Satsang Chapter 8 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram

Chapter 8:::
Baba seeking alms

Human birth is precious because one can reach God through wisdom [jnana]. The grace of God that helps us to surrender to Sai Baba is the best of all luck.Let us see how the One whose mere glance would make the beggar a king went from house to house in Shirdi seeking alms.

*He carried a tin pot on one hand and a square cloth [soli] on the other.Solid food was received in the soli and the liquid in the tin pot.Blessed are those in front of whose houses Baba stood and beseeched 'Oh! Lasi. Give me a piece of bread'. Food so collected was mixed up in a earthen pot in the masjid. Fakirs, cats, dogs etc. freely part took that prasad.

*During Baba's early days Bhayajabayi, the mother of Tatya Patil used to search for Baba in the jungles and meadows and feed Him with gorgeous meals. Baba did not forget this act till his mahasamadhi . He enormously helped Tatya and Tatya also called Baba as uncle.

*Mahalsapthi, Tatya and Baba used to sleep in the masjid, with their heads facing East, West and North respectively and legs meeting together. They would be discussing till late night. Thus, Tatya slept for fourteen years with Baba in the masjid.

*Baba liked Chandraben Marwari of Rahtha and his brother's son Kushal Chand. Some times, Baba used to go to Rahtha in a tonga [horse drawn carriage] They would accord reception with musical bands. Baba never went beyond Nimgon in South and Rahtha in West, but knew everything happening thousands of miles away.

Satsang CURATIVE QUALITY OF BABA'S UDI (November 1986)

CURATIVE QUALITY OF BABA'S UDI (November 1986)
After going through the various astonishing experiences of the devotees written in the Sai Leela magazine, a humble devotee that I am, felt encouraged to state one of my several experiences too. I have experienced many a miracle, but this one is exceptionally wonderful. It was in the month of November, when I had gone to spend my Diwali holidays with my sister. My niece (sister's daughter) was then suffering from a type of fever. In fact, it was the second month after she developed the problem and the fever would not abate inspite of expert medical treatment. My sister and brother-in-law tried all systems of medicine, but no change in the patient's condition. During the one week that I was staying with them, the girl would be all right during the day but she would not eat anything. She would go to sleep at 10.00 p.m. but wake up at 2.00 a.m., with a temperature of 103-104°F and a severe headache. She would vomit immediately and would be restless till the morning. I have been an eye-witness to this routine during the week that I was there. Finally, it was a Saturday, and I was to leave, the next day being Sunday. It was around 10.00 p.m. on Saturday and nobody at home could have dinner as the girl's condition was quite bad. She was very upset due to the fact that I was leaving the very next day. Baba's Udi and its cure were in my mind all along. Since my sister did not know much about Baba I could not force my feelings on her. However, on Saturday night, seeing the girl's condition, I gathered courage and asked my sister whether I could give my niece Baba's Udi. By Baba's will she immediately consented. I usually carry a small packet of Udi in my purse. I immediately took out a little, mixed it with
water and gave it to her to drink. A little was packed and kept under her pillow alongwith a photograph of Baba. All along my heart-felt prayers were, "Baba everyone in the family is upset and I am leaving this girl in Your care. If You do not show Your power and grace my faith in You may also weaken and what can I say to my sister? How can she develop faith in You?" I kept taking Baba's name and could not sleep comfortably throughout the night. Besides, every half an hour, I was feeling the girl's forehead for any sign of fever. To my great surprise, she slept very soundly throughout the night, without waking up even once. She woke up at 6.00 a.m.
in the morning like any normal person, brushed her teeth and took a little breakfast. We were
all astonished but did not have the courage to say anything. Her fever said good bye from that time
and she started improving. I did not know how to thank Baba and felt quite choked with emotion.
My faith in Baba was not only strengthened but my sister and her children too have developed a strong
faith in Baba as a result of this personal experience. I close this with a short prayer begging Baba always
to protect us, forgive us for our trespasses and correct and guide us at every stage.

