This Thursday, the whole pooja, the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Aartee was very powerful, very soothing and many devotees saw and felt the presence of Baba at the time of Aartee. I append below a write up, written by a devotee soon after the lunch.

Om Sai Ram

In this edition I want to share another experience during Sai Amrit Vani at Sidhartha Extension, New Delhi. Blessed are the devotees who get a chance to visit Sidhartha Extension, where Baba’s presence is felt by most of the devotees. On 1st May during Sai Amrit Vani, Veena Maa got emotional and was into tears as she saw Sai Baba’s image/photo changing into Dwarkamai of Baba and giving blessings to HIS devotees. Not only Veena Maa but many devotees sitting there had the same same experience. One of the devotees got very exciting after seeing Sai Baba and she started singing ‘ Sai Digambra …” very loudly. As we were in the middle of Noon Aartee. It’s a very wonderful experience, where you feel Baba’s presence and if you’ve selfless love and affection for Baba, HE shows his omnipresence. True are the words where Baba says ‘Jaisa Bhav hua..”

I have already sent all the letters received for prayers and for the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani except the confidential ones. If you donot find your letter in it, it might have gone along with the spam letters. To avoid it, please write a relevant text in the subject. Mrs Gupta prayed for all the devotees .
This Thursday the 1st May 2008, we enjoyed the following Leelas of Baba (of Shirdi).
१।Udi started to ooz from the different photos and Statue of Baba at different stages of time. Hindi words `RAM' `SHAM' `OM' were formed with Udi on one photo in the mandir and another photo on the wall.
2. This Thursday also, the Holy Water started oozing from the Charans from Thursday early morning. A Thali was placed in the night of Wednesday itself, as water starts oozing from the early morning. Thali was emptied several times. The taste of water was similar to gulab jal and kewara mix. This water was also given to the devotees and again the Thali was filled with water.
3. Lap of Mrs. Gupta was filled with lots of Udi during the prayers. Udi was in the folds of the falls of the Sari.
4. It has also become regular leela of Baba that many other devotees also had Udi on them, in their laps, their shawls or cloths.
5. Several devotees had Udi in the books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani.
6. Bhog , which was placed before HIM was partially eaten. Part of Bhog was on the lips of photo and statue of Baba. Different items were there on lips in different photos. Parts of the remains in the box were given to the devotees who offered that item of bhog to Baba.
7. All the boxes of Bhog, which were kept on the table were blessed with Udi.
8. The feeling of Presence of Baba was so strong during the artee that devotees almost cried simultaneously.
9. Many photos, papers and documents etc. which were placed before Baba and the same were blessed without any delay.
10. In the night all the photos and statue were cleaned and the Udi removed. In the morning 2nd May, Udi again started oozing from Staue of Baba . It is the birthday of our grand daughter. Thanks Baba.
Jai Sai Ram

Nine Gems Of Devotion To Sai (Saibhakti)

The following is sent to me by a Sai Bhakt...

The style of living of saints is really very sweet even though it seem to be full of hardships. They have manifested for us on this earth, since God themselves could not come in the form of human beings. Saints show us the way to achieve self realization. They make us to follow the path of their own remembrance which ultimately leads us to union with God. Sai Baba was one such saint, but the only exception was that He was God Incarnate but lived like a saint, a human, among others. He never claimed to be God, but always uttered that He was faithful servant of His mater (God).Due to merits of past births, we have got the birth of a human being. So we should be ever conscious to attain the objective of our life i.e. self realization. We should leave all our ego, intelligence, laziness and be alert to reach to our goal. This goal can be achieved by remembering Sai Baba in some or the other way.It is very well known incident that Sai Baba gave nine coins to Smt. Laxmibai before leaving His mortal body. This indicated nine types of devotion of Him. Moreover Sai Baba has emphasized nine types of Bhakti 1. Shravan (hearing) 2. Kirtan (praying) 3 .Smaran (remembering) 4. Padasevan (resorting to feet) 5. Archan (worship) 6. Namaskar (bowing) 7. Dasya (service) 8. Sakhyam (friendship) 9. Atmanivedan (surrender of the self). All these types of Bhakti are included in the Nine Gems of Sai Bhakti as under (arranged in descending order of their importance), if practiced regularly would surely make you pass the Bhavsagar (ocean of life)

