peregrination between life and death and he himself a
traveller resting for a while in this earth, the caravanserai till his
journey's end serving the human souls for which he is sent for and to return
to his real and eternal home, the Heaven. This is one way of looking at the
life.

Another way of looking at life is that this Universe is a vessel in which he
is journeying in the sea of mundane existence the driver of which is Baba
the Almighty and the-all-pervading. Here he submits himself completely to
the sweet will of Baba the God either to take him safe to the shore or to
drown him half way in the sea as we completely surrender ourselves to the
sweet will and fancy of the driver of a bus, a train or plane when we are
travelling during the course of our daily routine life either to take us
towards the destination or to meet with some sudden disastrous accident half
way.
This sort of complete surrender and submission to Sadguru Sai Baba will only
help the poor suffering souls to attain salvation from the wheel of life
revolving on the axis of birth and rebirth.

Satsang Shri Baba Converts "No" into "Yes" by Shri Anil Keshavrao Rasal

Shri Baba Converts "No" into "Yes"
Four years preceding 1976, much though I wished to appear for B.A.
Examination; I could not do so. For some or other urgent domestic problems
invariably cropped up at the examination time compelling me to give up the
idea of doing the Examination.

Finally, I resolved that come what may, I would do it in October, 1976.
Accordingly, I saw my Officer and spoke to him of my plans. He bluntly told
me that he would not sanction my leave and advised me to appear in 1977.
Despite my Officer's "No" I made an application for leave and sincerely
prayed Shri Baba to sanction it.

On the day I wrote my application, the Chairman of our Bombay Port Trust,
visited our Office and was pleased with the Work-diary maintained by me. The
Officer, who, had declined to sanction my leave had accompanied the Chairman
with our Head of Department. He too was pleased. Next day, I was informed
that my leave was sanctioned by the Officer who had earlier refused to do
so.
I thanked Shri Baba for converting “No” into “Yes”.

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Satsang Shri Baba and Vedic Religion by Sai Rag

Shri Baba and Vedic Religion
The other day, I was reading the text of a talk by the venerable Kanchi
Acharya Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham at
Kancheepuram). The Acharya has emphasized that Pancha Yagaa (Five kinds of
Sacrifices) is the best means of atonement of sins and final salvation. The
five kinds of Yagna are:
1. Brahma Yagna or Vedadhyan - Offerings to a Brahman or the study of
Vedas.
2. Pitru Yagna - Offerings to the ancestors.
3. Deva Yagna - Offerings to Gods
4. Bhoota Yagna - Offerings to the beings.
5. Manushya or Atithi Yagna - Offerings to men or uninvited guests.

When I read this, my mind went to our Shri Baba. He, who had taken Avatar
for the emancipation of mankind, had endorsed by his words and deeds the
Upanishad teachings in letter and spirit. A study of Sai Satcharita amply
illustrates this. What I am attempting is to highlight certain incidents and
teachings of Shri Baba, which emphasize the importance of the five Yagnas.

Brahma Yagna
Baba loved those, who studied Brahma Vidya and encouraged them. Once,
Bapusaheb Jog received a post-parcel. It contained a copy of Gita Rahasya by
Lokmanya Tilak. Taking it under his armpit, he went to Sri Baba and
prostrated himself before Him. Shri Baba told him "Read this completely and
you will be benefited". It was a common sight in Dwarkamai to see orthodox
Vaishnavites and Agnihotris chanting Vedas, Upanisbads and the Gayatri in
the presence of Shri Baba and feel most elevated. Yet Shri Baba knew that
the study of Vedas and Upanishads was possible only for a few. So for many,
Shri Baba showed a simpler path. He encouraged Shama, Purandare and many
others to study Vishnu Sahasranamam. He directed Swami Vijayanand to do
continuous reading of Bhagawat (to ensure continuous remembrance of Hari)
just before the Swami left his mortal coils. Many of the devotees read
Adhyatma Ramayan, Jnaneshwari and other scriptures under Shri Baba's
guidance. The episode of Shri Baba expounding the meaning of a verse from
Bhagwat Gita to Nana, is too well known. The other interesting incident is
the teaching of the meaning of Isha Upanishad to Das' Ganu. Shri Baba also
knew that for many devotees even the study of scriptures was too much. He,
therefore pointed out to them other simpler ways. He told Mrs. Khaparde
always to chant "Rajaram" and added "If you do this, your life's object will
be gained. Your mind will attain peace and you will be immensely benefited".
Another devotee was reminded in a subtle way the mantra given to him by his
guru "Shri Ram Jay Ram Jay Jay Ram". Perhaps the simplest path shown by Him
was the chanting of Sai Ram. "If a man utters my name with love, I shall
fulfill all his wishes and increase his devotion. The simple remembrance of
my name as 'SAI SAI' will do away with sins, of speech and hearing,"