Satsang Sri Sai Amrit Vani - 03/09/2006

9th March  2006
Jai Sai Ram
There was only little difference in
the Leela of Baba this week from the last week.
This week persons attending the Sri Sai Amrit Vani
were less due to the examinations of the kids. There
were about  50-60 devotees who participated in the
recitation of Sri Sai Amrit Vani in person from 11 to
12:30 Hrs.
Udi started appearing and dropping from
the photos, as usual but from Tuesday the 7th March
from the photo on the wall. From 8th March Udi started
from the main photo and also other photos in mandir
and other photos on the wall.
On 17th March we are going to Shirdi
along with our son, daughter-in-law and her parents
and from there we will go to Goa. As such we will be
doing Sri Sai Amrit Vani on 23rd March at Goa and not
at Sidhartha Extension, New Delhi.

           Jai Sai Ram.

We were able to see the following Leelas of Baba on
Thursday the 9th  March 2006.

1.      Udi started appearing and dropping from the photo
on the wall  from Tuesday and from the  photo in the
mandir on Wednesday the 8th March. As usual the words
formed with Udi were again 'RAM' and 'SHAM' 'OM' and
Trishool.
2.      There was a lot of Water from the Charans. This
water was collected in the plate.  Water tasted and
smelled of Chandan. After Amrit Vani this water was
given to the devotees and again the plate was filled
with water. Jai Sai Ram.
3.      As usual Mrs. Gupta did her morning pooja and
offered the Bhog to Baba. After the Sai Amrit Vani
this box of bhog containing Boondi and Burfee was
taken out by Mrs Gupta and we saw 'OM'  was engraved
on  Burfee.
4.      We could see the parts of the bhog on the lips of
different photos and statue.
5.      All the boxes of Prasad were blessed with Udi and
People/devotee collected the Udi on the papers.
6.      Lap of Mrs Gupta was filled with Udi during the Sai
Amrit Vani. Beside Mrs Gupta many devotees also had
Udi in their books of Sri Sai Amrit Vani. Which they
also collected in papers.
7.      Many devotees felt the presence of Baba during the
recitation of Sai Amrit Vani in different ways.
8.      The Charnamrit of Baba was also sweet as if some
honey has been mixed into it.
9.      One Sai Satcharitra, photos and the pandents of
devotees kept in the Mandir by Mrs gupta were blessed
with Udi.

Jai Sai Ram

Sri Sai Amrit Vani  started exactly at 11:04
AM and Noon Aarti exactly at 12:00 Hrs. followed by
brief Meditation and the prayer,  Prayan from Sai
Satcharitra and finally distribution of Prasad.  Few

Baba.

On their request and the assurance of
reciting/reading/listening Sai Amrit Vani on Thursday,
received till Wednesday night,  following Sai devotees

Satsang Chapter 7 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram

Chapter 7:::
Personality of Sai Baba

No one knew for sure whether Sai baba was a Hindu or a Moslem. He permitted the celebration of Hindu's festivals of Ram Navami and Gokulashtami. At the same time He allowed the Moslems to say Namaz on Id , keep tabut in the masjid and conduct the sandal procession. He lived in a masjid but kept constantly a fire like a Brahmin Agnihotri. He permitted application of sandal paste on His forhead and performing of Hindu ways of worship including sounding of bells in the masjid. His ears had been pierced . He used to repeat like Moslems Allaah Maalik [God is the sole proprietor] . But He declared Himself as Ganpathi, Maha Lakshmi Narayan etc. Orthodox Brahmins bowed at His feet without any hesitation.
*He renovated all the temples in Shirdi.Wicked ones got reformed.Lepers got cured. He functioned as good medecine man also. Once a person's eyes became reddish and swelled. Baba ground beeba seeds [used by washer men], applied that paste on the eyes and bandaged. Next morning the eyes were absolutely clear without any damage whatsoever. Baba knew all the yoga methods including ones to pull out the liver and clean it and sperating His body parts and rejoining them.
*In 1910, one day Baba suddenly thrust His hand into the dhuni. Shama and Madhav who were near pulled Him off post haste. Baba said that at a distant village a blacksmith's child fell into the fire and He saved it without any harm. Rejecting all offers of medical aid, Baba directed Bagoji, the leeper devotee,to apply ghee on His hand and serve Him regularly. Not only the wound healed but also the leprosy of Bhagoji.!
*Once kaparde's wife, while in Shirdi , heard that her son was suffering from bubonic plague in her place and sought the permission of Baba to leave Shirdi. Baba immediately lifted his kafani and showed big bulbs of plague on His body and said : ' See! I have to suffer for my devotees.Their sufferings are all mine only'.
*One day suddenly Baba told Mahalsapathi and two others that all four of them should sing that the doors of Pandarpur temple were open.A little later , Nana Chandodkar from Nadurbar came with his family and said that he had been transferred to Pandarpur and prayed Baba to come with them.Baba gave them udhi. There is no end to Baba's divine sports.