1. Shri Sai SatcharitraThis sacred book written by Govindrao Dabholkar is as much important as Guru Charitra for Sai devotees. This book is originally written in Marathi language and including preface there are in all 53 chapters (adhyayas). Along with Sai Baba’s biography and various miracles, it also consists of a very wide range of Sai Baba’s updesh and description of Vedant. This book was written when Sai Baba dwelled in His mortal body with His permission. So it has been proved to be very fruitful. Many Sai devotees does parayan (continuous reading for 7 days i.e. a week) and many of them reads at least one chapter everyday.

2. Shri Sai Nath Stavan ManjariThis stotra, composed by Dasganu Maharaj, was completed on 9/9/1918 i.e. it was completed when Sai Baba was among us. It consists of 153 ovis (poem). This is Sai devotee’s favourite bhajan and many have been benefited by it. If not recited daily, Sai devotees can recite it on every Thursday and on Ekadashi day (11th day of full moon phase and 11th day of no moon phase).

3. Shri Sai Nath Mahim StotraThis Mahim stotra is in Sanskrit language and it is composed by Upasani Maharaj of Sakori during his stay in Shirdi in the year 1911. It is chanted in Madhyayan Arti and Dhoop Arti in Shirdi Samadhi Mandir. Mahim means Mahima i.e. importance and stotra means poem in the form of Stuti i.e. remembering God’s name. In Sanskrit language Shiv mahim stotra is very famous. Upasani Maharaj has composed this stotra from Shiv Mahim stotra only. In all the verses, Sai Baba is said to be Sadguru and God. But in verse 8 and 10, Sai Baba is called Parabrahma and Lord Ram in the form of Sai Baba.Like Shiv mahim stotra is also best instrument to achieve our family deity Sai Baba. In the last verse i.e 15 th verse, Upasani Maharaj has added that if a devotee reads this with full devotion and heartily, Sai Nath should surely shower His grace on him.

4. Shri Sai Baba Ashtottrashat NamavaliIt is 108 names of Sai Baba in Sanskrit and is recited during holy bath of Sai Baba in Shirdi by the poojari. It is composed by a famous Sai devotee of Madras, Late Shri Narsinghswami. It consists of many difficult words, but if it is learnt by heart, it can be recited in 4.5 minutes very easily. These words appear in the last page of Stavan Manjari composed by Dasganu Maharaj and published by Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan.

5. Arti Sai BabaThis famous Arti is recited during Madhyayan Arti and Dhoop Arti in Shirdi. It appears in chapter 33 of Sai Satcharitra. It is composed by a devotee named Madhav Aadkar. It has importance due to following incident. In chapter 33, Sai Baba made Shama (Madhavrao Despande) to write it on a page and gave it to Bapugir Bua to be given to Nanasaheb Chandorkar to save his daughter from death, who was away many miles. This shows that this Arti was accepted by Sai Baba himself. The Arti consists of a verse :कलियुगी अवतार सगुण परब्रह्मसाचार अवतीर्ण जलसे स्वामी दत्त दिगंबर, दत्त दिगंबर.This means Sai Baba had accepted that He was one with Lord Dattatreya. As soon as Nanasaheb Chandorkar received the Arti he started reciting it and his daughter was relived from the pain of delivery. Moreover she could deliver safely and at the same point of time. Today also this importance is fulfilled and devotees may very come to know once they have started it.

6. Udi of Sai Baba’s Dhuni MaaTo Sai devotees Udi is like sanjeevani (a life giving herb) which cures all diseases of body and mind. Many devotees have assured of Udi working for them in the said way. The moment one applies it, he/she can feel that the body has now became pure and holy and as if Sai Baba has put His Holy Hand on one’s head to give blessings. Devotees become happy with the divine bliss.

7. Darshan of Samadhi Mandir and Dwarkamai:Sai Baba is present everywhere there is no doubt in this. So if we pray to Him sitting in our homes also, so it is not at all necessary to go to Shirdi or any other Sai Mandir. But in Shirdi Sai Baba’s mortal body is present. One should go to Shirdi to charge himself/herself at least once in a year. Likewise when a vehicle’s battery has to be charged again and again when the battery power goes low, in the same way by going to Shirdi once in a year, we can charge up the battery of devotion.

