Satsang Thought for the day

Do not live your life on another's expectations
Live life to GOD'S expectations.
You then learn that life is not to expect anything,
Life is given to you to give.
Expectations hurt, giving heals.
Expectations disappoint,
Giving relieves.
Expectation is to be human. Giving is divine.
Give up being human and attain GOD.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

Several foreign philosophers like Max Muller, George
Bernard Shaw, etc. extolled the great virtues of our ancient
religion and culture. In the words of George Bernard Shaw:

"The apparent multiplication of Gods is bewildering at
first glance, but you soon discover that they are all the same
God in different aspects and functions. There is always one
utter most God who defies personification.
This makes Hinduism the most tolerant religion in the world,
because its own transcendent God includes all possible Gods."

The first chapter further deals in detail with the term God
as propounded in the Smrities, Sruties and Puranas which are
the-roots of our ancient Hindu religion and establishes that
there is only one Universal God and different Gods do not
exist.

Second Chapter:

This deals with God's physical forms, and His Avatars
(Incarnations.) An Incarnation, a learned Saint, a person who
knows Brahmam are all considered to be Gods in our presence
by virtue of their powers of attaining Godliness. There is no
discrimination between them in their State, Stature or Status.
Whoever possesses such extraordinary qualities and powers
as witnessed in the Almighty, will be God. God who is Nirakara
becomes Sahara in order to quench the thirst of love of His
devotees. The Sahara form of God is not confined to a particular
country or time. It appears at all times as and when the need
arises and protects His children.

The chapter thus underlines the need of God's Incarnation
assuming the form of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi.

The ten incarnations of God such as Matsya (fish form),
Kurma (form of tortoise), Narasimha (form of man and lion) etc.,
Kapila, Dattatreya, Gautam Buddha, and Sri Rama Krishna
Parama Hamsa are no way different from the incarnation of Sri
Sai Baba. Let my fellow devotees not be under illusion that there
were several Gods and Sri Sai Baba has been the added to the
list. It is always good for them to believe that God, the Supreme
Power had assumed different forms and shall assume any form
with His unlimited, myriad and miraculous powers at any time,
as and when the occasion arises.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

My Dear fellow devotees,

I am indeed fortunate enough to place this booklet in

the hands of all the devotees as directed by Sri Sai Baba
in an attempt to answer the question:
"Is Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi also a God? Are the present

Gods not enough?", posed to me by a friend of mine.
I wrote some articles on this issue in Sai Leela, (a monthly

magazine published from Chirala) in 1953, and in Sai Sudha
(Published from Mylapore, Chennai,) in 1957-'58, At the
behest of my fellow devotees, this small publication is
brought out compiling all those articles with certain
additions and modifications.
I am a small and insignificant person to detail about God,

His Incarnations and the Holy Saints. One should be One
with that Supreme Being to speak about Him. It shall always
remain incomplete if a small person like me ventures to talk
about Him. Words seem to express a fraction of entirety.
The Eternal Truth can neither be comprehended nor

expressed but can only be experienced. God is the central
cause of all our actions and its effects. It is Sri Sai Baba's
wish that makes one to raise a question and it is His wish
only that prompts some one else to answer it. I earnestly
believe that this is a special mission entrusted to me by my
Guru, Sri B.V. Narasimha Swamiji a great Saint. He
earned the reputation as the modern Nana Saheb
Cbandorkar (a close disciple of Sri Sai Baba) and also
called Sai Vyasa by Sai devotees. He was the Founder
President of All India Sai Samaj, Mylapore, Chennai.

Let the learned pardon me for my audacity in talking

about a divine personality, Sri Sai Baba,

The book is divided into four chapters.

First Chapter:

In answer to the second question of my friend:

(Are the present Gods not enough?, It has been established
that there is only one Supreme God, who is Omniscient,
Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and does not possess any
specific form.
The other Godly forms (called by my friend as Gods in

his question) are His Avatars (Incarnations.)

