1. FOUNDATION STONES FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE:
From the Satsanghs of Saibanisa ji

http://www.angelfire.com/celeb2/saidarbar/pages/S3500055.htm

Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi, Saidarbar - Hyderabad.

240. The erupting volcano firstly destroys the plants and animals on
the mountain and the flowing lava causes further destruction. In the
similar way a bad person will first spoil those around him and then
society at large

241. A secret is shared between two and any third person knowing of
it , is no longer a secret

242. A crocodile in water is powerful enough to drag even an elephant
into water. The moment is out of water can be attacked even by a stray
dog. Therefore a wise man should estimate and assess his strengths
and weaknesses before fighting the enemy.

243. A wise man opens the door when fortune knocks on it, rather than
expecting it to make entry without opening the door.

244. Society has certain norms. Giving money to a poor man is called
charity and offering money to a rich one is called bribe. Wisdom
should be prevail while surviving in society.

245. Being good to society should give confidence to live, but should
not deprive the alertness to keep guarded from jealous people in and
around.

246. Earning money is a difficult job and even more difficult is the
task of protecting it. So a wise man will earn enough to fulfill his
basic necessities.

247. A minister's wisdom will come to be known when he attempts to
solve a crisis in the state. A doctor's knowledge will come to the
fore when he rescues a patient from critical condition. Under normal
conditions, everybody will be pretend to be great people.

248. As long as you are not crippled by attacking diseases or old age,
engage in discharging moral and social obligations towards your family
and society.

249. A single wheeled cart cannot move by itself. Single wheel of life
cannot move by itself unless is supported and aided by God's grace.

3. SAI IN DREAMS:
http://ebeacon.ettitudemedia.com

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by
SaiBaNiSa Ji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF
SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's
spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary
and presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

28-05-1994

I prayed SAI to give me a message for the Saibandhus.
SAI said -
Did you ever think of the porter lifting the full bag containing
the rice grain meant for the family? Ensure that he is rewarded
minimum enough to enable him to have one square meal of the
day for his family.

Be liberal in giving money for the physical help rendered.

Reward the labor suitably.

29-05-1994

I asked Baba to tell me more on Sai philosophy.
SAI said -
I cannot isolate myself from the place where poor and hungry
are being fed in my name.
I recollected the words of Baba from the 38th chapter of Sai
Satcharita where in Baba used to prepare food by Himself
and served HIS devotees.

Of all the charities, feeding the poor is supreme.

15-06-1994

Yesterday, there was difference of opinion amongst our
friends. I prayed Baba to tell me from whom should I
distance myself. As usual Baba appeared in the form of
an unknown person and advised -

To keep aloof from a person who believes in slaughtering
neighbor's goat secretly in the middle of night and also
from a person who is tilling soil with three donkeys.

Later I tried to analyze the content of the words. Baba
meant not to befriend those who indulge in stealing, telling
lies and lazy ones.

Friendship is to be reciprocated selectively.

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:
(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)
"Shashi": shashi_31@yahoo.com

23. Human Body is Dharmakshetra

Being born as human, we must renounce the attachment
at least at the time of death. Our union with God is
spontaneous if we realize this fact. If we attain the state
of Godhood, we will become a liberated soul. If we
come out from the sense of `Myness' and Egoism, we
will reach Sai without any sort of meditation and trance.

Human birth itself is an instrument for attaining "Moksha".
Instead of attaining salvation or God-realization, we are
ourselves ruining our chances. We must know that these
bodies did not exist before nor will they exist in future
and in the interim period they will be changing at every
moment as every one born, passes through childhood,
youth and old age. The man, who is endowed with
equanimity, performs his duty and becomes free from
vices in his life time itself. When our Buddhi transcends
the mire of delusion and is confused by having conflicting
views, becomes poised and firmly fixed on God, then
we will attain Godhood. This is possible only in Human
birth.

The Human body is transitory, unreal, limited and at
the destruction of the perishable nor should have a
desire to maintain the perishable. This is discrimination.
So we must know that Human body is perishable.
When we discriminate the Self from the body, the
desire for salvation is aroused, and we feel that our
own Self is different from the body. Human body has
been bestowed upon us only to realize God. So being
born as human being, we must all strive to realize God.
Human beings are specially endowed with the
discrimination to get themselves released from the
bondage of birth and death to eternal bliss.

Sai through Reincarnations

Life after death:

(2)Physical Training Instructor subjected to vengeance:

A physical Training Instructor with a gender bias never
encouraged girl students to participate in sports and
other activities. The Instructor in his next birth was a
highly placed officer and the same set of five girls was
reborn to him as daughters. He died with an unfulfilled
desire to have a male issue and suffered from Paralysis.
The girls wanted to see him suffer. They got an
opportunity to take their revenge in their next life.