8. Sai Baba’s NameThis is the easiest way of devotion and moreover it is the best method. Sai Baba liked Naamsmaram (chanting of God’s name) and He made His devotees to do Naamsaptah (continuous chanting of God’s name for a week).

9. Sai Baba’s MeditationNo saints had said this type of devotion, but Sai Baba had said to Radhabai of Sangamner and clarified it to her. Leaving other types of devotion, devotees must meditate in front of Sai Baba’s photograph or idol by sitting alone. Even while doing other work, one can bring Sai Baba Sagun form ( bodily form) in front of their eyes. we should keep Sai Baba’s picture in front of our eyes, and can meditate on Him. Sai Baba would be present there also.

Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit

Sri Sai Amrit Vani and Prayan of Sai Leelamrit

24th April 2008

Jai Sai Ram

Sorry for the delay in reporting this week. I was bussy in Chandigarh. It was again a normal Thursday with normal Leelas of Baba but for the most important one. Baba did not blessed the bhog this week. There was no Udi on any of the boxes, placed on the table before HIM, but he did eat the bhog and all the pieces in the box placed before HIM were eaten. We could not understand the meaning of this Leela.
I have already sent all the letters received for prayers and for the recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani except the confidential ones, so I have not prepared the list of those devotees who took part in the pooja by reciting/reading or listening Sri Sai Amrit Vani at their places.

This Thursday the 24th April 2008 , we enjoyed the following Leelas of Baba (of Shirdi).

1. Udi started to ooz from the different photos and Statue of Baba at different stages of time.

Her hands were also filled with Udi.

7. The feeling of Presence of Baba was very strong during the recitation of Sai Amrit Vani, Pooja and Prayer.

8. Many photos, papers and documents etc. which were placed before Baba and the same were blessed without any delay.

AMBROSIA AFTER MAHASAMADHI (Contd)

The following Sai Bhakt sent me this!

AMBROSIA AFTER MAHASAMADHI (Contd)

5. BABA SAVED SHRI G. B. MANKAR AND HIS MEN FROM THE JAWS OF DEATH
In his letter, Shri G. B. Mankar has stated to Shri Tarkhad in 1923 during his work in his work field, it has to lift a 375 horse power diesel engine (weight 12 tons) in a fly crane. As the fly crane was not so strong to bear the weight of the engine, a cracking sound came from the crane and all were afraid. Then Shri Mankar cried out “Sai Baba” and invoked His help. After his utterance all of a sudden smell of rose flowers and agarbattis spread over the field and Baba has appeared on the spot and saved all the people from the jaws of death. Mankar saw baba and again cried out "Baba".
All others meant that “Kaka” of Mankar came there. But Mankar has cleared their doubt and that Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi had came to the spot and saved them from the jaws of death. Is this incident does not show that Baba is living and lending His helping hand to His devotees as and when they are in trouble ?
Surrender Shri Sai Completely Stupendous Delectation and Deliverance be there

6. BABA SAVED SHRI R. MOREWALA FROM FALLING DOWN FROM THE TRAIN
Shri R. Morewala Solicitor of Bombay was not so much religious minded. But he has got faith in Baba. In 1953 he was going to Thana by a train. The train was over crowded and hence he could not get into the train and was standing at the door. Then the train moved. Owing to the pushing of the crowd from inside the train, he fell down from the door and while falling down, he uttered the name of Shri Sai Baba. The chain was pulled out by one old man and the train was stopped. That old man caught the hand of Morewala and prevented him from falling down. All the people and the guard came to see why the train was stopped and who pulled the chain? Shri R. Morewala also wanted to pay tribute to the old man. But the old man was not there and he had disappeared. All were surprised, Shri Morewala went to his house and told this incident to all his family members. This incident was told to his son when he went to Chalisgaon in 1964 by a Saint "That had I not saved your father's life in 1953?" Is this not mean that Baba is still living and helping His devotees when they require His help?
Surrender Shri Surrender Shri Sai Completely Stupendous Delectation and Deliverance be there