Hinduism is the most ancient of all religions in the world

with wider scope, goals, and objectives. It propounds
that this human life is the best form of all living beings.
If a person who believes in the existence of God (Theist)
meditates upon Him (God) with full faith and devotion

on any form the results are the same. They do not
depend upon the form of God, they worship. Bhagawan
Sri Adi Sankara, known as Shanmatacharya, has taught
us the truth that Saivism, Vaisbnavism, Saktism are all
accepted by Vedas and God can be worshipped in any
form as per his/her belief and the rewards shall be the
same. Our ancient Hindu religion has no rifts with other

religions. It exhibits a broad feeling of love and respect
for all other religions and absorbs all of them into its fold.
This is the reason for its survival till today and it will
survive forever.

PRASAMSA
(Appreciation)
My salutes are to the lotus feet of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba.

I feel it a privilege to write a few sentences appreciating
the holy and divine book written by Sri Bapatla Hanumantha
Rao Garu father of Sri. Bapatla Venkata Pardbasaradhy garu.
Both father and son who happened to be exemplary devotees
of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba and the real followers of Sri Sai's
preachings and the message preceptors and communicators to
the human world. They are themselves holy people and eligible
persons for receiving Sri Sai Baba's merciful love and protection
and in - turn bestow it to the society. They have shaped number
of people into staunch devotees of Sri Sai Baba and made lakh's
of people the pure and wholly dependent and ardent devotees
of Sri Sai Baba, so that millions of people are saved of their
worldly ailments.
They have cleared the minds of so many fellow devotees
regarding their devotion to Lord Sri Sai. Their gospel through
their innumerable holy books of Sri Sai has spread to the core
of the hearts of millions of devotees and saved them from
mental, physical and spiritual agonies by becoming devotees
of Sri Sai.

So it appears to us that Sri Sai Baba has selected them
for this divine mission. They are the blessed devotees. Now
Sri B.V. Pardbasaradhy garu is continuing his divine mission
inspite of his advanced age with the assistance of his family
members and disciples. Supreme is the donor. The donor of
life, life style, health, wealth, food and fortune. He is the donor
of medicine for ailments, and a doctor of preventive medicine,
giving treatment at various levels for needy devotees.

He is the judge of our behaviour and benevolent commander
shaping us into beings with humanism and divinity.

He is the Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent.
The Supreme Power embodies into nameless form having no
parents and of unknown origin expressing his Self as the teacher
and ruler having lakhs of years on age and divinity as his origin,
and called by his devotee Sri Mahalsapathi as Sai. Now all his
devotees worship him as Sri Sai Baba. He protected, loved all
who seeked his mercy and surrendered to him, no body in the
world is independent of divine power and have nobody is a bar
for his requirement of Baba's divine grace. Only the fact is some
people may realize it at a later stage of life.

Satsang Chapter 25 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram
Chapter 25 :::
Business ventures of Damu Annna
He who gets complete devotion oti Sai, all his dangers and miseries
are wiped out and his welfare is looked after by Baba.
*Once Damu Anna of Ahmednagar, with the intention of making
huge profit by trading in cotton as per his friend's advice, wrote to
Shama to seek the opinion of Baba. Even before the letter was
opened Baba remarked: 'Seth has gone mad. He wants to
conquer the skies. He is not content with what God has provided
him.' When this was informed, Damu came in person and while
massaging Baba's feet silently thought that if Baba agrees in this
proposition he could give a share of profit to Him. Immediately
Baba exclaimed: 'Hey! I never get entangled in these things'.
Damu dropped that business proposal. Again he wanted to trade
in grains, but Baba predicted that he would buy at the rate of 5
seers a rupee and sell at 7 seers a rupee, Damu dropped that
proposal also. In short it was proved that cotton and grains markets
crashed and Damu was saved by Baba as he trusted Him.
*One day Baba gave four mangoes to Damu and told him to give
it to his second wife, assuring him four children. The prediction
came true. Baba used to say: "Believe Me even after my passing
away. The bones in my tomb will assure you faith and courage. To
those who surrender to Me, my tomb will speak and move with
them. Do not worry that I am not amidst you. My bones will
discuss about your welfare. Trust in Me. I shall act tremendously
even from my tomb".
'Let us get insatiable desire in our tongue to utter your name" -
so prays Hemad Panth to Baba.
Baba once said that 'all the flowers in a mango tree do not turn
in to mangoes. Only a few do so. Like wise the people who come
here (to Baba).'
By narrating how Baba after His mahasamadhi got him back the
diamond nose stud the very next day of its loss, Damu narrates
that Baba protects His devotees intensely even after shedding
His mortal coils.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

Bearing a good character and good will power makes
one to reach his lotus feet even without their actual
knowledge or ambition.