Satsang HOW SHRI SAI BABA SAVED US FROM AN ACCIDENT (November 198 6)

HOW SHRI SAI BABA SAVED US FROM AN ACCIDENT (November 1986)
For a long time my daughters had been wanting to go to Shirdi to pay their
respects at the lotus feet of our God Shri Sai Baba. There is a daily ST.
Bus service from Baroda to Shirdi. I am very old and do not keep well; so I
thought it would not be comfortable for me to make the journey to Shirdi by
this service. There are however luxury buses also which run on some fixed
days and one of them leaves on every Friday night at 11 o clock. I prefered
this & fixed the programme. We were eight i.e. myself, my three daughters
Lila, Renu, Rajani, two grand daughters Jayu, Kinnu, one son-in-law Shri
Hasmukhbhai & our neighbour & friend Mr Pawan Kumar Jain.

On the morning of Thursday the 13th June,'85 my son - in - law & daughter
Renu went to the office of that bus owner & after paying some advance got
eight seats reserved for the Friday trip and told him that they would come
in the evening to pay the balance fare. Baba was watching our activities
with a smile. He knew that a fatal motor accident is awaiting us on that ill
omened night & so for one reason or another, He got this trip cancelled.
When in the evening my daughter went to pay the balance fare she was told
that this trip is cancelled and so she came back dejected, not knowing that
it was the LEELA of our Sai Baba. This was an indirect suggestion for us to
postpone our tour to some other day, but like children bent on doing a
particular thing we did not pay heed to it. Mr. Pawan Kumar being in
transport business know many truck & tempo owners. He went to the market &
got one tempo fixed for Friday, the 14th June, 85, for Shirdi, Nasik,
Saputara & back and accordingly we commenced our journey at 12 'O'Clock on
that night of Friday. Mr. Pawan kumar being a jolly fellow by nature kept us
all in a happy mood till our wrist watches showed the hour of 1.30 a.m, when
abruptly the driver dozed off. The vehicle was in speed; the wheels began
jumping and we all were frightened. Delay of even few seconds would have
been fatal - the vehicle would have turned topsyturvy and all of us would
have landed in a Hospital. But our Saviour Lord Shri Sai Baba came running
faster than the fastest runner and through the hands of the man who was
sitting by the side of the driver got the situation controlled. We breathed
an air of relief and offered our hearty prayer to Baba for saving us.
Drivers never confess their fault & our driver also like his ilk complained
about the faulty air pressure in the wheels. We told him, to keep awake and
drive carefully. Naturally for some time we had discussions regarding
horrors of such accidents and meanwhile Mr. Pawan entertained us with his
anecdotes and innocent jokes, but the calamities were not yet over.
Unfortunately at 3 a.m. the driver was again overcome by sleep and the tempo
suddenly swerved to the left. Thank God that there was no ditch or a big
tree on the side; the vehicle otherwise would have been smashed. Again the
man sitting next to the driver got hold of the steering wheel and saved us.
We offered lacs of pranams to Sai Baba again for His timely help. Now we
realized that we were travelling under the shadow of a dark cloud.