(3)A mad man lying uncared in the streets:

This person was habitual drunkard having all possible
the vices. He forced his wife to work as a laborer and
forced his blind mother to beg alms. He ultimately met
his end in the streets in a fully drunken
state. He was in the next birth, a mad man roaming and
placed on the streets with out any shelter or support of
the kith and kin for his survival and food.

(4)A six year old squatting on the floor unable to sit or walk:

The above stated person, in his past life was a child lifter.
He had kidnapped children, subjected them to physical
torture and later forced them to beg on the streets. By night
he used to collect all the money from the hapless children.
He was stoned to death when people saw him breaking the
hands of a child. He was then reborn as a handicapped child
to a beggar. He was abandoned in a Railway Station and a
courteous couple shifted him to an orphanage.

SANATANA DHARMA -NEWS FROM ABROAD:
Tony Blair Visits Neasden Temple
sify.com
LONDON, ENGLAND, April 26, 2006: British Prime
Minister Tony Blair, accompanied by his wife Cherie Blair,
visited the Swaminarayan Mandir, the largest traditional Hindu
temple outside India, at Neasden. Blair spent time on
Tuesday evening appreciating the masterpiece of exotic
design and workmanship of the temple that rises above
London's skyline. Replete with luminescent white pinnacles
and glittering marble pillars, it stands as a beacon for Hindus,
both young and old throughout the world. Later addressing
about 700 devotees in the temple, Blair spoke movingly
about the goodwill, warmth and sense of peace one got in
the temple premises and lauded India's rich cultural
heritage and deep democratic roots. He said India had
shown to the world that democracy could be successfully
practiced despite its vast population and diverse culture.
India's High Commissioner, Kamlesh Sharma was present
on the occasion. Almost 2,820 tons of Bulgarian limestone
and 2,000 tons of Italian carrara marble were shipped to
India, carved by over 1,500 craftsmen and reshipped to
London for building the temple. In all, 26,300 carved
pieces were assembled in less than three years. Since its
opening in August 1995, the temple has attracted over
three million visitors.

6. SAIBANISA OFFERS PRANAMS TO "LORD SIVA"

SHRI KEDARNATH in Himalayas

Among the twelve JyotirLingas of Bhagwan Shankara, the
one at Kedarnath is located in the snow-covered area of
the Himalayas. This JyotirLinga can be visited only during
six months in a year. From the month of Vaisakha to Ashwin
(Ashwiyaja) is the time when pilgrims can make the journey
to this. The rest of the year it is too cold and the Himalayas
are covered in snow. Therefore, the Kedarnath temple remains
closed for pilgrims.

During the month of Karthik, due to snowfall, Sri Kedareshwar
idol is brought out of the temple after lighting a ghee lamp,
"Nanda Deepa". Then the temple is closed for the winter. From
the month of Karthik to Chaitra Sri Kedareshwar's abode is
shifted to the Urvi Math, which is in the valley. In the month of
Vaishakh, when the temple doors are opened the lamp "Nanda
Deepa" still keeps burning. People come to see this glorious lamp
and the Shiva devotees consider themselves blessed.

Hardwar is considered to be the gateway to heaven, the magic
city or Mayapur. Ahead of Haridwar, there are holy places
like Rishikesh, Devprayag, Sonprayag and Triyugi Narayan,
Gaurikund. To Kedarnath one has to pass through these places.
Some part of the journey is motorable and the rest has to be
walked upon. This part of the way through the Himalaya is very
difficult. But devotees go through all this with dedication and
determination. They overcome all the difficulties with
perseverance.

To climb the steep path, some use mules, some use Dolis
(swing like carriages) and some others use walking sticks.
There are arrangements for acquiring these here. There are
chowltries and resting places in between for the tired yatris.
At Gaurikund, the pilgrims get to have a bath in the hot
springs there. After this, they take a Darshan of the head-less
Ganesha. It is here in Gaurikund, that Lord Shiva cut off
Ganesha's head with the trident and later replaced with the
head of an elephant.

A little farther from Gaurikund, near the snow-clad mountains,
on the banks of River Mandakini, the Kedarnath temple of
the glorious JyotirLinga of Lord Shankar becomes visible.
This is where Lord Shankar had made His abode. The
shivalinga here is self-manifest and not installed by anyone.

7. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:
hiradhi@yahoo.com
4/21/2006 10:41:04 -0600

I would love to share my experience of how Baba has
kept his promise to me by going ahead of me and
making the crooked and difficult path to a straight
cake walk. It may seem exaggerating but what I am
going to share is the "Truth" which I have experienced
all by myself.

I used to attend to SaiBaba's pooja's and aarthi with
my mother as a kid. I even to this day sing all His aarthi's
(to be frank I don't know what exactly the meanings are,
as they are Marathi ones). But all of a sudden after my
Engineering I lost interest in pooja and I started listening
to some people saying, we have been Baba's devotees
for decades but He did nothing etc etc. I too from the
hardships I went through in my personal and professional
fronts, felt that "Why should I pray to Him who doesn't
bother to listen to our needs and respond in time". In fact
I stopped praying.