7. BABA SAVED SHRI K. JAGADISH MUNSHI FROM THE HANDS OF RAZAKARS
On 1948, Shfi Jagadish K. Munshi and his wife were travelling in first class compartment of the train going from Bangalore to Bombay . There were six members in the compartment including an old couple and two youngsters. Shri J. K. Munshi and his wife were playing cards. The old man was praying and his wife was watching the others. Before their departure from Bangalore , they had been advised not to travel by this particular route because of Razakars trouble then prevailing in other places of Hyderabad state. They did not pay any heed to the advice as they were youngsters then. The train left Hyderabad and was approaching Sholapur Station in Indian Union. All of a sudden, the train was forced to stop at Gangapur. The Razakars who assembled there with rifles, lathis and other lethal weapons cried out "All Muslims get down. Kill all Hindus". The old man all along in prayer ordered to close all the doors and windows. They promptly carried out his orders. The wailing of passengers who were pulled out of the train, beaten and robbed and field into the nearby fields. The Rasakars repeatedly tried to force to open the doors of their compartment but failed to do so. Even in this calamity the old man observed his prayer. The struggle went on nearby for five hours. Then the train came to Sholapur with their only one compartment. All the inmates of the compartments arrived safely untouched by the Razakars. After somedays of this incident, the old man gave an article in a magazine that because of his prayers to Shri Sai Baba Shirdi that the compartment of the train escaped unhurt by the Razakars. As a witness, he mentioned the name of Shri Jagadish K. Munshi in the article. He told that it was true that the old man was particularly praying at the time and added that he had never heard the name of Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi he forgotten to thank of him. Later on, in 1953, when calamities came in his family, he saw a picture of Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi which was hung in a frame maker's shop on his way to his office. He looked his teachings in the photo as "If you look to me, I shall took to you” Then he remembered the past incident and with his wife's consent, he bought one Sai Baba's photo and performed puja requesting Baba to solve his problems, within a few days thereafter, all his problems had settled at his reasonable satisfaction and the puja went on regularly.
After two years, he was once traveling by a night train left Surat to Bombay . After the train left Surat railway station he developed severe pain on account of stone in the bladder. The pain aggravated in such a manner that he could neither sit, stand nor lie down. He then began to pass blood through urine. His copassenger was sleeping. When the train came to Palghar, the pain was so severe that he woke up his copassenger and urged him to call the guard. The guard came and complained the position that no doctor could be traced in the train and advised to get down at Palghar and have a treatment from a local doctor. The guard called the Station Master and under their joint advice, he got down at Palghar and the train left the railway station. With the help of Station Master, he was lifted up into a bullock cart and driven to the doctor's residence as the doctor refused to come to the railway station in the late hours of the night. In this critical juncture he prayed Shri Sai Baba for help. The doctor attended on him and gave treatment and he was somehow relieved of the pain. The doctor also sent a call to his relatives at Bombay and they arrived and took him to Bombay the next day. Even for this incident, he did not consider any particular significance to Shri Sai Baba Shirdi. In 1968, his father took him to Sri Satya Sai Baba and introduced to him Shri Satya Sai Baba Said, "I knew him. He is a believer of Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi for the last 16 years. Once he got out of the train in severe pain and called Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi. It was Shirdi Sai Baba who saved him. This utterance of Shri Satya Sai Baba himself assumed significance to Shri Sai Baba Shirdi by him.
In 1959, his one month old daughter fell ill severely and was admitted to the Hospital. The treatment went on for three weeks. Even then the child had been suffering high temperature, his wife and himself were very morose. On 14-11-1959, they were informed by two leading doctors that the survival of the child were remote. He decided that if the child does not survive he would end his worship to Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi. After this decision by him, the temperature of the child decreased gradually and became normal by 7 P.M. within three months of this incident the child was in the pink of health. In March, 1960, they visited Shirdi by car with the child of five months. On the way the child uttered first words "BA-BA-BA-BA" He told that Shri Sai Baba Shirdi is solving his knotted problems of his existence and guiding him. Apart from all these, a great problem among the devotees that Shri Satya Sai Baba is the reincarnation of Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi was been solved beyond doubt by Shri Satya Sai Baba himself in his own sayings in para 2 of this article that he is not re-incaranation of Shri Sai Baba, Shirdi. Surrender Shri Sai Completely Stupendous Delectation and Deliverance be there