Hence we decided to break our journey then & there, and so we drove slowly
up to Kim & rested there till morning.
On Saturday the 15th June we started from Kim in the morning after taking tea
etc. At one place the driver misled by a passer-by took a wrong route and we
had to travel about 80 K.M. extra. Any way we reached shirdi at about 7.30
p.m. & occupied one room in the Guest House just opposite Chawdi. All the
members went for a wash but I, taking my youngest daughter Rajani, first
went to Dwarkamai & then to Samadhi Mandir. I remained there and sent Rajani
back for a wash. Afterwards I again went to Dwarkamai and stood near the
Chula, a cooking place of Shri Sai Baba, charmed and spell-bound. Here I
stayed for two days on the 50th punyatithi of Baba in 1968. In the night I
used to sleep just by the side of this Chula. On the first night when I woke
up at about 12 'O'clock I saw that the whole Dwarkamai was thronged with
beggars, who were sleeping there soundly. I naturally uttered "Oh! all the
beggars are happy here and who was I ? Was I not a beggar ? Yes, thousand
times yes, but I should be called an occasional civilised beggar, who was at
that time (1968) enjoying a heartfelt pleasure, in the Dwarkamai an abode of
Baba, a place of inexhaustible treasure of blessings from Him. Who ever
stepped in it, when Saibaba was in the mortal frame, became happy and even
to day who-so-ever steps into it becomes happy. The whole Dwarkamai is
nicely rennovated. The beautiful marble setting is very much pleasing to the
eye.
As I was standing in a dreamy mood in the Dwarkamai, my daughters came with
flower garlands and Prasad to offer to Shri Sai Baba and asked me to
accompany them. After finishing our prayer, we came back to the Guest House
for a night's rest. On the morning of 16th June we again had His Darshan and
then we drove to Nasik and Saputara and while coming back had halted for the
night at Kim and returned to Baroda in the morning of Monday, the 17th June,
'85. Thus Baba saved us and brought us home safely.
May He Bless us all.

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah

Chapter 6:::
Festival of Sri Rama Navami

Dabolkar writes:: " The word Sadhguru brings to our mind Sai Baba. It appears to me that He is standing in front of me, applies udhi on my forhead and places His hands in blessing on my head." Sai baba said : " There won't be want of food and clothing in My devotee's home. Whatever you want ask God firmly. Keep your mind always firm in My contemplation."

* One Mr.Gopal Rao Gund, who remained issueless for years, begot a son with the blessings of Baba.As a gratitude for this grace, he wanted to celebrate an annual urus [festival] at Shirdi.Baba advised him to conduct it on Sri Rama Navami day. To tie over the water shortage Baba threw flowers in a well of saltiest water and made it potable.Nimonkar and Dahmu Anna gave each a flag, which were taken in procession during urus and were installed on either side of the masjid. On the same day Amir Sakar also conducted a sandal procession taken in honour of moslem saints. The simaltaneous processions by Hindus and by Moslems were going on peacefully. Radhakrishna mayi attended to the cleaning and whitewashing of the masjid and also feeding the pilgrims.Till 1912 this was going on. In 1912 it occured to Bhishma , a devotee , to celebrate along with these the Ram Navami festival also. All welcomed this proposal. That year Bhishma himself recited the Ram Katha , while Mahajanji played the harmonium.Mayi gave the cradle. When Rama Katha was over the sandal powder thrown around entered Baba's eyes and He roared in anger. People considered this as Baba's covert blessings to ward off demoniac thoughts even as Rama vanquished the demons. Couple of years later, Baba nominated Das Ganu as a regular singer of Ram Katha for the festival. From 1912, on the same day the procession of flags, procession of sandal and Ram Navami festival are going on simaltaneously without any hindrance.

* Masjid repairs : The work of repairing the portico and durbar hall of the masjid was on . Kaka Dhikxit spent a lot of money and commenced roofing of the portico. The iron poles installed on one night were forcibly removed next morning by an angry Baba. When Tatya went near to pacify Him, He pulled off the turban of Tatya ,dumped it in one of the pits meant for poles, set fire to it and threw a rupee coin in it as sacrificial ritual. Shortly He calmed down, summoned a turban of flowers from the shop and adored Tatya with it. What made Him to flew into a rage and why He calmed down instantly and blessed Tatya with flower turban? He alone knows.

Satsang Faith Can Move Mountains (January 1984)