My grandmother and my good friends told me, if we
believe strongly and do Sai Satcharitha Parayan, He would
make our wish come true. I never believed because I was
in the extreme end of depression and I gave up.

Exactly 3 weeks before today I happened to accompany
my sister to SaiBaba's temple near my house. I saw a big
Baba's painting over there in which he shows his ONE
finger and the caption says "Sabka Maalik Ek". But as I
was singing the 6 pm aarthi there I could clearly see the
same picture of His, telling me, in "ONE" month your
wish is going to come true". The same night I had a dream
where I saw Baba in white kafani and saying "Even if you
forget me, I am going to be with you". Exactly in telugu
He said "Nuvvu nannu marchipoyina Nenu ninnu
vadhileyanu".

Then after a week it was my birthday and I was not so
happy even though I threw a party, spent time laughing
with friends. I was asked by mom to do namaskar to
God atleast on my birthday. So I just prostrated in front
of Baba and said "You are going to give my Gift in just
ONE week I can't wait for One month". Now my friends!!
You may think I was too pushy and first of all you might be
thinking what my wish would have been?

So, after 2 days I got a pending document from my employer
in USA and I whose case was pending in the Consulate for
a while, decided to go for the visa interview on exactly the
day I have set target as One week from my Birthday. I asked
none other than Baba to accompany me and took morning
first flight to Chennai. My parents were worried that I was
going all alone, but I know "Baba" is with me.

As soon as I got down at Chennai, I took a prepaid taxi
and no surprise I saw Baba's photo in the taxi, and I said
to myself "There you go!!" After I went to Consulate I
was not allowed in, though it was time, later when my turn
came, I had an executive bag with me which was not allowed
in. So I was worried that I had to go out of the gate and I was
persuading the guard to keep my bag, he straight away refused.
I could very clearly hear as though Baba was standing with me
and telling me "It's Ok, let us go out and deposit it somewhere".
After walking for a furlong I found a tea stall where I requested
them to keep that bag. I came running and again stood in line
and again when I went in, they checked and my handbag had
lipstick and comb, they said I can't take them in too. I was
just about to argue and again I heard Him say "Come We
will go and leave these too" and again I came in. After getting
in, after all these reversal acts I was a bit worried and tensed
too that I may not answer the officer properly or confidently.
As I stood in line, I again heard Him say "That moment,
that time, what you are supposed to speak I will" and to
my surprise He spoke through me and guess what! I got
my H1 visa stamped!

After the interview I took an auto where I saw Baba's
photo there in auto too. I immediately went to Mylapore
Saibaba temple and the specialty of the temple is you can
touch Baba's idol and garland Him and do your own pooja.
After a decade I suppose with all my heart I offered prayers
to Baba and came back to airport. I had to wait there for
3-4 hrs for my flight I was just thinking what will I do all
alone and I just happened to sit in front of Airport manager's
room and I could see a really big SaiBaba's photo there
blessing with His both hands. I was just seeing that photo
and thanking Him for making the "Impossible to Possible"
that too all the time standing with me. Now I know He
would be with me forever.

My friends please don't get discouraged by small tribulations
in life. There is definitely the Supreme power, Who knows
in and out what is happening with us. We need not even
discuss or disclose it to Him; He knows when to give
what!!!
I sincerely request that though we are put through many
hardships, just "Believe miracles do happen"! It's easier
said than done....but He made me do it, and so will
HE do it for each one of us.

In the Sweet name of Baba, I pray and thank "All my
friends and people who have really re-established my
love, affinity and trust for SaiBaba".
Jai Sai Nath Maharaj!

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA
swamymain@yahoo.com
4/23/2006 14:49:18 -0700

Sai Ram. In the unripe stages of the soul's spiritual
development, it is but natural to talk of this path being
better than that path. All paths are existing for the soul
to realize its true nature. And when that realization takes
place, the soul and the path disappear! Or from another
angle, the distinction between the actor, the acted upon and
the action disappears and it is realized that all are aspects of
the same Whole, Unity. Sai Ram.

"From the brief description given above about this
Upanishad, any one can see how difficult it is to translate
this Upanishad in a vernacular language, and bring out its
exact meaning. Das Ganu translated it in Marathi 'Ovi'metre,
verse by verse, but as he did not comprehend the gist or
essence of the Upanishad, he was not satisfied with his
performance. He therefore consulted some learned men
regarding his doubts and difficulties and discussed with
them at great length. They did not solve them nor did they
give him any rational and satisfactory explanation. So
Das Ganu was a little restless over this matter."