Satsang Meaning of sraddha

Satsang Meaning of sraddha

Posted by: "G. Balasubramanian"
*Dear Brothers and Sisters,*
Let us now take up the term Sraddha for elaboration.*

*What is meant by Sraddha? Sankaracharya defines this term as follows:-*
*"That by which one understands the exact import of the scriptures as well
as the pregnant words of advice of of the preceptor (Sastrasya Guruvakyasya
Satyabuddhi Avadharana) is called Sraddha by the wise( Sa Sraddha kathita
sadbih);by this alone does Reality become manifestly clear(Yaya
Vastoopalabhyate)."*
**
*Sraddha is the fifth of the qualifications found necessary in an aspirant.
Sraddha is not blind faith as it is generally understood. It is not a mere
static belief (viswas) swallowing everything that is said by another
authority without subjecting it to evidential tests. It is a healthy attempt
at a clear intellectual appreciation of the secret depths of the
significances underlying the words of the scriptures and the Spiritual
Master (Guru). It is an essential requisite for anyone trying to master the
truths of the scriptures. The scriptures give us ,through a technique of
suggestions, as clear a description of the Infinite Truth as possible,
through finite words . As such, the pure Consciousness which is the core of
Reality can not be defined or expressed in words and this supreme point of
human evolution can only be indicated by the scriptures. If the words
indicating Truth are to be correctly interpreted, understood and efficiently
made use of , an honest and sincere effort on the part of the students and
seekers is absolutely necessary. This capacity through sincere effort to
realise the words of the scriptures in all their suggestiveness is termed as
Sraddha.*
**
*In a man possessing Sraddha there is no room for frivolity, vascillation,
scepticism, arrogance and pretence. Devotion, adoration, oblation,
sacrifice and prayer become complete and blemishless, if only they are
performed with Sraddha , which sums up the God-receptive attitude of
man. Sraddha
is the warp and woof of man. The Gita says,"Man is man, only in the measure
of the Sraddha he poseeses (Sraddhaamayah ayam purushah yah yat sraddhah sa
eva sah). Sankaracharya provides another definition for Sraddha as Aastikya
buddhih, which when translated means,'the positive attitude oriented
reason'. In the Kathopanishad the student Nachiketa is presented as
possessed of Sraddha(shraddhaavivesa). He was in search of Truth and he
had a deep faith and firm conviction that the profound Truth lay behind the
diverse phenomena of nature and life. The basic positive attitude to the
unknown dimension of Reality is called Sraddha. It is the faith in our
capacity to unravel the mystery and for a sincere and sustained search in
that direction. *
**
*We can understand the meaning and significance of Sraddha better through
the opposite term for Sraddha, viz., Asraddha meaning no faith or
cynicism. Asraddha is the character of a cynic who has no faith in himself
or in the world around him. While Sraddha denotes a totality of positive
attitudes, a cynic is afflicted with a totality of negative attitudes.
Absecnce of faith spells the spiritual death of a man. It scorns all
values. Asraddha sets in when man is spiritually weakened through an
over-emphasis on material things and organ-based satisfactions and through
consequent neglect of the ever present datum of the divine Spark in man and
nature. One who is possessed of unflinching faith is called Sraddhavaan in
the Gita. He who lacks faith can never be regarded as qualified to receive
knowledge. Lord Krishna declares in the Gita, " One possessed of Shraddha
attains Knowledge,(Shraddhaavan Labhate Gyanam)". It is Sraddha that
gives impetus to one`s spiritual practice(Sadhana) and earnestness is the
test of Shraddha.*
*G.Balasubramanian*