I had been to Shirdi before, on three occasions, but with a different
problem, each time all of which were satisfactorily solved by my Lord Sai
Baba.
The   very   next   day,   with   my   husband   and   children,   I reached
Shirdi.Entrusting   my husband   with the problem of lodging, etc. I immediately
ran to my dear  father's abode,    There in His royal presence I forgot
all   my   worries and  woes and found peace of mind.    I looked at His
Majestic  personality with tear-streaming eyes, and  placed my problem in
His care.
Later on in the calm and serene atmosphere of Dwarkamai I poured my heart
out to Him. I spoke to Him as I would to the elders in my family and called
upon Him to help. Sai never sends anyone empty-handed, I too returned home
with His Udi and His blessings, thrilled with the joy of His protection.
"Cast all your burdens on me and I shall bear them". He had said and I
believed Him. So, I knew that when one enters the Dwarkamai his goal is
achieved.
In November '81 my maternal aunt (one of the quarters I had knocked before,
seeking help), a widow now, came to stay with us.
Casually she asked me when I would perform the Navjote of my sons. I
appraised her of my mother-in-law's dream and how difficult it was for me to
realise the cherished dream.
Deeply moved by my sincerity, she, of her own accord, promptly offered
financial assistance to pay for the costs.
I was taken aback and all agog to hear this. The offer had come from the
blue, What a Leela ! What a Miracle ! My father 'Sai' had heeded to my
prayer and set the ball rolling, grinds slow but sure.
Besides our  own contribution  of Rs.  10.000/- (from society etc.) my
aunt   had offered   another Rs. 11,OOO/-,    The monetary side   was
solved  in a jiffy.    When Baba  wills,   it does not rain, it pours.
The   occasion could be now celebrated with pomp.
I had   set   my   heart   on   having   the   Navjote  on the 26 January
1982.    But the hotel was fully  booked for the next months.    Not a
single date was available,    I could see my hope going up in flames.
That night as I lay in a semi-awake state, wondering what would happen, I
suddenly felt Baba's presence in the room. His image on the wall glowed-a
strange Mona Lisa Smile played on His face. "Do not fear child. My eye is
ever on those who love me, I am always aware of everything. Try again
tomorrow' He assured me. A great calm fiilled me. I went to sleep.
I tried again the next day and was told that the hotel could be   available
on   the   25th   of  January    1982   (A   Monday husband's   Off-day)
due   to   a  cancellation.    A  second   bolt surprise.   I was   humbled.
He was   right.  I must trust Him, made the necessary bookings immediately,
From then on everything, connected with the occasion, went well and we were
able to make the dream of my  mother-in-law come true, through the
benevolence of my father 'Sai'.    My  sons moved about,   bedecked   in the
richest of clothes, smart as ever proud as a pair of peacocks.
Yes, dear Sai - brothers and Sai-sisters, faith in Sai, had made the
impossible possible. Without a single farthing in the month of October, we
had performed a grand Navjote in the month January - a span of only four
months.
See how faith in Sai moved mountains.

Satsang Thought for the day

Before you think of saying an unkind word
Think of someone who can't speak

Before you complain about the taste of your food
Think of someone who has nothing to eat

Before you complain about your husband or wife
Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion

Today before you complain about life
Think of someone who went too early to heaven

Before you complain about your children
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren

Before you argue about your dirty house; someone didn't clean or sweep
Think of the people who are living in the streets

Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet

And when you are tired and complain about your job
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another
Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.

Satsang Chapter 5 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise(Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram

Chapter 5:::

Sai's arrival along with a marriage party

Chand Patil, a nobel Moslem of Dhup village of Aurangabad district while walking back to his village sadly after having lost his costly mare, saw a young fakir sitting under a mongo tree. The Fakir on hearing his loss told him to search the mare in the nearby groove and to his joy he found it right there. By then the Fakir made things ready for smoking the chillum. He inserted a tong into the ground and a burning piece of charcoal sprang up to light the chillum. He trapped the ground with His chatka (small stick Baba used to carry) and water flowed to wet the chillum's cloth. Patil escorted the Fakir to his house. A few days later Patil's family came to Shirdi for the marriage of Patil's brother-in-law as the bride was from Shirdi. The Fakir also  came with Patil but stayed back permanently in Shirdi. As the Fakir alighted from the bullock cart near the Kandoba temple at Shirdi, Mahalsapathi exclaimed, 'Ya, Sai." He was our Sai Baba. Initially Baba spend most of His time with saints Devakidas and Janakidas. Saint Gangajir who came from Pumtabi said: "Shirdi is blessed. It has with it the priceless gem (Baba)." Ananthanath of Yevela Mutt, the disciple of Saint Akalkot Maharaj declared to the Shirdi Villagers. "This person (Baba) is a priceless diamond. You got it because you deserve it. Shortly you will realize."