Sai Ram. Bookish knowledge cannot help unless it is
supplemented by experience. Thus, the sweetness of
sugar cannot be communicated to some one without
giving that person a little sugar to experience its taste.
At the same time, simple experience without the ability
to discriminate or differentiate is also not useful since
the experience needs to be communicated through
language. For example, a small child also experiences
the sweetness of sugar or the bitterness of neem, but
has no words to express. It conveys its experience
with facial grimaces or by licking its tongue.

Thus the need for both Jnana and Karma is seen even
in day-to-day life and thus it is not surprising that
spiritual seekers get confused about the path to be
taken when setting out on their sadhana. Sai Ram.

SadGuru only competent and Qualified to Explain

"As we have seen, this Upanishad is the quintessence
of the Vedas. It is the science of self-realization, it is
the scythe or weapon which can rend asunder the
bondage of life and death, and make us free.
Therefore, he thought, that He who has Himself
attained self-realization, can only give him the true
or correct interpretation of the Upanishad. When
nobody could satisfy Das Ganu, he resolved to
consult Sai Baba about this." Sai Ram. Das Ganu
did the right thing since he knew Sai's unwavering
Brahmananda (Spiritual Bliss) and thus knew His
unique position to add the practical touch to the
theoretical explanations of the pandits. Sai Ram.

"When he got an opportunity to go to Shirdi, he
saw Sai Baba, prostrated himself before Him, and
mentioned his difficulties about the Ishavasya
Upanishad and requested Him to give the correct
solution. Sai Baba blessed him and said- "You
need not be anxious, there is no difficulty about the
matter, the mind-servant of Kaka (Kakasaheb Dixit)
will solve your doubts at Vile Parle, on your way home".
The people, who were present then and heard this,
thought that Baba was joking and said, "How could
an illiterate maid-servant solve the difficulties of this
nature", but Das Ganu thought otherwise. He was sure,
that whatever Baba spoke, must come true, Baba's
word was the decree of the Brahma (Almighty)."
Sai Ram. Faith in one's Sadguru is important. The word
Sadguru signifies True Guru (who is our indweller but
has taken an external form to help us see Him inside our
heart when we are ready). Baba also knew the faith of
Das Ganu and thus was sure that he will benefit from
the lesson. Sai Ram.

We will continue with the gems in the next issue. Sai Ram.

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba
use to play with children and used to tell stories to them?
I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained
with good stories. For the last 2 years I have told you
about Lord Krishna's Leelas and Lord Rama Story.
Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my childhood.

Let's See On Which Side the Camel Sits

Once a greengrocer and a potter jointly hired a camel
and each filled one side of the pannier with his goods.
The camel as he went along the road took a mouthful
every now and then, as he had a chance, from the
greengrocer's bag of vegetables. This provoked a laugh
from the potter, who thought he had the best of the
bargain.

But the time came for the camel to sit, and he naturally
sat on the heavier side, bearing down on the pots, and
also to have his mouth free to operate on the bag of
greens. This caused the pots to break in the bag, and then
the greengrocer had all the laugh to himself.

10. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES:

Venkata Subba Rao Lanka lvsrao2004@yahoo.co.uk

4/20/2006 19:33:15 +0100

Shri Shirdi Sai's Consciousness

The attaining of Sri Shirdi Sai's consciousness is a vital
subject and it calls for a study of Sri Sai Satcharita in a
mood of renunciation and refuge in the LOTUS FEET
of Shri Shirdi Sai under the guise of unalloyed devotion.

Every chapter in Sri Sai Satcharita depicts the way to
seek refuge in the Lord's FEET to gain Paramartha
- Salvation.

It was categorically emphasized many times by Lord
Shri Sai Baba that HE is Allpervasive and Omniscient
and hence it infers that to get Sri Sai's Consciousness
(benefit), it is immaterial whether or not the devotee is
in the crowd around HIM. Long after HIS Mahasamadhi,
even today and at all times, when one consciously Pray
unto HIM from the bottom of the heart and invoke HIS
aid, the devotee experiences HIS presence and response
by way of clearance or decision on which the devotee
prayed HIM.

It is a known fact, clear from many scriptures besides
what is understood from Shri Sai Satcharita itself, that
one has to reap what one sows and there is no escape
unless one suffers and squares up one's committed debts
and dealings, vide, ch.47 in Sai satcharita, the story of
Veerabhadrappa and Chennabasappa and it was told
by Sri Sai Baba Himself.

In fact, the past actions are the basis for the present
incidents. In other words, the troubles and happiness
we face in the life are our own deeds.

Evidently, in order to achieve Lord Sri Sai's Grace
or say Consciousness, one ought to study and meditate
upon every episode in Sai Satcharita with unalloyed
devotion, and assimilate it in the inner-heart with an
inclination to reach Shri Sai Baba's LOTUS FEET.