8. BABA SAVED A WOMAN FROM DEATH
In 1927, a husband and wife were returning home after celebrating Ramanavami at Shirdi. The wife got down at Thana railway Station to fetch water and just when with a water full vessel, she was boarding the train, the train started and the woman fell down under the train. The husband and other passengers combined shouted to the guard to stop the train. They feared, the woman must have been crushed under the wheels as the train having started already stopped only after it had gone some distance. They ran up to the spot of accident; to their utter amazement they saw the woman standing there uninjured. In reply to the enquiry to all, "the woman said as soon as I fell I remembered Baba. He at once appeared, stood in front of me pressed me hard against the platform till the train passed away and saved me. Baba disappeared as soon as the train left the platform. What sort of Body, Baba had assumed to save this woman? One can hardly know for usually there is no room enough to stand for two persons between the train wheels and the platform, and yet what is not possible to a superman like Baba?

Sai Baba financially helped a poor man for expenses of his marriage

Some Sai Bhakt sent me this and I wanted to share with you all!

A poor man named Laxmanrao Govindrao Munge lived in Nashik. He used to sit in the threshold of Nashik court. He did some documentation work and at the end of the day he earned only one rupee or one and half rupee.

In those days, for a girl to be given in marriage, only boy’s qualification, salary, etc was not considered by her family. The boy may be poor, but his family, family’s behaviour with others and above all maternal uncle’s family had to be good. Laxmanrao’s maternal uncle lived in Rahata village. Due to his maternal uncle’s good family background and high position, Laxmanrao’s marriage was fixed in a good family. Now the question was of money for the expenses of his marriage. He had to compulsorily give gold ornaments and the whole expense of his marriage was to be borne single handed. Moreover in those days a man was valued by his word of mouth. If a man had promised to give something in social functions like marriage or similar occasions, those words could not be taken back. It would be better to consume poison rather than turn back from one’s words.

Laxmanrao was worried about the expenses. Like a person has hope on a single star in a dark night, so Laxmanrao had hope from his uncle. He was confident that his uncle would help him in monetary terms. Thinking likewise, he started to Rahata to his uncle’s place from Nashik. In between, he came to Shirdi, Sai Baba’s holy land.

Laxmanrao came to Sai Baba’s Dwarkamai and fell at His feet. Sai Baba gave him two mangoes to eat. The mangoes were incredibly sweet in taste. Then Laxmanrao sat massaging Sai Baba’s feet. Sai Baba started talking with him and said, “Whatever is written in your fate, you are bound to get. Always have a feeling of satisfaction in your heart and be happy with whatever you have. Without God’s order, even a leaf cannot move. So don’t worry and always try to be simple, honest and truthful. I am independent and have independent thoughts, is said by many people, but this is not true. God is the only Doer, we are dependent on Him, my son! No one is relative of anyone. Relatives are only for show off, but no one come to help you in critical situations. If you want one-two thousand rupees, I can give you. Laxmanrao failed to understand what Sai Baba wanted to say. He then left for Rahata to his uncle’s place. His uncle refused to help him. Now Laxmanrao was reminded of Sai Baba’s words that, “No one is relative of anyone. Relations and relatives are only for show off. If you want I can give you money. Walking out of Rahata village, he further thought, “Everyday Sai Baba distributes all the money received as dakshina and next day He becomes a poor Fakir. Then how can He give me such a big amount of money?” But now he started praying to Sai Baba mentally, “Oh God, Sainath! You are omnipotent. I don’t have that much courage to understand your sweet words. I am not very intelligent and my devotion to You is also less than that. Oh God! Bless me. You have promised me to give one-two thousand rupees, but I cannot understand the exact meaning of your words”. Now he reached to a place named Sinnor.

There was a big business of cigarettes and tobacco of Gujarati traders in Sinnor and Laxmanrao was initially introduced to a Gujarati Trader. After a couple of meetings, the trader generated trust on Laxmanrao.