In commemoration of Baba's first visit to Shirdi and the glory of the neem tree, some devotees wanted in 1912 to install the replica of the sacred feet (Padukas) of Baba. Upasini Baba gave previous suggestions. The Padukas in marble were chiseled at Bombay and was brought to Shirdi. Baba said that they should be installed on shravan poornima day. He touched and blessed them saying that they were the 'feet of Lord' Kaka Dhikxit carried them over his head in procession of the said day at 11 AM installation. Uapasini Baba composed the following famous sloka on the Padukas.
 Sandha nimba vrukshsya moolathi vasaath
Sudhasravinam dhikthmapya priyam tham
Tharum kalparvikshathigam sadhayantham
Namami eeswaram sadhgurum sai natham.

·        Wrestling: Once Baba clashed with a wrestler by name Thamboli at Shirdi and lost to him. Since then He wore a Kafni and closed His head with a piece of cloth. He used a piece of sack to sit over. He slept in an old and dilapidated masjid. His only possessions were-a hookah, tobacco, small tin container, chatka, a brick, a towel and a long kafni. He constantly kept burning a fire called dhuni. He was always proclaiming 'Allah Maalik' (God is the only Master). On some days He wore tinkles on his legs and danced in a place called thagia.

·        Converting water into oil: Baba used to keep many lamps lit throughout the night in the masjid with the oil supplied by the oil mongers of Shirdi. One day all he merchants joined together and refused Him oil. Baba went back to the masjid, took the tin container which had a few drops of oil, mixed water in it and drank it. Then He filled the container with water, poured it in the lamps and then lit them. The lamps burned throughout that night. Baba told the frightened merchants to be more truthful in future.

·        Pseudo Guru Jawar Ali: A fakir by name Jawar Ali came to Shirdi. By his glib tongue he made a deceptive show that he was the Guru and Baba his discipline and took the later to Rahtha. This was not acceptable to Mahalsapathi and other liked-minded persons. They went to Rahtha and brought both of them back to Shirdi. The deception that Ali was Guru and Baba the disciple remained only for a short duration. Ali lost the debate on theology to Gangajir and ran away from Shirdi. Years later he came back and prostrated at the feet of Baba.

Satsang 12 ways to be Happy

12 Ways To Be Happy:

1. Make up your mind to be happy. Learn to find pleasure in simple things.

2. Make the best of your circumstances. No one has everything, and everyone has something of   sorrow intermingled with gladness of life. The trick is to make the laughter outweigh the tears.
3. Don't take yourself too seriously. Don't think that somehow you should be protected from misfortune that befalls other people.

4. You can't please everybody. Don't let criticism worry you.

5. Don't let your neighbor set your standards. Be yourself.

6. Do the things you enjoy doing but stay out of debt.

7. Never borrow trouble. Imaginary things are harder to bear than real ones.

8. Since hate poisons the soul, do not cherish jealousy, Avoid people who make you unhappy.

9. Have many interests. If you can't travel, read about new places.

10. Don't hold postmortems. Don't spend your time brooding over sorrows or mistakes. Don't be one who never gets over things.

11. Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself.

12. Keep busy at something. A busy person never has time to be unhappy.

And yes there is one more---
Have faith in God-- you may not be able to see him or hear him or touch him but He is able to hear you and see you and no matter what -- He will always be with you and bless you ... So dont just pray to him when your are sad and depressed and in need of something but also remember to thank him when you are happy and are able to bring a smile and contentment to some one else's face...

Satsang Chapter 4 :Sri_Sai_Sat_Charitra_Concise( Version)

Om Shree Ganeshaya Namah
Om Sai Ram

Chapter 4:::