The human predicament in the world is linked by the
preceptors to a thirsty person. The transcendental
aspect of GOD is like water of OCEAN, which will
not quench one's thirst. As far as His incarnations
are concerned, we are all removed from them from
time to time. The Antaryamin is like ground water
which can be tapped only with some effort drink to
one's content.

This universe is nothing but illusion and only the
Real Absolute that exists. In Shri Sai Satcharita,
the Blessed Author stated a novel form of worship:

1) Wash Sadguru's Feet In the form of TEARS OF JOY.

2) Besmear HIS Body With Sandal paste of PURE LOVE.

3) Cover HIS Body With cloth of TRUE FAITH.

4) Offer LOTUSES In the form of 8 Satwik EMOTIONS.

5) Offer Fruits In the form of CONCENTRATED MIND.

6) Decorate HIM In the form of DEVOTION& waist Band
of Bhakti

7) Namaskar HIM Place Neck (Head) at HIS TOES.

After such blissful worship - Pray - to introvert our mind -
turn it inwards - to bestow awareness to discriminate
between unreal and real and non-attachment for all worldly
things and thus enable us to get Self-Realization. We
surrender Body Consciousness and Ego; make our Eyes
YOURS, so that to destruct pleasure and pain, control
our body and mind as YOU (Sri SAI) will wish and let
our mind gets Rest in YOUR HOLY LOTUS FEET.

When once Shri Sai's Grace/Consciousness spreads, the
devotee remain in HIS BLISS SUPREME, whether in
waking dream or sleep state and all happenings in the
life tends towards the merger of same in the Absolute Form.

To cast HIS SPELL &AWOKE the being to Realization
of a higher rhythm and a deeper purpose of life lies
hidden infinite treasures of spirit.

MAY HIS INFITE GRACE/CONSCIOUSNESS
SHINE UPON this humble effort to pay homage to
HIS RESPLONDENT LIFE & TEACHINGS.

BOW TO SHRI SAI PEACE BE TO ALL.

15. EDITORIAL.

Things impressed me from this Magazine:

A secret is shared between two and any third person knowing of it,
is no longer a secret

A crocodile in water is powerful enough to drag even an elephant into
water. The moment is out of water can be attacked even by a stray dog.
Therefore a wise man should estimate and assess his strengths and
weaknesses before fighting the enemy.

A single wheeled cart cannot move by itself. Single wheel of life
cannot move by itself unless is supported and aided by God's grace.

Satsang Shri Sadguru Sainath Mandir Shiwaji Nagar, Pune-5 (Sai Le ela Magazine April 1977)

Shri Sadguru Sainath Mandir
Shiwaji Nagar, Pune-5

[Original article written in Marathi by Shri S. M. Garje
and published in Shri Sai Leela magazine for the
month of Jan. 76]

At present there are three Sai temples in Pune. One of
them is at Swar Gate, one is at Khadkee and the third
one is at Shiwaji Nagar, Out of these temples, the one
at Shiwaji Nagar is the oldest and many people are
devoted to it. Its history also is strange, curious and
thrilling.
This temple stands on the bank of the Mutha river in the
Shiwaji Nagar area in the vicinity of Rasane chawl. Recently
one road has been constructed in the rear side of this temple
and because of a big retaining wall constructed by the side
of the river, the flood water of the river does not come near
the temple, otherwise in olden days the flood water of the
river, used to come as far as the temple every year during
the monsoon. If we turn left from the new road, we first
come to the Rasane chawl. If we move a little ahead and
turn our face to the right then we at once get the Darshan
of Shri Sai Baba. This darshan gives us the satisfaction of
having taken the trouble of coming to the temple. Shri
Damodarpant Rasane was a Sai devotee, who had the
good fortune to have lived with Shri Sai Baba during the
latter's life time. The Rasane chawl belongs to Shri
Damodarpant. Round about 1945 Shri Nanasaheb Rasane,
the son of Damodar pant converted two of the rooms in the
Rasane chawl into a temple and started there the worship of
Shri Sai Baba. Since that time the worship of Shri Baba is
going on at this place regularly. The morning and evening
aarati became a regular feature and hence devotees started
flocking at the site. Sessions Judge of Pune, Shri Patil, Shri
Chougule, a judge from Helgaum, Shri V. Shankar Mudliar,
Shri P. S. Rao, Shri Ranganathan, Shri Bendre, Shri Gaikwad,
Shri Takawane guruji can be mentioned as the illustrious
devotees, attending the temple. Shri Nikam, from Khed
was a Jamadar in the Police Deptt. He was known to
be a sincere Sai devotee and hence he was called by Shri
Nanasaheb Rasane to join the activities of the temple.
Shri Nikiim accordingly responded to the call of Shri
Nanasaheb Rasane and resigning his job in the Police
Dept, he dedicated his entire life to this temple. Shri Nikam
is closely connected with this temple. He has pie ented to this
temple one Talisman obtained from Shri Sai Baba due to Shri
Nikam's good fortune.
The story of how Shri Nikam came to get this Talisman is
also very interesting and noteworthy for all Sai devotees
and hence it would not be out of place to narrate it here.