Divine power bestow from him on people with sathvik
mind and mind without
Arishadvargas, the six evil characters of mind.

The percentage of marks obtained by the devotee depends
upon the sincere effort made by the student in his life time in
Sri Sai Baba's school. Industrious, faithful, knowledgeable and
holy student will get first class, and make lakhs of people pure
and wholly dependent and ardent devotees of Sri Sai Baba, so
that millions are saved of their worldly ailments by joining into
school of Baba.

Later in the school of Sri Sai Baba these students will be given
teacher posts working as guides to a number of other devotees
and beggars seeking his divine help.

In the universal school of the Supreme Sai, some devotees grow
to the stage of absorbing the divine power emnating from Him.
Some of them turn into Sarva Sanga Parityagies and Yogies.
Sun's rays are absorbed by plants and made into high energy
chemical bonds that make the lives of animals and plants alone
with Panchabhuthas. This process is called Photosynthesis or
Photophosphorelation.

Living beings get solar energy for life energy purpose and get
cosmic energy for origin of life. Supreme is the source, generator
and donor of the cosmic energy. Sri Mehar baba, Sri Sivananda
of Rishikesh and a number of greatest yogies recognised and
worshiped Sri Shirdi Sai Baba as the Supreme.

Sri Sivananda described Sai Baba as Parabrahma, Paramatma
and Sachidananda in his message to his devotees.

Mehar Baba told that Sri Sai Baba is his first Guru and He is
the Adiguru of this universe. He is Sakala Devata Swarupa
and Sakala Guru Swarupa.

Our pranamams to the lotus feet of Lord Shirdi Sai baba. Blessings
are to them who even chant His holy name.

Satsang Recite the Name of Shree Sai

Recite the Name of Shree Sai

Recite the name of Lord Sai incessantly.
For He is the Ghanashyama Krishna playing on the banks

of Yamuna of Samsaia. The perpetual music of His name is
perfumed by His form, His hue, His sentiment and His touch.
The spirit of Time itself is singing the enchanting incantations
of the Samaveda of His name in perfect rhyme and rhythm.
The Three worlds are dancing in tune, balancing themselves

with this music, mingling the sound of the ringing of the anklets
of His name. Let the symphony of the seven swaras merge in
the sentiment of-devotion latent in His name.
Let the mridanga, veena and karatalas be sounded in unison.

Let the entire existance of humanity be a melodious music. Let
the innermost recesses of heart reverberate with the sweet
singing of His name. The sweetness of His name is insatiable.
Let the amnta which is the sweetest rasa, taste a bit of the
nectar of His name. It is in veracity no name but a perpetual
prostration at the feet of the Lord. Let the entire
body-consciousness fade into bliss. Let the life in its entirity
be united with the name of the Lord. Let the mind obliterate
itself, while singing the glory of the name and unfold the

majesty of the inner Reality.
Let the voice be choked with emotion. Let the heart melt

and flow with the love and devotion. Let the name of the
Lord be inspired with the throbbing of the pranas. Let the
mind, intellect, and the T consciousness be lost in the
sentiment of love and rest enraptured there. The glory of
the Lord is auspicious and unlimited, but still it is bound in
the limitations of the "name". Let the abode of Vaikuntha

manifest itself and assume a form through this discipline of

Satsang MYSTERY OF BIRTH

28. From this narration it could be seen and it is evident
that all scriptures of all religions will speak alike. One
theory, one philosophy which lead to one and the same
goal and for the whole universe the Almighty is one and
that there is that Almighty. Different saints at different times
and in different parts of the world made their own individual
scriptures on philosophy and religion to their own group of
followers with a perspective idology as inspired in them by
God but all leading to one and the same goal.