Advent of Saints to Shirdi

Whenever righteousness declines and evil raises its head, God and on his behalf saints and saviors emerge and appropriate time. That way Shirdi Sai Baba also descended on earth. Peace was His ornament. His heart was as pure as mirror. His court (darbar) was attractive. Though He was realized soul, He acted as one seeking realization. His darshan is our effort for self-realization. His directions are our ancient texts (Vedas). Partaking His udhi and other offerings (Prasad) will purify everything. He alone is our Rama, Krishna and Supreme Lord.
·        Ninety six year old Gowli Bhua, a devotee of the Lord of Pandarpur who came to Shirdi annually used to say: "This person (Baba) is the reincarnation of Pandarpur Vital who shows mercy to the helpless and poor ones".
·        Once Baba told Das Ganu that if one sincerely meditated on the name of God, then Lord Vittal would present Himself. (Some how, it did not occur to Ganu that the Baba who was talking to him was the very Vittal!).
·        Once Baba told to one Bhagavantroa Ksheersagar that the latter's father was his devotee but Bhagvantrao had starved Vittal and Him (i.e. he has stopped worshipping Vittal).
·        Once Das Ganu wanted to go to Prayag and have bath in the holy river Ganges. Baba told him 'our Prayag is very much here' and immediately Ganges water started streaming out steadily from the two toes of Baba.
·        No one knows about the details of birth etc. of Baba. He was merely seen to live as a handsome young man under the neem tree. Once on the direction of the one on whom Lord Khandoba had descended people dug up at a place. Under the earth people saw devotional ornaments, articles for rituals and burning lamps. Baba told them that it was His Guru's sacred place and told them to close the pit.
·        Sathe purchased the place around the neem tree and Sathe Wada was built by him. Baba said that those who burn incense in the evenings of Thursday and Fridays near the neem tree would get happiness. After some time Dhixit constructed a wada (mansion) which was greatly useful to pilgrims. Later, Shri Buti, a millionaire constructed a stone wada. It is here now the mortal remains of our Lord Sainath is interned and is known as Samadhi Mandir.

Satsang Sai Baba - The Financier (January 1984)

Sai Baba - The Financier (January 1984)

It was   in   the   month   of July   1980 that I first  met Pujya Shri
Acharya E. Bharadwaja,   who is  doing   yeoman service for the   spread of   Sai    devotion,   at   Chivatam    village.    It   was  a
''Mandalaradhana   Day"   after the   Mahasamadhi  of "Mother of L.Hivatam" and a Guru   Poornima  day too.   On that auspicious occasion and in the presence of so many  "Mahatmas", I got an inspiration   to   start   Sai
Satsang  at  Kovvur.    Accordingly we started Satsang with the  children of our surroundings, who belong to the   age   group  of 5 to 15 years.    It
is now   going   on every -day   with   increasing   faith and devotion and
the participants of the   Satsang   are   enjoying   the  blessings of Baba
as well as the appreciation    of  the   society.    It   is   clearly
evident   from   our experience   that it is His Power alone that enables us to conduct the Satsang   every   day   without   fail.   I wish to narrate
here a great miracle which happened at our Sai Kuteer. It was in the month of July 1983 that my sister-in-law. Smt. Lakshmi
Kamamurthy, who is the chief organiser of our Satsang, was worried a lot regarding how to celebrate the coming Guru Poornima Day. As all the members of our Satsang are only children, we do not have any patrons to raise funds for special offerings on that day. So, Smt Lakshmi had decided to celebrate it in a simple way without much expenditure. But the compassionate Baba would not allow His devotees to be disappointed in any matter. On 6th July 1983, the postman handed over a registered cover to Smt Lakshmi. It was from my brother's son, Mr. Satya Prasad, who is working in Hyderabad. Immediately after opening the cover nineteen ten rupee notes (a sum of Rs. 190/-) fell down.    In utter astonishment, she unfolded the letter   inside,   in
which   she found Rs. 75/-  kept separately. Mr. Satya    Prasad   wrote in the letter  that he used to send Rs.25/- to Shirdi every  month.    But he
could  not do so since three  months for unknown   reasons.    So, he is
sending that amount o( Rs. 75/- for the  coming Guru Poornima  Celebrations in our Sai Kuteer.   But   he did   not mention  any thing about the other
190/-. Smt, Lakshmi thought that they   were put in the cover by mistake and   so   she dropped a letter  immediately to Mr. Satya Prasad   seeking clarification   about   this   amount.    By  return  post, he   confirmed
that he did not  know   anything about those Rs. I90/-   and that he sent
only   Rs. 75/-.    Then we understood that it is nothing but a "Sai
Leeela".    In that way Baba, financing by Himself, got performed Sahasra Nama Puja, Anna Samaradhana; etc., on a grand scale on Guru Poornima Day.