One girl from Shirdi named Kashibai, was married to
a gentalman staying in Niphad. Due to her ill luck Kashibai's
husband died within a few years from her marriage. She was
pregnant at the time of her husband's death. She confined
at the proper time and gave birth to a son, who was named
as Madhav. When her son completed one year, Kashibai
returned to Shirdi from Niphad and started stayed with her
father. As Kashibai had no means of livelihood, she used to
work on some body's field fo rthe whole day and used to
earn some money Kashibai's son was more or less a
problem for her. There was nobody at her house, who
could look after him. Hence she found out a solution for
that. She used to leave her son, in the morning in the Masjid
and go away to the field for work. In the evening when
she would return from the work, she used to pick up her
son from the Masjid and then she used to go home. In the
evening, she used to bow down to Shri Sai Baba before
going home. As Kashibai used to leave Madhav in the
Masjid for the whole day, she never had any worry about
him. She used to work in the field whole day and return
in the evening. This became a sort of a routine for Kashibai
for four or five years. After Madhav attained the age of five,
Shri Baba started giving him a rupee every day. In his turn,
Madhav also used to attend to Shri Baba's petty jobs.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

Once Dikshit said: "Baba! I am in a sordid, and helpless
state to extend any assistance to my brother". At that time
Baba said: "I am in a position to help him". Baba as a saint
appeared at Bandra and said to Dikshit's brother: "I am
in a position to help you". Baba's all pervasiveness is
manifest in several such instances

We should not be influenced by the magic spell of trickster
and magicians. Some perform certain tricks by their worship
of evil forces and attain satanical powers. We cannot call
them God or God's Incarnations. The readers may well note
that the amazing miracles that Sri Sainath exhibited, are all
for the sake of helpin His children and devotees who are in
distress. They are not done for the sake of living, fame,
wealth or achieving any other material benefits. They are
done without an iota of selfishness. Baba never looked at
the wonderful super natural powers, endowed to Him by
the grace of His Guru, for nearly 40 years. He chided
people like Kusha Bhav, who cheated the people by
producing sweet fruits etc. He got their bracelets removed
and there by deprived them of their super natural powers.

There is no distinction between religions before Baba. He
never taught any one to change their religion. Baba sent
one of his devotees, Appakulkarni, to go to the place
Nivas and worship Lord Siva. Shyama, a devotee, was
asked to serve Vani:- Megha was ordained to worship
Khandoba (the incarnation of Siva). Sai chided Nana Saheb
Chandorkar for not offering his worship to Lord Dattatreya
during his journey to Shirdi. Baba's aim was to exhibit
equality to all irrespective of their way of devotion. A
devotee of Sai is the one seeking and drinking the divine
nectar at the lotus feet of the Supreme Guru.

Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavadgita thus: (9-11-13)

'Fools indulge in insulting Me without knowing My all
pervasive nature in this creation when I assume the form
of a human being.
Oh, Arjuna! All Noble souls seek Me in the entire
universe, worship Me in then minds, and keep themselves
aloof from all the worldly cares and anxieties".
(Gita 9-11,13)

The sixteenth chapter of Bhagavadgita deals with all
those who are blessed by God and are m possession
of divine wealth and those possessed by evil powers.
All people in the universe are divided into two categories:
Fools and noble men. An illiterate person cannot be
considered as a fool. Similarly, an educated person
cannot be construed as a wise person. The noble and
wise have steadfast devotion towards the Almighty
with a philosophical and spiritual outlook. The people,
devoid of such qualities, are diametrically opposed to
all good things in life and have only ill will towards
others. One can obtain the genuine wealth of education
and spiritualness with the grace of God only. Knowing
the truth about God and Godly Saints is the real
education, which enables them to attain God.
There is no other alternative way to realize Him.

Satsang ATTACHMENT (from Sai Leela Magazine August 1976)

ATTACHMENT
There was a goldsmith in a certain village. He was sick and
bedridden for a long time. As such inspite of anxiety he was
unaware about the market-position of gold. Once the end
was to grasp him. The learned physician attended him as he
had hyper-pyrexia ' i. e. high body temperature. Gazing at
the thermometer the doctor murmured temperature" is 105"
[ i. e. the body temperature was 105° F] The goldsmith who
was thinking about market-price of gold per-tola heard these
words from the doctor 1. e. '* is '105' Immediately the
goldsmith who was on the verge of death, ordered his son
standing near by :
"Sell and dispose off all the gold now. We had purchased it
at the rate of eighty. Now it is 105."
And with these words, alas, the goldsmith crossed the ultimate
end of life and died.
It is a world-wide accepted fact that whatsover we have
sought for during the whole of our life, the same wish and
desire strikes our mind at the hour of death.
The next birth mainly depends upon this very desire. Let
our mind therefore be directed to the holy-lotus feet of
God SRI SAI BABA. He will positively relieve us from
these sort of rebirths. Then we may be a part and participle
of His ever flourshing feet in next birth.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

