Satsang Miana Tai Ganesh Kuvelkar

Miana Tai Ganesh Kuvelkar [Chandorkars daughter]

She was the daughter of Nana Saheb and Radhabai Chandorkar, born in 1887. She first visited Shirdi in 1900 when she was 13 yrs old along with her family. They visited Shirdi numerous times and Maina Tai was able to witness many a Leela, and hear the advice given to her father. She learnt early in life the consequences of disobeying Baba’s orders at the time of departure. Once she and her family were going to Nasik to attend a marriage. Baba didn’t give them permission to go, they left non-the-less. The result was they were hungry, for three or four hours. On the other hand obeying Baba’s orders, no matter how exasperating it may sound, was sure to give a comfortable, successful and safe journey [DE197]

She was married at a very young age, and moved to Pune with her husband. But he died in the plague epidemic of 1904. She realized that she was pregnant, so her mother took her to Jamner. At the tine of delivery she had a great deal of difficulty and the ‘The Jamner Miracle’ took place. [Sai Satcharita # 33] When the compassionate Baba sent Udi and Adkars Aarati through Ramghir Bua, on the way Baba appeared as a peon, who took Ramgir by tonga to Jamner and disappeared. In Nana’s home, they were performing ‘Navchandi Havan’ and recitation of “Saptashati Path” to overcome the difficult labor. It was only when Baba’s Udi as thirtha touched Maina Tais lips that the pain subsided. She had a safe delivery. The child however died, and this made Maina Tai very dejected. Das Ganu on hearing of the tragic circumstance, gave a pair of Baba’s silver paduka’s and her father who was very orthodox, comforted her. She found solace therein. She lived with her in- laws in a large joint family and had a peaceful life. She died in 1945 in Pune.