29. That is LIFE- That is BIRTH- living and aim, the
beginning and the end. That is man's living and aim, the
beginning and the end.

30. I am Saidas the writer or the author of this article - an
insignificant man-an atom of Brahman brought into this world
by HIM with a purpose to fulfill my mission and thus made to
seek HIS LOTUS FEET, to meditate, dedicate and surrender
to HIM to attain salvation, Mukthi or Moksha.

31. With the intuition given by HIM, the power and strength
to write (by Shirdi Sri Sai Baba), I place these few lines for
the information, guidance, if need be, of Sri Sai Devotees and
those like-minded persons, Bhaktas and devotees which is
open for corrections, suggestions, wherever felt necessary.

32. This is the EYE of the man. This miracle of birth or creation
which cannot be artificially or scientifically done.

Satsang 'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' by Bapatla Hanumanth Rao Garu

PREFACE

I had the pleasure of going through the manuscript

of the translated version of the book captioned
'Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi -A God!' written originally in
Telugu by late Sri Bapatla Hanumantha Rao garu,

an ardent devotee of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi. Inspired
by Sri Sai Maharaj, Sri Rao wrote as many as 28
books in his life time which indicates the level of his

Shraddha (faith) and Saburi (Patience), the essential
qualities of a true devotee. This is a book pre-excellence
in the sense that Sri Rao has beautifully amalgamated
the deeds and sayings of Baba with the spiritual precepts
of the Hindus and other religions. The vast knowledge of
spiritual science and practices he has indicated in the
context of Sri Sai is phenomenal. As one proceeds
through the book, one invariably comes to the conclusion
that Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi is much more than a Sadhu,
Yogi, Saint or a Guru. It is not only His wonderful power
that amazed every one who came in His contact at that
time and which still continues to baffle His devotees but
also His majestic personality consisting of utmost
compassion tolerance and sacrifice that draws millions
towards Him. In fact the universalism in Shri Sai has
transcended the concepts of clan, race, religion and

national barriers. A clear picture of 'Sai brotherhood'
is emerging in the world in the form of a new religion,
which tomorrows world will know as 'Saism".

No doubt Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi was an Incarnation

and like the play of all incarnations, after the departure,
faith in Him is spreading throughout the world. Sri Rao,
as an inspired soul has brought-out the 'Spirit of Sai' in
this book, as we may call it. Although he has quoted

vastly from scriptures and religious treatises but
intuitively he knew that Sri Sai is Parambrahma in
Saguna Sahara form. The style of writing is lucid,
poignant and emotive indicating truthfulness of the
thought of the writer. The translators have done an
excellent job in meticulously translating the original
Telugu writing to English which is an extremely difficult
job. I congratulate them for this noble endeavor.

No doubt Sri Rao was one of the chosen few to bring

Baba's leelas to the people who then can be drawn
towards Him for their own emancipation.

Satsang SHREE SANT KATHAMRUT by Das Ganu Maharaj

Whatever we see around us is the trick of the Maya
(illusion). This universe is formed by the union of the Maya
and the Bramhan."

Thereupon, Narayan asked, "Who is this Maya? Who
created her? What is her nature? You have explained to me
that the prime cause for the universe is the Chaitanya. The
universe is not different from it. Where does then, this Maya
come from?"

Maharaj replied to this. 'Listen to me carefully. I will
explain to you how Maya came into being. The very power
of the Chaitanya, She had adorned the Chaitanya entirely.
You cannot separate them as sweetness cannot be separated
from treacle (jaggery). One cannot separate the light from
the Sun. The union of these two has created the Universe.

My son this is the case here too. The Sun makes itself
known due to its radiance. This similarity exists between
Maya and Bramhan. Maya, however is limited but Chaitanya
is infinite. Both of them are permanently ancient. Maya is the
primal matter and Chaitanya is the soul. Dnanraja
(Dnaneshwar) has discussed the soul and Maya in the
Amrutanubhav (The Dnaneshwari). I will therefore not repeat
it. I will only introduce that spiritual cave to you.