Fourth Chapter

Baba's assumption of the state of Samadhi for 72 hours (in 1886),
and the aftermath of His condition have been detailed about in this
part. He informed Mahalsapathi while leaving His body-" I am going
to see God" and after entering His body again he proclaimed- "I saw
God (Allah)": Seeing, God and attaining Godliness mean only one
thing. His becoming Divine. From his present physical form, Baba
attained the state of Omnipresence with the blessings of His Guru,
Venkusa. After the state of Samadhi, He could see Parabrahma in
His Self as well as in others and became Parabrahma Himself.
He is now Omnipotent. Even now Sai Baba exists at the same
place where He used to live earlier in His physical form.

Lord Sri Krishna observed the wicked Dussasana trying to remove
the robes of Draupadi in the court of Kauravas and prayers I
Draupadi of to protect her, even though he appeared to be playing the
game of dice with his consort Rukmini. She could not understand the
significance of the words of Krishna,

Aksbayamastu, as he threw the dice. (A blessing granting infinite
number of robes). Lord Sri Krishna rescued her at the critical
moment.

As Lord Krishna was Omnipresent and Omnipotent he could perform
this miracle. Sai Baba could observe Chandorkar who was suffering
from intense thirst on the hill of Harischandra, while conversing with
His devotees at Shirdi. The people around Him could not grasp the
significance of the words of Baba! "Arre! Nana is suffering from thirst.
How shall I let him die!". Baba in the form of a hunter appeared at
the Harischandra hill and advised Nana to drink the water under the
stone he was sitting and soon disappeared. His devotees like
Chandorkar, Upasani Baba, Dad Ganu, Dhumal, Norke, Nachne,
Sathe Kaka Dikshit etc., had] observed and experienced many
such incidents in their lives.

When Kaka Dikshit stood in the presence of Baba in, utter desolation,
Baba assured him saying; "(Kaka! Why do you feel s sad? Are your
burdens and sorrows not mine?".

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

Single-minded devotion is not possible in one life even
if we seek refuse under a great Sadguru (God's incarnation)
in view of the sins committed by us in our many past lives.
But, a great Guru will never leave us in the lurch and will be
with us always, protecting us at every moment and showing
us the right path.

Sai Baba summoned Nana Saheb Chandorkar to His
presence and when Nana inquired about the reason;
Baba replied; "Nana! Do I call every one? I have
had associations with you for the past four lives"
Justice M.B. Rege surrendered to Sri Sai Baba as His child.
While conversing with him one day, Baba said, "My child,
I shall grant whatever you desire. You may ask me your
wish". Rege refused to seek any favour. But when Baba
persisted Rege finally expressed his wish as follows: "Baba!
Grant me the boon to live with you in all my future lives and
further you will not leave me even for a moment." Sainath
then replied; " My child! I never left you for the past ten
thousand years. How can I leave you here after?"

Once Shyama (Madhava Rao Deshpande) seemed to be
angry with Baba when the latter twisted his cheek. Baba
then jokularly said, "I didn't touch you for the past seventy
two lives of yours. Why are you so angry now if I just twist
your cheek once?".

When Shyama introduced prof. G.G. Narke to Baba, He
promptly said: "What! Why do you introduce him to me?
I know him for the past thirty two lives." We come across
several such anecdotes and incidents in the life history of
Sri Sai Baba. Many may have doubts about rebirths.
Some do not believe in rebirth after leaving the mortal
body. If one does not have faith and respect for the age-old
scriptures, it is of no use explaining to them. Let us
recapitulate an interesting dialogue between Lord Sri
Krishna and Arjuna in the battlefield while preaching
Bhagavadgita.

Krishna says: " I taught this yoga to Surya (Sun God) in
the beginning who in turn taught to his son Vaivaswata
Manuvu, and that Manuvu taught it to Ikshwaku".

Then Arjuna inquired: "You are born now; how can I
believe your statement that you taught this Yoga to
Sun God, who was born earlier to you".

Then Sri Krishna replied:
"You and I were together in many lives but you are not
aware of them but I know every thing". (Gita 4-5)

From this one can understand that Barman, the Divine is
not limited to a particular time, place or country. Sai, who
is Omniscient and Omnipresent, knows the past, the present
and future. It is for this reason that all those who had close
association with Baba in their past lives, came closer to him.
Baba granted them all their desires. He corrected them,
moulded them, and elevated them spiritually.

To be contd....