Satsang WHEN BABA BLESSED ME IN PERSON (September 1990)

WHEN BABA BLESSED ME IN PERSON (September 1990)

As a healthy baby when I was only six months old I was suddenly taken ill
and that too so seriously lhat even after best medical treatment there was
hardly any hope of my survival. Just then one day a "Fakir" appeared at our
doorway and unexpectedly asked my mother if her son was seriously ill and
told her about a saint in Shirdi known as Sai Baba and advised her to seek
His blessings and help. My mother went in to tell the same to my auntie (my
father's sister) but when they both came out the "Fakir" was no more there.
Later they narrated the happening to my father and he soon decided to go to
Shirdi. My father had the good fortune of paying obeisance to Shri Sai in
person who blessed him and asked him to put a small silver ring around my
ankle. Needless to say that I very soon recovered and have lived 72 years of
fairly hail and hearty life that is still to end. When in Shirdi, as was the
practice then, my father went to take leave of Shri Sai Baba but he was
asked to stay on and he stayed back through reverence though he had an
important business meeting the next day in Bombay. When he left Shirdi it
was almost three hours after the scheduled lime of the train he was to catch
earlier catch. However, when he arrived at the railway station the same
train had just arrived three hours late and brought him to Bombay in time to
attend the meeting that was quite fruitful.

Now to revert to the interesting story of my silvcr_anklet which was known
in our family as "Sai Baba's Bedi". This silver Bedi was made bigger as
required from time to time by adding some silver and stretching the same
until it finally weighed five tolas and no more silver was then added but
merely beaten andslrclched as required. Wearing the Bedi caused no
discomfort as it had become a part of my body. Curiously enough, except my
father nobody in ihe family knew how long ihis was to be worn and where and
with what rites and rituals it was to be finally removed. Strangely it had
never even occurred to me to question him on this, may be subconsciously. I
had taken for granted that it was for lifetime. However, it was in 1950
(when I was 32 years of age), one day while taking with my falher about some
business mailer in our office, suddenly, wilhout any premeditation, I asked
him as to when the Bedi was to be removed and what was to be done about it.

Strangely my father did not show any surprise at this sudden query for the
first lime in my life and coolly told me that it could be removed at any
time now. He told me to go to Shirdi, adding that he need not even accompany
me. He said, all I had to do was to remove it and put it on the Samadhi and
offer floral tributes. He advised me to see on my visit if there was
anything we could do to help the Sansthan. Very soon after this my father
who was hail and hearty suddenly expired having his first and last heart
attack. Now you see the significance of my suddenly asking him the removal
of the Bedi and his mentioning that he need not even go with me though he
was so devoutly concerned with it. I believe, because my father was to go
for good very soon Sai Baba prompted me to ask and free us from whatever
that was binding on us.

Soon after my father's demise in November 1950,I went to Shirdi with my
family priest and removed the Bedi as I was told. I was glad to note that
the Samadhi structural work was just finished and strangely the electrical
installation work was to be done strangely, because it was just the kind of
work for us, as our family business has been of Licensed Electrical
Engineers and Contractors in the firm name of Bhagvati & Co. On return I
spoke to my elder brother, himself an electrical engineer, and we soon
offered to do the work, considering it our good fortune and privilege to
make our small contribution. Here again a miracle took place. The work was
completed quite satisfactorily but unfortunately on the day of the
inauguration, just a little before the appointed time the lights failed. All
our workers were of a highly competenl grade and yet inspite of their best
effort the lights wouldn't come on. Ultimately they had to give up and our
manager, who also was a sincere devotee of Sai Baba just squatted in front
of the Samadhi and offered his heartfelt prayers, begging to be pardoned for
any mistakes committed. Miracles of miracles, nothing more having been done,
at the last critical moment the whole place got brilliantly lit up.

Our family has experienced many such miracles through the Grace of Shri Sai
whom we have been devoutly worshipping since 1918 a little before His
Samadhi, when He was little known to people at large. In fact people
visiting us, on seeing His picture used to ask us as to who He was. In 1950,
when I first visited Shirdi it was not a very popular place and look at it
now in less than forty years it has become a place of pilgrimage of an
exceptionally high order attracting devotees of all castes and creeds from
all over the world.

Sing Glory of Shri Sai, Endeavour for a Holy Tie,  For this will bring you
rare relief, From all the worldly pain and grief.