Those who enter that cave stay in there for ever in lasting
bliss. They do not come out of it. The soul is the root cause
of everything. Maya is the effect. This Maya is very important,
Oh Narayan! Maya gives rise to ego which makes one feel
one's individuality. When Maya engulfs something one loses
the sense of truth. Maya has two qualities. Maya covers
everything that exists. What does not exists, Maya makes it
appear as if it does. Those are the two things, Maya does.
She, thus, confuses everybody. A labourer dreams that he
has become a king. Here, his existence as a labourer is, first,
covered by the Maya. Though there is no kingship, Maya
creates the illusion. Thus, Maya covers the Bramhan and
projects a different picture. In fact, this universe does not
exist. There is only one true thing and that is the Chaitanya.
However, due to the Maya, it appears as the universe. The
properties of the universe appear to be true though the
universe itself is all illusory. This is what causes
inauspiciousness. Therefore you must remove the veil of the
Maya and see the Chaitanya with the help of the knowledge.
You will find that you are everything yourself. When water
loses its turbidity, one sees clear water. Similarly, when the
turbidity due to the Maya is removed, the Chaitanya will
re-appear clearly. You must worship that reality, Oh
Narayan! I have to tell this to everybody.

The soul is the reality. The main purpose of the spiritual
knowledge is to explain this principle. You must realize this
soul and achieve the absolution in this birth only.
On listening to this sermon, everybody was completely
satisfied. They started prostrating before the Lord. Oh
children, assimilate what Baba told lovingly to Vaidhya
Sathe, Chandorkar, Berey, Nana, Nimonkar, Maruti
Laxman and Noolkar. All the devotees said, "Amen' and
prostrated before Baba again and again. How can there be
the darkness of ignorance where the Sun of knowledge
shines?

Oh Sai Maharaj! please accept this child. Please allow
Das Ganu to sit by the cool shadow of your grace. Sai
Maharaj -the cloud of knowledge showered this nectar in
this Shri.Sant Kathamrut. Ganu is requesting you to enjoy
this nectar. This is the end of the fifty seventh chapter.

The end of the 57th Chapter from Shri.Sant Kathamrut
by Shri Das Ganu.

Satsang MYSTERY OF BIRTH

25. From the above narration, it could be judged and a
conclusion drawn, how evil is abundant in this mundane
world and how limited and few are good ones. This also
reflects on the theory that good men are few and the bad
are more. That is the creation of the Almighty for the man
to realise and disciminate between good and bad and to
choose the right path for his salvation and pious living-this
path he should seek to live and lead both to help the
humanity and himself attain salvation or Mukthi.

26. It will be interesting to note how a generous, pious,
good man and a wicked and jealous man are compared,
is illustrated by the fact that a lion-the jungle king-though
living on the ground-not like birds in air looks forward for
its hunger, an elephant for its prey but never stoops low to
ugly and meek creatures, as the vulture or a kite though
high in the sky, with its sharp sight droops down upon
ugly and nasty carcasses, corpses etc. but not at good
and superior things.
27. In just manner endowed with decretory and
discriminating power between good and bad and blessed
with the position and status occupying highest pedestal in
life, instead of viewing things broad-mindedly and
magnanimously with sympathy and reason and redress
the grievances and problems on humanitarian grounds, by
uplifting the poor and needy and thus follow the path of
give and take policy -forget and forgive - the mother of
virtue of an ideal man realises and feels the pulses and
difficulties of others as his own; but not develop paired
with narrow selfish, ugly jealous mind, only aiming at
individual self progess and prosperity, pomp, power
and fame acquired by ill-got wealth and honour at the
cost of others which are transitory illusions not eternal.
He should have perspective view on higher ideals with
a bent of mind and a determined effort to help humanity,
as Abobenatham said, "Love your fellow men and I will
love you - as service to man is service to God or
humanity is servitude."

To be continuted......