Satsang COMPLETE SURRENDER by By Shri M. M. Amingad (Sai Leela Ma gazine August 1974)

COMPLETE SURRENDER

Man is an organised being having sensation and voluntary
motion typically distinguished from animal which is organised
and has life but apparently no knowledge, intellect or reasoning
power. This goes to prove that man is also an animal but a
social and an intellectual being having the power of reasoning.
This quality of sociability and intellectuality has segregated him,
and has made him hold his head high above all animal world.
But the seeds of Rise and Fall of man are sown and are latent
in this so-called boon of sociability and intellectuality as it
always is double-edged like a blade of a razor or a knife.

The sane man and the one whose line of thinking is right
and judicious will make the best use of these qualities to cross
the boundaries of all senses, the passions, the internal enemies
-Passion or lust (Anuraag), Anger or wrath (raag), jealousy or
malice (matsar), Pride or vanity (ahankar), greed or avarice
(lobha), enticement or infatuation (moha), and to keep them
within bounds. But this does not mean that one should not
possess these qualities. One should have these qualities to
make the best use of them to serve the noble cause such as,
speaking and establishing truth, protecting the weak and
fragile, to emancipate the suffering souls from their grief, to
free the poor souls from the clutches of the inhuman, vicious,
malicious, mischievous and sinful hands and at large in doing
good to the human society of which he is a part and parcel,
as he can discriminate between good and bad, well and ill
and justice and injustice and can try to imbibe and inculcate
the one and avert and abrogate the other. His judicious
power helps him to sublimate his senses and illuminate
thereby in him a sense of selflessness and selfless service
to the human society. Here his intellect works like a knife,
an inanimate object, in the hands of a doctor, that effects
operation on the living being and feels proud of itself for
having saved the life of an animate object. Here even this
inanimate object has the sense of joy and satisfaction of
having done some useful and yeoman service to the
humanity.

Satsang BLESSINGS OF SHRI SAI BABA

BLESSINGS OF SHRI SAI BABA

I am very glad to stale that I am very fortunate to have
the blessings and protection from Shri Sai Baba. Daily
I am performing His puja for the last 33 years. I and my
family apply UDI on our fore-heads regularly daily which
we procure from Shirdi. I have been a bhakta member
of the Sansthan so that I can get UDI thrice a year which
we get supplemented on necessary occasions. So far
there is no break in this practice UDi of Shri Sai Baba
protects me from all evils. I feel that Shri Sai Baba has
taken me under His kind wings. He protects me, saves
me from small and trifling sins and mistakes without any
untoward happenings. Those befalling on me on account
of my providence, which I have to clear up by suffering
the effects of the unfortunate events, are minimised. The
evil arrows shot by the destiny are mostly shielded by
Shri Sai Baba and those which escape His shield get
blunted, on account of His KRUPA DRISHTI. He also
gives strength and courage to endure these escaped
unhappy sufferings.

In daily life too He guides, gives protection and gives help
that is needed at the moment, I can site so many
experiences in this, manner.

I am narrating here a recent experience.

My birth-date is 14 Oct. 1908. I am now in 69th year. My
last birthday fell on 14-10-1976. On my birthday the
members of my family celebrate the same by giving presents
to me and by arranging a feast in the house. At the time of
this birthday, I was residing at Dombivali with my younger
son. On this occasion there was no movement in the house
for this celebration. My son, who is a lecturer in a college,
as usual went to his college and returned at about 4 P. M.
My daughter-in-law, who is a teacher in a secondary school,
went to School as usual and returned at about the same time.
On this day therefore I was in a very uneasy mood as I was
remembering the past celebrations. To avoid the disgust and
the grief, I sat before the portrait and bust of Shri Sai Baba
and offered prayers. I prayed Him to 'grant His blessings and
remove my grief and uneasiness and also give me courage to
bear such displeasing events in future'.

But Shri Sai Baba had another thing in His mind. In the evening,
while I was offering prayers before Shri Sai Baba, my son and
daughter-in-law came to me and stated that they are
remembering that this is my birthday viz. 14-10-1976 and that
they are going to celebrate the same. They showed me the
present viz. a piece of Dhoti and cloth for zabba and told me
that they have also arranged for sweet meals. My son also gave
me a letter of greeting for my birthday, received from my son
(another one) serving in a foreign country. With his birthday
greeting he had also sent a postal order for five pounds as a
token birthday present. My son had arranged to post the letter
on such a day that the letter and the gift may reach me on my
birthday.

Thus, on account of KRUPA of Shri Sai Baba, the day of
uneasy mood and disgust had by miracle turned into joy and
happiness. I am confident that this miracle happened only due
to His KRUPA, and blessings.

I AM ALWAYS GREATFUL TO BABA for His blessings.
He is helping me to lead a contented life. Under His guidance
I am leading a happy life in my old age.