Satsang SHREE SANT KATHAMRUT by Das Ganu Maharaj

You see an emperor, his officers and his messengers.
All of them are due to the existence of the empire. They
are all different. The emperor enjoys elephants, palanqines,
different vehicles etc. He controls others at his will. His
officers have to act according to his orders. Their wishes
are dependent on those of the emperor's. The messengers
have to execute his orders. Their own will is limited here.
The subjects are under the envelope of the power of the
emperor.
Everything, the emperorship, messengership and also the
subjecthood, are all dependent on this power. This power,
however, is different from all of them. When the emperor
dies, the power of the empire does not cease to be.
We can easily understand the different aspects of this
power. He who becomes one with the power becomes
the emperor, though the power is independent, everything
happens when one is supported by it. Nana, you sit in the
chair (of the Secretary) due to the power of the empire.
Your peon who swings the fan over your head does so
due to the same power. Both of you are there (in the
office) due to the same power but you perform different
duties. The emperor fully enjoys this power. A part of it
is enjoyed by the officers. The peon enjoys even a smaller
part of it. The subjects, too, enjoy under its aegis. Thus,
the spiritual souls become one with the Bramhan and enjoy
complete bliss.

Upon this Nana asked very politely, How can one divide
the formless power of the empire into different parts? Once
we name the different parts, its nature of being formless
vanishes (Hence it contradicts the assumption).

Baba said. "A very good question, Nana! I am very glad
you asked it. The power of the empire, certainly, cannot
be divided. We, however perceive its divisions (parts).
Same is the case with the Chaitanya which appears to be
infinite but one perceives its parts. Though one cannot
divide it into parts the recipients enjoy it partially according
to their abilities. The space occupies small and big pots,
utensils and the sky. The containers may have different
capacities to fill the space. Does it, then, mean that the
space is divided? Nana, understand this. This is the case
here too. This is how the soul is. I have explained to you
the nature of the Soul.

(To be contd...)

Satsang MYSTERY OF BIRTH

24. From this illustration, it could he seen similarly that
a man veiled by ego, pride and haughtiness, foolishly,
blindly both in mind and eyes though placed in high
position and status, for acquiring worldly benefits,
pleasures, fame and honor (which are transitory illusions),

drowned in the storm of mundane world, stoops to such
vicious and nefarious and wicked acts, by destroying and
distressing the innocent and weak persons without allowing
them to live in peace and comfort. In ripe time when it
cannot be tolerated by the Almighty, the egoism of a proud
man meets its end.

To quote narrow-minded, wicked, jealous and selfish

a man is, although born for a superior magnanimous, sacred
and selfless service and how he is bent upon in such
nefarious activities by his egoism, emotion with the mind set
at acquiring power, pomp fame, prosperity and false honor

stoops to an act of disgrace and disrepute brutally instead
of expanding his mind with his ideals with morals for purity,
sincerity and honesty with cherished ideals towards the uplift
of humanity, is well depicted and explained in the following
quotation.

An eagle, a far sighted bird (an eagle-eye) though gifted

fly so high in the sky, from such a high level, only casts its
eyes on ugly, stinking carcasses and corpses but does not
set its attention on superior and good things with its sharp
eyes, thus misusing the, gifted sight, towards ugly things
instead of lofty high ideals.

The curiosity of the nature created by the Almighty is

in that how ugly, wicked and unwanted creatures and
things are more abundantly made in the world, than useful
and good things which are comparatively far and few, is
explained by the realistic fact that in the jungles ferocious,

ravaging, and wild beasts like tiger, cheeta, jackals which
live on other weak, innocent and harmless creatures like
deer, stag, hare etc. are more in number, only to terrorise,
frighten and destroy the beauty and calm of the jungle,
filled with pretty, pleasant and harmless creatures. So is
the man with his ill-got wealth and power, who destroys
the weak and innocent persons.

These timers and cheetas etc. bring forth three or four

young ones at a time, what for, only to destroy the innocent
not to speak of the pigs in towns, bringing forth dozens at
a time ugly, nasty ones - the natural scavengers. You may
see a wide contrast here that the good, pretty, pleasing,
entertaining, beautifying and useful creatures like pigeons,
peacocks, parrots etc. and the swan of course a rare

specimen are not as abundant as those unwanted ones - to
make a particular mention of a quadruped cow,
worshipped as sacred and holy Kamadhenu- a most vital
and useful cow to mankind by its milk, so essential for
humans, whose usefulness is beyond description as
ordained by the Lord, delivers only one calf at a time. He
or she - both equally useful for mankind.
